@Keenanville09 (Disclaimer: I believe that only those who profess faith should be baptized.) There is mystery here on what happens to babies that die in infancy, regardless of what view you take on baptism. Bottom line is Deut. 29:29, but there is some evidence that infants will ALL go to heaven if they die (see 2 Sam. 12:22-23 and John 9:41). But again, the secret things belong to the Lord; He has not revealed this to us.
I have questions for Catholics: Did you eat Jesus today? Does that mean you're saved? If you died tonight, would you go to heaven? If you pooped and then died before eating Jesus again, would you go to hell?
Please do not listen to this man! If the Bible does not say to do a thing, then DON'T DO IT! Don't say, it does not say not to do it!!! that's complete ERROR. Be obedient to God and His commandments and DO NOT FOLLOW THE TRADITIONS OF MEN... Remember the way to hell is WIDE... so if you follow the majority that is likely where they will lead you. Please repent and open your eyes to the truth
@iwant2bproverbs31 Where does the Bible tell you what books should be in your Bible? Where does the Bible tell you what the order of your church service should be? You see, there are many, many things that the Bible does not tell us, so your idea doesn't really work. Please tell me if you think this is incorrect.
what happens if u die before u became 3o yrs and are not baptism.so u are baptism. as a new born u are safe Tobe with Jesus in the church.=s.death syndrome for one resound u should be baptism. god is a love and mercy and good for all the other children of the world.with his church the world receives his graces to show the world he IS the god of all humankind if we know him or not.
Pastor Lassman is wrong about two things. You do not need the bible to prove whether infant baptism is right or wrong, all you need is a history book or archaeological evidence to prove that it was done with widespread approval of the early church. Another things he is wrong about is that in my research I have found that the intercession of saints minimally (and I emphasize minimally) goes back to the 200's.
@bob21294 this man if wrong about MANY THINGS, im amazed no one can do their own research, he said purgatory started in 500-1000 AD, how is that possible if St.Jerome and St.Augustine, talked about it? also its in the bible! the jews AKA the pre-Catholics use to pray for the dead, Jesus spoke about purgatory, you are not a christian if you are not Catholic.
Baptism in the Bible means to understand the Gospel and accept it, since babies cannot understand or accept the Gospel why should you baptize them? Jesus was baptized when he was 30 years old. . . that should have been a hint to you. And you're argument that just because the majority of fake religions does it and it has been around for a very long time is stupid... just because a lot of people does it doesn't mean it's Biblical. . .
This pastor did use biblical refs to show infant baptism is the way of Christ. This is the sacrament of initiation. It was also clearly drawn out that the majority factor doesnt make it right but shows a stance. The fact that infant baptism can be traced back in the early years of the church shows those early church fathers knew this was the accepted practice as the oral traditions were passed down from the apostles. I dont agree on everything this pastor teaches, but this topic he is right.
@anoobys Site one verse in the bible that says NOT to baptize infants. Infants are born with original sin and baptism washes this sin away. As Christians we are called to baptize ALL nations and this doesnt restrict infants. This is a requirement for salvation (John 3:5) and infants are NOT excluded from salvation. Just look at Acts 16:15 where Lydia's whole household was baptized. A household doesnt exclude infants. Greek oikos is a household where scripture doesnt exclude infants.
@catchzz LoL, original sin? Where in the Bible does it say an Original Sin? None. . . though it doesn't say word for word not to baptize infants, the Bible clearly tells us that in order to be baptized the person must first know the doctrines in the Bible, meaning if you don't understand the teachings how can you be baptized ? And infants are not capable of understanding, henceforth infants are not subject to baptism. . . Let me site some verses for you to understand. . .
@catchzz First of all what is sin? 1 John 3:4 "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." The Bible says that sin is the transgression of the law. Now who are ordered to be baptized? in Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins." Peter said to the people to "Repent" because of sin, meaning the person told to be baptized has understanding...
@anoobys To begin, you stated nothing from scripture that says that infants cannot be baptized so you didnt answer the question. There is a big problem here if you decide to deny the existance of original sin. Genesis 2:17, Romans 5:12, Eph. 2:1-3, etc. We are all born with original sin & therefore NEED a savior. ALL nations must be washed of this original sin & its pretty clear of its necessity - John 3:3-5. Greek anothen means "from above" & "again."
Jesus means "from above" but Nicodemus misunderstands it as "again" causing Jesus to make further clarification. Baptism brings a grace from God (from above). This pastor raises a great point that one must understand baptism DOES something. Your reference to 1 John 3:4 only points to the necessity of infant baptism - ALL have fallen into lawlessness due to eating of the tree. The reference to Acts 2:38 is that good ole one that protestants always use in defense, yet it is the most groundless.
