I went to Japan a few years back and I visited a WWII museam. They had thousands of letters written by kamikaze pilots before they were sent off. Most of them were written to their loved ones. I shed tears just from reading them.

As an American with Japanese samurai family backround, I had a chance to be assigned at Kunsan AB, ROK for USAF during 1981-2. There I made many Korean friends, exchanged many stories and helped heal many wounds between our cultures.

One time when I was riding the bus to Osan, a very pretty Korean bus conductor girl talked to me for nearly 30 minutes before she found out that I can't speak Korean. We laughed and became friends anyway. I'e been a fan of Korea ever since.
