  • It amazes me that there is still enough demand for this type of travel that merits 17 Amtrak cars be used!

  • Dang! and no helpers! ? Didnt realize how big a consist they had.

  • Nice video and nice rail crossing bel ting ting tong

  • WOW that thing was long!!

  • great video enjoyed and hello from houston texas ist time to watch ur channel nice vids always like to meet new railfriends

  • Wow...I counted 47 cars! Would love to see that myself someday. Thanks for sharing the video with us.

  • Nice, What a long fast train. Never saw the Autotrain before.

  • That is fast. Thanks!!

  • Man. How much can a pair of P42s carry? This is by far the most I've them carry!!! Great catch.

  • ok, so why are the 10 car trains like the Capitol Limited running with 2 even 3 engines, when the 40 odd trains work fine with two, now dont ya think the other trains are a BIT overpowered?

    p.s. what's highball mean?

  • @jfsa380 I guess highball means when the train's pushing out full throttle. If anybody else knows the correct answer, please feel free to post.

  • @jfsa380 Auto Train does not have to climb steep grades and mountains like a lot of the Western Amtrak services, that's why.

  • @jfsa380

"Highball" generally refers to a clear signal. One of the earliest US railway signals was a large ball hoisted up on a pole to indicate to a waiting train that it could proceed.

  • Wow... it's moving! I didn't know Amtrak could do that...

  • what is in the cars after the passenger cars?

  • @guitarguy940 This looks like an auto train. It's carrying vehicles in the back.

  • Good vid of the auto train. I've never been on it but it would really be interesting to watch them load the cars and make up the train before boarding.

  • Improper Grade Crossing sequence.

  • It always amazes me how this train only needs 2 engines, with all those cars?? Anyone care to comment?

  • Damn long amtrak train.

  • 47 cars with only 2 CRAZY STRONG P42's pulling it!! NICE CATCH!!

  • yeah 47 cars of Amtrak Auto train. back in the 1970's they would even have 64 cars plaus a caboose and 3 GEU36B loco's on the front and that was very succesful but got into money troubles and then had quit in 1981 and it took until 1983 until Amtrak could get it rolling again

  • OK thanks for your reply to my comment however to me auto-train is what is being phased in on some of the freight trains operating in the far north west of west australia these are driverless trains running from the mines to the port railhead and controlled from a central control point also on trains such as the Ghanfrom Adelaide to darwin where there is 1or 2 car carrier units for passengers cars

pls remember that NOT all people who look at your videos are familiar with your local trains

  • That wasn't his video...it's mine and I would've made a comment in a kinder fashion to you but I just logged on for the first time in forever...I apologize for his rudeness

  • well caught with the 13 I think car Amtrk but is it unusual to have an Amtrak hauling freight BTW it sure was hauling ass when it passed you for sure

  • OMG. This is AUTO TRAIN. Do you have any idea what Auto Train is? Its not freight, genius.

  • The Auto Train at SPEED! Great video, very impressive train!

  • I once saw an amtrak train with 3 engines (the streamline type ones)

  • LONG TRAIN!!!

  • Meh...fast for the Auto Train. Still a very good video...

  • I hate when my hat trys to fly off as trains fly by me. lol. Great catch though.

  • only happened to me one time

  • Awesome video dude. That Amtrak train was huge.

  • Not as fast as the Silver trains.

  • Actually its the same...execept he didn't have to slow down for a station stop at JAX like the Star & Meteor have to.

  • And also as far as the Silver trains go, we dont start slowing down at Dinsmore....which is still 4 miles from the station. We slow down at Soutel.

  • Damn it...I'm a retard...thanks for the corrections...I'mma just leave it to the pros who run them like you!

  • O I thought we were talking about through Dinsmore...that's what I was talking about that they go about the same through here...

  • I am so glad that the school bus driver didn't decide to go when the gates were coming down because I bet some other drivers would go. Nice vid! He was hauling!

  • Actually, its not the same...as I run these trains. The Auto carriers on the AT are limited to 70mph. Silver service trains can do 79mph.

  • i would love to see a amtrak auto train here in birmingham, ala.

  • nice, good vid, i like the horn on that one.!!

  • Thanks!

  • Almost 3 hours

  • How late was it?