Cont to what the next verse of Acts says - "For the promise is made to you & to your children & to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call." God does NOT exclude infants from His call to be washed of sin & attain salvation. Again since Baptism imposes a grace on the soul, infants must partake. "This prefigured baptism which saves you now. It is not a removal of dirt from the body but an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ" 1 Peter 3:21
Back to Acts, Greek translation of "Metanoesate kai bapistheto hekastos hymon" says "If you repent, then each one who is a part of you & yours must each be baptized”. This is why parents faith is examined before baptism as their belief in turn results in their childs baptism based on this faith (Acts 16:33). Your Heb. ref isnt talking about baptism, rather reflects the necessity of a church Christ est on earth where the church serves as the teaching authority to all.
@catchzz 'okay your either blind or just too stupid to understand, there is no original sin, that is only an invented doctrine of the Catholic Church, and Jesus doesn't mean from above I don't where you got that LOL! If you still don't comprehend the plain and simple fact written in the Bible provided for you then I pray for your soul. Good luck with your life =)
@anoobys Wow is that all you got? Apparently you only attack what you dont understand. If you are going to argue a point, at least have some substance. If you deny original sin, you are borderline Christian maybe not by your own fault, but because of the false teachings you have been given. God bless you in your quest to find the truth as you do need help. Childish and baseless attacks serve no purpose other than to reveal you as a hateful bigot. 1 Corinthians 15:22....
@anoobys "For just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all be brought to life". Is that clear for your blind eyes? "For just as through the disobedience of one person the many were made sinners, so through the obedience of one the many will be made righteous" - Romans 5:19. Do you need more? Clearly you cannot prove your own point, so educate yourself, study the Greek, and then come back when you have something of value.
@catchzz I believe that serves you just right, nowhere in the Scriptures is there a mention of an Original sin LOL! Apparently you don't understand anything in the Bible. . . you don't even understand Romans 5:12, Sin was not passed, but death was passed if you just continued to Romans 5:14 you would have read "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that HAD NOT SINNED after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come." YOU SEE? =)
@catchzz The phrase "even over them that had not sinned" can refer to infants, because they are not capable of sinning for they do know not the law. It said Death reigned over them clearly sin was not passed. . . Death was the one passed from Adam. Therefore there is no ORIGINAL SIN, because if you still believe that you might aswell disregard Romans 2:14... please study the scriptures more it might lead to your salvation, as I pray it might lead to mine =)
@anoobys You are completely ignorant! Sin is death! Death is to become cut off from Christ. Christ came to restore new life. Do you not understand the fundamentals? For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience many will be made rightous. Do you not understand clear words?! Christ makes us rightous for it is ONLY through Him that we are saved. Wisdom 2:23 "For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made him."
@anoobys next verse "But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world, and they who are in his possession experience it." Death is to lose salvation when the body perishes. We are restored to new life by the grace of God when we attain salvation. By one man, all have been brought on to sin & death. Just as all of the early church fathers wrote about original sin, long before you ever came around or your other heretical leaders who stopped the practice of infant baptism centuries later.
@anooby Do you need more to see the errors of your ways? "And the gift is not like the result of the one person's sinning. For after one sin there was the judgment that brought condemnation; but the gift, after many transgressions, brought acquittal." Romans 5:16. Before the Law of Moses, there was no law of God which resulted in death except that law given to Adam in Genisis 2:16-17. It is Adam's pure disobediance that brought sin and death into the world. Need more schooling?
@catchzz You use verses without understanding them and giving them your own interpretation, whereas I site the verses clearly without any need of explanation, it is as it is. If you still cannot comprehend I'm sorry brother but you are lost or maybe a complete ignoramus. Good luck with your life and I pray for you =)
@anoobys If you refuse to hear the message of the scriptures & follow the message that was passed down from the Apostles to the early church fathers, then I cannot help you. It is a complete joke & total waste of my time to explain anything to you when you come to your own interpretations minus the church that is the body of Christ. The scriptures fall on blind eyes with you & your own interpretation disagrees with the records of the early church. I do pray for you and your false understanding.
