I sit in Canada, and watch India with a quiet pride and a satisfied smile.Go,India go.Your time has come.Excel in everything and anything you do!:):):)
lol... Here in Norway they will finish a airport terminal with only a few gates in 2012.. The construction will take four years... And in delhi they will finish this terminal with 74 gates in 2010...Only in 3 years.. HAHA! Go India!!
I THINK THERE IS SOMETING BURNING ???????FROM WESTERN SIDE OF OUR BORDER...................WAIT FOR OUR FIRE TRUCKS THEY ARE JUST ARRIVING WITH ..GASOLINE IN THERE TANKS..
Well...to be honest, plans to expand and modernize both the Delhi and Mumbai airports were put in motion a long time ago (around 2003-04). It remained in limbo for a long time thanks to the communist party and lazy-ass Govt. employed airport workers who were protesting the privatization of airports. Now that their bickering is taken care of, things are able to move fast.
But, Norway has limited labour force and a lot of safety measures to follow with constructions.
This airport is being built by 20,000 workers, 7 days a week, with day and night shifts covering 24 hours of non-stop work. In that sense, I'm surprised they are taking 3 long years.
are these people actually going to finish this by 2010... ya kno... we indians aint that punctual in india when it comes to great construction projects.... but i like the idea! i wish to see this completed on time!
A very modest try. But Country of this magnitude deserve the biggest and best airport in world. On scale of 10 I would give 2 points to indian policy makers. Wake up, See the world. Attend classes at Harvard or Stanford. What are we waiting for Greater Noida Airport?
dats why Indian government gave this project to South africian company, not to reliance, even Reliance give tender of less money than that company, but they gave to SA company.
Its not South african Company... the Delhi airport has been built in partnership with Fraport... Frankfurt,Germany.. The Mumbai airport contract has gone to South africa..
They (the Govt.) did a great job with Delhi Metro, and some even say that the completion of the first phase, which was 3 years ahead of schedule, was a marvelous feat. Good, hard-working, and diligent personnel always make good things happen, and I'm glad E. Sreedharan is one among them.

I don't understand; why do they have to make it look so americanized/westernized. Why don't they add some Indian touch to it?

the problem with the Indian government is: they always have great plans. But their ability of acrrying out these projects is always questionable.
