With our program, freshmen can bring their own horse for the first semester for free if it is suitable for the program, but after that you have to pay board. However, at most I think it's about $4,000 per year to keep your horse there with full care.

We switch around riding horses all the time anyway and have the same demos, so you get basically the same experience whether you bring your own horse or not, plus you benefit from all the extra riding lessons with your own horse.

In todays society, any bonafide lesson stable will require you wear a helmet, even for western riding. It saves them from lawsuits when you fall off and hit your head.

Wearing a helmet is a personal choice, I am sure the girl probably knows the risks involved. If her horse is safe for the most part and quiet, chances are she might not need one. I mean accidents happen, but rarely on good horses with good riders.

I don't wear a helmet then again me and my familly grew up without any equipment we where lucky for a bridal.
And now I'm 12 still ride after one g-gillion falls. I like the wind in my hair more that anything.
But helmets are advised for serious riders