@catchzz LMAO do you even read what you're blabbering in here? You just disregarded 1 John 3:4 that clearly states "sin is the transgression of the law". Sin is not Death, because if you believe that then in Romans 2:14 those "that HAD NOT SINNED after the similitude of Adam's transgression" would be exempted from death. There are people who cannot sin, the mentally retarded cannot sin, they are also not capable of understanding the law, like infants.
@anoobys You are a piece of work! Putting words in my mouth will not make you look smart. Those who have reached the state of reason do sin. Death is the consequence of sin in Romans 5:19. God must reopen salvation to us, and baptism must bring us back to children of God. Not a child of God means a child of the devil. "All of us once lived among them in the desires of our flesh, following the wishes of the flesh and the impulses, and we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest." Eph 2:3
@catchzz Now can a child "Repent" and be baptized? Hebrews 5:13 says "For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant." an infant has no experience in righteousness why would you baptize them? Thet can't even believe, one requisite of baptisim is believing. In Acts 8:36-37 it says "And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?" ... continued
@catchzz Continuation. . . Acts 8:37 "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." The eunuch asked Philip what is preventing him from being baptized, there's only one answer there, Philip said; If he "BELIEVES" with all his heart, it will happen. . . again can an infant believe? The answer is NO, and in fact nowhere in the Bible can you read that Christ or the Apostles baptized any children.
Pastor Lassman all babies are born with the stain of original sin in their souls. As the Holy Catholic Church teaches, 'A sacrament is an outward sign of an inward grace'. At baptism the stain of original sin is removed and even the baby receives the mark of Christ, and the Holy Spirit prepares it to live the life of grace.
@76Excel Hi........yes I agree that all babies are born with original sin and that's why we baptize babies too. But original sin is not removed....but forgiven ...as Augustine also taught....
No where in the New Testament teachings does it indicate that babies were to be baptized. We are taught that we are to hear the Gospel, believe it, confess our belief that Jesus is the son of God, repent and then be baptized for remission of our sins. Can a baby understand the Gospel? We as parents are commanded to bring up our children in the way of the Lord. When they reach their age of understanding they certainly should obey the Gospel.
All baptizing does for babies is get them wet. This is religiosity at its worst. Babies who are baptized grow up thinking they are saved when they aren't! Parents do this to assuage their own fears---that is how this diabolical practice started! It is responsible for millions having missed salvation in Jesus Christ due to the resultant false security.
Just becuase it is old or other chruches make it valid. Child baptism is not in the NT. Acts shows adults, and children. Belief and then baptism. Infant baptism is a bad idea.
Your Big Chance again is celibacy Biblical Just to clear up the matter so folks know your stand that it is indeed Biblical and your claim I'm a Liar stands. For if I am the Liar your belief would be that Celibacy is indeed Biblical. And In fact will be rewarded by God.
yup my exact words in respose to your lying ones now give me the Bible quote where Lazarus is in paradise along with Abraham and all the Others. Gee another Lie oh my goodness the stink of surfer again
Jesus also had this to say, "And if he refuse to hear them, appeal to the Church, but if he refuses to hear even the Church, let him be to you as the heathen and the publican.
too bad you don't agree with him sola scripture and all
Thomas Aquinas once noted that no matter how flawless one's logic was, if it began with a faulty premise, then the end result would be a conclusion founded upon error.
"Whatever these people don't understand, they insult. Like animals, which are creatures of instinct, they use whatever they know to destroy themselves. How horrible it will be for them! They have followed the path of Cain. They have rushed into Balaam's error to make a profit. They have rebelled like Korah and destroyed themselves."
Now the liar comes with ad hominems, red herrings, and inuendo, but yet not one shred of proof that he is not a liar who falsely accuse me of saying that
"celibacy is not Biblical"
Why won't he provide proof because a liar cannot provide proof that he is not a liar only a honest man can do that
@ttsqas Men like the opinions to which they have become accustomed from their youth; they defend them and shun contrary views; and this is one of the things that prevent men from finding the truth, for they cling to the opinions of habit.
@ttsqas For those who spread lies about the Catholic Church: their ignorance is their lack of knowledge, their stupidity is their wisdom, and their truth is falsehood
1 Tim. 5:9-12 - Paul recommends that older widows take a pledge of celibacy. This was the beginning of women religious orders.
2 Tim. 2:3-4 - Paul instructs his bishop Timothy that no soldier on service gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim his to satisfy the One who enlisted him. Paul is using an analogy to describe the role of the celibate priesthood in the Church.
