I like how everyone thinks this town, along with other nm towns are nothing but vast empty deserts with large sambrero wearing Mexicans sleeping under the cactus. We have rivers, lakes, green forests with many trees, and plenty to do. Cruces is more a retirement home and home for college students but it's not too bad. I love it but would like to experience other cities. It is my home.

@areola187 I was born in Las Cruces and I know what you are talking about. You should visit Colorado Springs , Colorado. When your there you can drive to the top of Pikes Peak at 14,110 ft. Visit Reno,NV and South Lake Tahoe at Lake Tahoe. Its Heaven on earth. I got a small video of Lake Tahoe on my profile.

@areola187 Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado is so awesome! you can drive to 12,000 ft above sea level. Its 67 miles northwest of Denver. There are Elk everywhere in Estes Park.

Las Cruces is a wonderful town. I think it's a beautiful place to live. It's great that it's so close to Texas, but far enough away from a lot of big cities that it's able to keep it's "small town" feel.

Las Cruces sucks, sorry, I lived there for quite awhile, there is way more to do in El Paso, Texas. The only thing I like about Las Cruces, is that it takes 5 minutes to commute to work, school, movie theaters, etc. but there is just so much more to do in El Paso, Texas. Considering it is New Mexico, I guess its okay, since New Mexico is like a third world country in the United States. Albuquerque and Las Cruces are the only places worth living at.

i lived in Las Cruses for around 4 months in the 80's and it was an awful experience. Talk about a nothing town this is it. The people I met there who liked it came from towns in New Mexico that where one stop light shit holes. Don't fool yourself the place is one small step away from oblivion. Summer there is unbearable.

There was some amazing sunsets there until it was ruined by a prison on the horizon.

Las Cruces is like any other relatively small down. There's a lot to do if your willing to get out in the community and get involved. Like most small towns there doesn't seem to be a lot going on, on the surface, but you can find lots to do.. I've been here 16 years and wouldn't live anywhere else! and I've lived a lot of other places.

Las Cruces is a beautiful, thriving place and the people I've met there are wonderful people! I went to LCHS and NMSU and had the time of my life

I have visited Las Cruces and spent a great deal of time in Alamogordo. I love the area and would move there tomorrow if possible. If you lived in a damp cold place like the UK then you would appreciate LC much more.

Any time you live in an area, you tend to look past your local history. Las Cruces is a great place to visit and live. As long as you are getting out to experience the city and not sitting home drinking Bud Light - you'll see it's a great place.