1 Tim. 4:3 - in this verse, Paul refers to deceitful doctrines that forbid marriage. Many non-Catholics also use this verse to impugn the Church's practice of celibacy. This is entirely misguided because the Catholic Church (unlike many Protestant churches) exalts marriage to a sacrament. In fact, marriage is elevated to a sacrament, but consecrated virginity is not.
The Church declares marriage sacred, covenantal and lifegiving. Paul is referring to doctrines that forbid marriage and other goods when done outside the teaching of Christ and for a lessor good.
1 Tim. 3:2 - Paul instructs that bishops must be married only once. Many Protestants use this verse to prove that the Church's celibacy law is in error. But they are mistaken because this verse refers to bishops that were widowers. Paul is instructing that these widowers could not remarry.
The verse also refers to those bishops who were currently married. They also could not remarry (in the Catholic Church's Eastern rite, priests are allowed to marry; celibacy is only a disciplinary rule for the clergy of the Roman rite). Therefore, this text has nothing to do with imposing a marriage requirement on becoming a bishop.
1 Cor. 7:32-33, 38 - Paul recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church so that they are able to focus entirely upon God and building up His kingdom. He “who refrains from marriage will do better.”
Now see haow he is trying to evade the issue which is not whether celibacy is Biblical but where is his proof that I said it is not. Lol he now wants me to answere the question which he clained i already did....lol
Matt. 19:29 - Jesus says that whoever gives up children for the sake of His name will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life. Jesus praises celibacy when it is done for the sake of His kingdom.
Matt. 19:11-12 - Jesus says celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear it. Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church. Because celibacy is a gift from God, those who criticize the Church's practice of celibacy are criticizing God and this wonderful gift He bestows on His chosen ones.
@ttsqas This also makes it easier for priests to be transferred to different parishes where they are most needed without having to worry about the impact of their transfer on wife and children.
@ttsqas proof your a Liar Matt. 22:30 - Jesus explains that in heaven there are no marriages. To bring about Jesus' kingdom on earth, priests live the heavenly consecration to God by not taking a wife in marriage. This way, priests are able to focus exclusively on the spiritual family, and not have any additional pressures of the biological family (which is for the vocation of marriage).
@ttsqas proof your a liar 1 Cor 7:1 – Paul teaches that it is well for a man not to touch a woman. This is the choice that the Catholic priests of the Roman rite freely make.
1 Cor. 7:7 - Paul also acknowledges that celibacy is a gift from God and wishes that all were celibate like he is.
@ttsqas Let's see if he will provide proof now that he is not a liar or will he yet attempt to dance around the issue which is proof that I said that
"celibacy is not Biblica
1 Cor. 7:27 – Paul teaches men that they should not seek marriage. In Paul’s opinion, marriage introduces worldly temptations that can interfere with one’s relationship with God, specifically regarding those who will become full-time ministers in the Church.
He has time to posts all thosecomment after he was asked to provide proof that he is not a liar but he can't post any proof...is it not pitifu? Yes it is
Liars here on youtube forget that it is too easy to expose them.
Now he could still redemm himself by providing proof or keep proving that he is a liar by petty attempt at skating arounf the issue which is WHERE IS HIS PROOF?
@ttsqas so tell me where is the proof of your statement come on a good falsifier of facts can certainly provide the Proof. gee to hard to do for you. I gave you your Proof sorry your A retard and cant accept it not my problem. Well is celibacy biblical and the church following it biblical pretty simple even for a simpleton to answer
Now watch what his next worrds are. I guarantee you that they will not be proof of me saying what he claimed I said. Let's wait and see if he is indeed a liar and trying to cover it uo now rather than just admitting that he lied.
"Six things there are, which the Lord hateth, and the seventh His soul detesteth: haughty eyes, A LYING TONGUE, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked plots, feet that are swift to run into mischief, A DECEITFUL WITNESS THAT UTTERETH LIES, AND HIM THAT SOWETH DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN."
What kind of a person tells an ouright lie about a person and then runs from backing it up? Could it be the cowards, vile, and liars mentioned in the passage of scripture that he himself posted here Revelation 21:8?
How prophetic of hime to post that particular vers which apparently applies to himself in absence of him providing proof that I said what he claims.
@ttsqas Change the subject not in the slightest see how the slim squirms out of answering a question and his deceit well answer the question or be the Liar wither celibacy is biblical or it isn't either the practice of celibacy is biblical or it inst you inferred it inst remember the Pope and Peter remember or are you just confused Even your father Satan can Recite Scripture
So lets watch and see marlut provide proof that I said that celibacy was not Biblical (as he claims) rather than what I actually said which is that POPES (not priest from the eastern Catholic sect) cannot marry, that Peter was married, that apostles could marry, that Peter and the other apostles called him an apostles not a pope, that the evidence is that Peter was an apostles not a pope (as in the office of pope in the RCC)
"There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, A LYING TONGUE, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, A FALSE WITNESS WHO POURS OUT LIES
I guess he/she is conceding that they are the type of liar mentioned in Revelation 21:28 and "THEIR PORTION SHALL BE IN THE POOL THAT BURNS WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."
Otherwise why hide proof? If I made the statement where?
And watch how though this deceitful liar can make false claims against others and post so much he/she won't post his/her proof which makes him/her a proven liar evertime he/she post anything other than that proof
@ttsqas well tell me are celibate priest Biblical or not biblical an is the choice a Priest freely makes to be celibate biblical or not biblical, this will answer your nuts o question
Surely Revelation applies to the one who says that I said that "celibacy is not Biblical"
if he/she were not a liar as mentioned in the REV 21:8 then they would tells us where we can go to see where I made such a statement. Yes satan is the father of lies.
So let's see if this child of satan will say where I made the quote attributed to me otherwise he/she prove he fits well the liars in Revealation 21:8
@ttsqas who talk about mental incapacity so lets see you made the claim Peter was married therefore he couldn't be a pope (Father in Italian) when I just showed you that was Bogus what a retard
@ttsqas didn't i tell you their were married Popes and Priests in the Catholic Church and Peter Being Married doesn't mean a thing heck the Eastern Rite has all married Priests. Its Church Patrice silly not dogma didn't Christ say it was a Gift from god oh yes that isn't in your Bible I forgot how silly of me. Thats Right he wasn't called Pope He was called Bishop Just like the Pope is today what a dope
@ttsqas did you know that in fact he was called the Pope the word means father now careful here we might get into that call no one father thing and Ill have to make a bigger clown f you with Christs own words again and those of the Apostles
@ttsqas By the way I love how the Catholic Church Just took in thousands of Anglicans and Lutherans who were Married pastors and ordained them as Priests in the catholic church
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree CANNOT bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, BY THEIR FRUIT YOU WILL RECOGNIZE THEM
@ttsqas By the way stop quoting from that catholic Book called the Bible ya know the one you cant trust because of your unbelief in History very intelligent on your part ROFL
"BUT AS FOR THE COWARDLY AND UNBELIEVING, AND ABOMINABLE AND MURDERERS, AND FORNICATORS AND SORCERERS, AND IDOLATERS AND ALL LIARS, THEIR PORTION SHALL BE IN THE POOL THAT BURNS WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."
@ttsqas but when it comes to dopes like you I like this one better..
@ttsqas yea you don't dialog with those who speak truth and catch you in your ignorant lies I know yup your a clown and a liar as well your sects are full of them
@ttsqas Just like I proved you to be the liar with those itchy ears whats the matter your onliner of reproofing is to be used only by you heretics. Dont go away mad just go away
@ttsqas yeza I love how you say celibacy is not Biblical what did Christ say about it again Matt. 19:11-12 - Jesus says celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear it. Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church gee calling Christ Un Biblical how sweet
. Contrary to Protestant myth and anti-Catholicism, the Catholic Church doesn't teach that one is saved by works apart from preceding and enabling grace, but that faith and works are inseparable, as in James 1 and 2
This heresy of which Catholicism is often charged, was in fact condemned by the Catholic Church at the Second Council of Orange in 529 A.D. It is known as Pelagianism, the view that man could save himself by his own natural efforts, without the necessary supernatural grace from God.
A more moderate view, Semi-Pelagianism, was likewise condemned. To continue to accuse the Catholic Church of this heresy suggests a manifest ignorance of the history of theology, as well as the clear Catholic teaching of the Council of Trent (1545-63), available for all to see. Yet the myth is strangely prevalent.
@ttsqas yup exactly the Catholics churches position the Works are prepared by God
We are saved By Grace Alone thru faith, hope, and charity (Love), but the greatest of these is charity (Love) as Paul said to bad the Proties twist it and say that catholic believe their own works say them apart from the enabling grace
Ever hear of Sheol or Hades that’s were the word was derived from in Latin "purgatorio" Purgatory The Greek word used for fire is "pursw" (puroo) of which "pur" is the root word for Purgatory. a translation of Hades and Sheol. By the way The word Trinity and Easter Isn’t in the Bible either where did they come from
Baptizing a baby is NOT Biblical...............one can NOT force God upon another.

@catchzz You say it's Biblical? Site one verse in the Bible that says to baptize infants?
anoobys 7 months ago

And infants are not capable of understanding, henceforth infants are not subject to baptism. . . Let me site some verses for you to understand. . .
anoobys 7 months ago
@catchzz First of all what is sin? 1 John 3:4 "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." The Bible says that sin is the transgression of the law. Now who are ordered to be baptized? in Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins." Peter said to the people to "Repent" because of sin, meaning the person told to be baptized has understanding...
anoobys 7 months ago
@anoobys To begin, you stated nothing from scripture that says that infants cannot be baptized so you didnt answer the question. There is a big problem here if you decide to deny the existance of original sin. Genesis 2:17, Romans 5:12, Eph. 2:1-3, etc. We are all born with original sin & therefore NEED a savior. ALL nations must be washed of this original sin & its pretty clear of its necessity - John 3:3-5. Greek anothen means "from above" & "again."
catchzz 7 months ago
Jesus means "from above" but Nicodemus misunderstands it as "again" causing Jesus to make further clarification. Baptism brings a grace from God (from above). This pastor raises a great point that one must understand baptism DOES something. Your reference to 1 John 3:4 only points to the necessity of infant baptism - ALL have fallen into lawlessness due to eating of the tree. The reference to Acts 2:38 is that good ole one that protestants always use in defense, yet it is the most groundless.
catchzz 7 months ago
Cont to what the next verse of Acts says - "For the promise is made to you & to your children & to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call." God does NOT exclude infants from His call to be washed of sin & attain salvation. Again since Baptism imposes a grace on the soul, infants must partake. "This prefigured baptism which saves you now. It is not a removal of dirt from the body but an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ" 1 Peter 3:21
catchzz 7 months ago
Back to Acts, Greek translation of "Metanoesate kai bapistheto hekastos hymon" says "If you repent, then each one who is a part of you & yours must each be baptized”. This is why parents faith is examined before baptism as their belief in turn results in their childs baptism based on this faith (Acts 16:33). Your Heb. ref isnt talking about baptism, rather reflects the necessity of a church Christ est on earth where the church serves as the teaching authority to all.
catchzz 7 months ago
@catchzz 'okay your either blind or just too stupid to understand, there is no original sin, that is only an invented doctrine of the Catholic Church, and Jesus doesn't mean from above I don't where you got that LOL! If you still don't comprehend the plain and simple fact written in the Bible provided for you then I pray for your soul. Good luck with your life =)
anoobys 7 months ago
@anoobys Wow is that all you got? Apparently you only attack what you dont understand. If you are going to argue a point, at least have some substance. If you deny original sin, you are borderline Christian maybe not by your own fault, but because of the false teachings you have been given. God bless you in your quest to find the truth as you do need help. Childish and baseless attacks serve no purpose other than to reveal you as a hateful bigot. 1 Corinthians 15:22....
catchzz 7 months ago
@anoobys "For just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all be brought to life". Is that clear for your blind eyes? "For just as through the disobedience of one person the many were made sinners, so through the obedience of one the many will be made righteous" - Romans 5:19. Do you need more? Clearly you cannot prove your own point, so educate yourself, study the Greek, and then come back when you have something of value.
catchzz 7 months ago
@catchzz I believe that serves you just right, nowhere in the Scriptures is there a mention of an Original sin LOL! Apparently you don't understand anything in the Bible. . . you don't even understand Romans 5:12, Sin was not passed, but death was passed if you just continued to Romans 5:14 you would have read "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that HAD NOT SINNED after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come." YOU SEE? =)
anoobys 7 months ago
@catchzz The phrase "even over them that had not sinned" can refer to infants, because they are not capable of sinning for they do know not the law. It said Death reigned over them clearly sin was not passed. . . Death was the one passed from Adam. Therefore there is no ORIGINAL SIN, because if you still believe that you might aswell disregard Romans 2:14... please study the scriptures more it might lead to your salvation, as I pray it might lead to mine =)
anoobys 7 months ago
@anoobys You are completely ignorant! Sin is death! Death is to become cut off from Christ. Christ came to restore new life. Do you not understand the fundamentals? For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience many will be made rightous. Do you not understand clear words?! Christ makes us rightous for it is ONLY through Him that we are saved. Wisdom 2:23 "For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made him."
Cont..
catchzz 7 months ago
@anoobys next verse "But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world, and they who are in his possession experience it." Death is to lose salvation when the body perishes. We are restored to new life by the grace of God when we attain salvation. By one man, all have been brought on to sin & death. Just as all of the early church fathers wrote about original sin, long before you ever came around or your other heretical leaders who stopped the practice of infant baptism centuries later.
catchzz 7 months ago
@anooby Do you need more to see the errors of your ways? "And the gift is not like the result of the one person's sinning. For after one sin there was the judgment that brought condemnation; but the gift, after many transgressions, brought acquittal." Romans 5:16. Before the Law of Moses, there was no law of God which resulted in death except that law given to Adam in Genisis 2:16-17. It is Adam's pure disobediance that brought sin and death into the world. Need more schooling?
catchzz 7 months ago
@catchzz You use verses without understanding them and giving them your own interpretation, whereas I site the verses clearly without any need of explanation, it is as it is. If you still cannot comprehend I'm sorry brother but you are lost or maybe a complete ignoramus. Good luck with your life and I pray for you =)
anoobys 7 months ago
@anoobys If you refuse to hear the message of the scriptures & follow the message that was passed down from the Apostles to the early church fathers, then I cannot help you. It is a complete joke & total waste of my time to explain anything to you when you come to your own interpretations minus the church that is the body of Christ. The scriptures fall on blind eyes with you & your own interpretation disagrees with the records of the early church. I do pray for you and your false understanding.
catchzz 7 months ago
@catchzz LMAO do you even read what you're blabbering in here? You just disregarded 1 John 3:4 that clearly states "sin is the transgression of the law". Sin is not Death, because if you believe that then in Romans 2:14 those "that HAD NOT SINNED after the similitude of Adam's transgression" would be exempted from death. There are people who cannot sin, the mentally retarded cannot sin, they are also not capable of understanding the law, like infants.
anoobys 7 months ago
@anoobys You are a piece of work! Putting words in my mouth will not make you look smart. Those who have reached the state of reason do sin. Death is the consequence of sin in Romans 5:19. God must reopen salvation to us, and baptism must bring us back to children of God. Not a child of God means a child of the devil. "All of us once lived among them in the desires of our flesh, following the wishes of the flesh and the impulses, and we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest." Eph 2:3
catchzz 7 months ago
@catchzz Now can a child "Repent" and be baptized? Hebrews 5:13 says "For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant." an infant has no experience in righteousness why would you baptize them? Thet can't even believe, one requisite of baptisim is believing. In Acts 8:36-37 it says "And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?" ... continued
anoobys 7 months ago
@catchzz Continuation. . . Acts 8:37 "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." The eunuch asked Philip what is preventing him from being baptized, there's only one answer there, Philip said; If he "BELIEVES" with all his heart, it will happen. . . again can an infant believe? The answer is NO, and in fact nowhere in the Bible can you read that Christ or the Apostles baptized any children.
anoobys 7 months ago
Pastor Lassman all babies are born with the stain of original sin in their souls. As the Holy Catholic Church teaches, 'A sacrament is an outward sign of an inward grace'. At baptism the stain of original sin is removed and even the baby receives the mark of Christ, and the Holy Spirit prepares it to live the life of grace.
76Excel 8 months ago
@76Excel Hi........yes I agree that all babies are born with original sin and that's why we baptize babies too. But original sin is not removed....but forgiven ...as Augustine also taught....
nschaub 8 months ago 2
No where in the New Testament teachings does it indicate that babies were to be baptized. We are taught that we are to hear the Gospel, believe it, confess our belief that Jesus is the son of God, repent and then be baptized for remission of our sins. Can a baby understand the Gospel? We as parents are commanded to bring up our children in the way of the Lord. When they reach their age of understanding they certainly should obey the Gospel.

It is proven that God wants infants in his Kingdom though the Bible, you can't ignore it. It has been practice since Jesus and the apostles.
joannelarcher 10 months ago
All baptizing does for babies is get them wet. This is religiosity at its worst. Babies who are baptized grow up thinking they are saved when they aren't! Parents do this to assuage their own fears---that is how this diabolical practice started! It is responsible for millions having missed salvation in Jesus Christ due to the resultant false security.

Rev. 14:4 - unlike our sinful world of the flesh, in heaven, those consecrated to virginity are honored.

Paul is using an analogy to describe the role of the celibate priesthood in the Church.
martlut 1 year ago
It appears that he is just a liar because he won't provide proof
ttsqas 1 year ago
In fact, marriage is elevated to a sacrament, but consecrated virginity is not.
martlut 1 year ago
The Church declares marriage sacred, covenantal and lifegiving. Paul is referring to doctrines that forbid marriage and other goods when done outside the teaching of Christ and for a lessor good.
martlut 1 year ago
Where is the evidence that ttsqas said that celibacy is not Biblical?
Or is he a liar?
ttsqas 1 year ago
Celibacy is an act of giving up one good (marriage and children) for a greater good (complete spiritual union with God).
martlut 1 year ago
So get this straight martlut claims that I said that "celibacy was not Biblical"
Where? that is the question which will not answer which makes him a liar
ttsqas 1 year ago
1 Tim. 3:2 - Paul instructs that bishops must be married only once. Many Protestants use this verse to prove that the Church's celibacy law is in error. But they are mistaken because this verse refers to bishops that were widowers. Paul is instructing that these widowers could not remarry.
martlut 1 year ago
The verse also refers to those bishops who were currently married. They also could not remarry (in the Catholic Church's Eastern rite, priests are allowed to marry; celibacy is only a disciplinary rule for the clergy of the Roman rite). Therefore, this text has nothing to do with imposing a marriage requirement on becoming a bishop.
martlut 1 year ago
1 Cor. 7:32-33, 38 - Paul recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church so that they are able to focus entirely upon God and building up His kingdom. He “who refrains from marriage will do better.”

Matt. 19:29 - Jesus says that whoever gives up children for the sake of His name will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life. Jesus praises celibacy when it is done for the sake of His kingdom.
martlut 1 year ago
Proof your a liar
Matt. 19:11-12 - Jesus says celibacy is a gift from God and whoever can bear it should bear it. Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church. Because celibacy is a gift from God, those who criticize the Church's practice of celibacy are criticizing God and this wonderful gift He bestows on His chosen ones.
martlut 1 year ago
Ok celibacy is not Biblical then you call Christ a Liar.

@ttsqas This also makes it easier for priests to be transferred to different parishes where they are most needed without having to worry about the impact of their transfer on wife and children.
martlut 1 year ago
@ttsqas proof your a Liar Matt. 22:30 - Jesus explains that in heaven there are no marriages. To bring about Jesus' kingdom on earth, priests live the heavenly consecration to God by not taking a wife in marriage. This way, priests are able to focus exclusively on the spiritual family, and not have any additional pressures of the biological family (which is for the vocation of marriage).
martlut 1 year ago
@ttsqas proof your a liar 1 Cor 7:1 – Paul teaches that it is well for a man not to touch a woman. This is the choice that the Catholic priests of the Roman rite freely make.

Only one person in here has been caught lying and he/she continues to prove it by not stating where I said "celibacy is not Biblical"

Watch what comes next everyone proof that we have a liar in our midst. Where did I say that ""celibacy is not Biblical" ? We're waiting
ttsqas 1 year ago
Surely Revelation applies to the one who says that I said that "celibacy is not Biblical"
if he/she were not a liar as mentioned in the REV 21:8 then they would tells us where we can go to see where I made such a statement. Yes satan is the father of lies.
So let's see if this child of satan will say where I made the quote attributed to me otherwise he/she prove he fits well the liars in Revealation 21:8

@ttsqas who talk about mental incapacity so lets see you made the claim Peter was married therefore he couldn't be a pope (Father in Italian) when I just showed you that was Bogus what a retard
martlut 1 year ago
The Catholic sect claims that Peter was the 1st pope
popes cannot marry
Scripture says that Peter was an apostle and was married
"Don’t we have the right to take a believing wife along with us, as do the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers and Cephas?"
I'll go with what scripture say Peter was an apostle not a pope.
Next they will be saying that 2 + 2 = 8
ttsqas 1 year ago
@ttsqas didn't i tell you their were married Popes and Priests in the Catholic Church and Peter Being Married doesn't mean a thing heck the Eastern Rite has all married Priests. Its Church Patrice silly not dogma didn't Christ say it was a Gift from god oh yes that isn't in your Bible I forgot how silly of me. Thats Right he wasn't called Pope He was called Bishop Just like the Pope is today what a dope
martlut 1 year ago
@ttsqas did you know that in fact he was called the Pope the word means father now careful here we might get into that call no one father thing and Ill have to make a bigger clown f you with Christs own words again and those of the Apostles

@ttsqas By the way I love how the Catholic Church Just took in thousands of Anglicans and Lutherans who were Married pastors and ordained them as Priests in the catholic church

"A good tree CANNOT bear bad fruit"
Amen!
ttsqas 1 year ago
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree CANNOT bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, BY THEIR FRUIT YOU WILL RECOGNIZE THEM

@ttsqas but when it comes to dopes like you I like this one better..
Prov 6:16-19

I do not diaolg with those who lack the maturity for intelligent debate such as one who would referr to those with opposing views as "clowns"
We all know what the false Gospel of the Catholic sect is regadless of how they try to spin it.

Jesus praises and recommends celibacy for full-time ministers in the Church gee calling Christ Un Biblical how sweet

. Contrary to Protestant myth and anti-Catholicism, the Catholic Church doesn't teach that one is saved by works apart from preceding and enabling grace, but that faith and works are inseparable, as in James 1 and 2
martlut 1 year ago
This heresy of which Catholicism is often charged, was in fact condemned by the Catholic Church at the Second Council of Orange in 529 A.D. It is known as Pelagianism, the view that man could save himself by his own natural efforts, without the necessary supernatural grace from God.
martlut 1 year ago
A more moderate view, Semi-Pelagianism, was likewise condemned. To continue to accuse the Catholic Church of this heresy suggests a manifest ignorance of the history of theology, as well as the clear Catholic teaching of the Council of Trent (1545-63), available for all to see. Yet the myth is strangely prevalent.

So when scriptures says
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for (GOOD WORKS), which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them"
Note the part ,
"which God prepared beforehand"
it does not say
"which man prepared"
And Jesus answer to "what works does God require" is,
“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
ttsqas 1 year ago
@ttsqas yup exactly the Catholics churches position the Works are prepared by God
We are saved By Grace Alone thru faith, hope, and charity (Love), but the greatest of these is charity (Love) as Paul said to bad the Proties twist it and say that catholic believe their own works say them apart from the enabling grace
martlut 1 year ago
They are like those who once asked Jesus this question,
“Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
To which Jesus answered Jesus answered,
“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
So to the question of “what WORK(S) does God require?” The response from Jesus is “to believe in the one God has sent”
Are we created for good works yes. Are those good works to be defined by traditions of man? NO! Are the defined by God YES!
