I woukd say that waves of erotasia was their epitome . the one album that mixes their various sages, although I prefeer their earlier years its cool to listen to a different take on doom metal
My ealiest memories when I started to listen to metal (late 90s) was listening to domestic k7 recordings from several bands. Pyogenesis was one of them. And I loved Ignis Creatio album. When I saw Death is just the beginning VHS by the first time, I was shocked. Pyogenesis was the first metal band which broke my aesthetical comprehension about a band. I would like to understand why although I respect the reason. No matter why.
@UlverBr Ah! I mean when I first see Love Nation Sugarhead videoclip, I was shocked. My visions and comprehension about that band was deconstructed instantaneally into an incomprehensible black hole.
Waves of Erotasia was monumental, along with Solar lovers from Celestial Season - another band playing a similiar style who totally abandoned metal and did some simple boring commercial shit
At least they done the right thing, they give up on making music...better that than play punk fuck comertial shit...waves of erotasia was a great move for them in that time but twinaleblood was an amazing album,i thought they were on the right track! Then love nation sugarhead starting to sound very strange...and finally were we go with punk fuck comertial shit!
Thanks for making this, I actually like all eras of this band but mostly the Sweet../Waves of Erotasia era.
It's a strange progression/regression but despite the fact that I listen to so much metal, I enjoy many other genres as well, including the occasional pop-punk, if done right...
Of course, I can see why most people who liked them 15 years ago or more would hate them for this, haha...
no band who evolved from extreme metal or underground music to pop and shit like that has ever been succesfull in the pop scene, so noone should ever try such an evolutuion
@PanagosGr33kG134EVER because "pop scene" is full of shit, they just want to make music... even we are in the pop, metal is pop, is fashion is a fucking style, i remember in the 90's we were just people who like music... peace.
i remember them when they wern't even on a real tape... and they were class.. pure energy... shock of my life when i seen them on their latest,... fucking genius... love it ... smart bastard... still i prefer they old energy... stick a few of them sonds in....
i have a band on my space called "Day Of Revelation" alot of people say we are a reincarnation of pyogenesis....they were a major influence but if you like their earlier stuff you might like ours, check out our tracks, send a friend request, thank you hope you like it.
The death/doom stuff is definitely fantastic stuff. (Demos + the two EPs). But damn, the transitional stuff around 94-96 is absolutely disastrous. It's even worse than the stuff that would follow, as it tries to mix the two styles...ugh. Can't say I like any o their material post death/doom-era, but the very late stuff is at least bearable and passable.
They obviously got bored of playing the same generic shit over and over again. Not that I'm a fan of their later stuff but they're musicians and can do whatever the fuck they want with their band. So if you don't like it, don't listen to it. Simple as that.
ignis creatio the best album they did...the perfect album! the new things they played... are just... like... ugh, I have no words to describe that shit! what happened with the original and greatest pyogenesis?! if they had done an evolution like anathema or my dying bride... maby cathedral also... it would be ok! but this... it is not fare to have the same name and play 2 stiles so different! pyogenesis died so...change the name if you still want to play music!u_u don't make the memory get dirty
i think they could have easily been legends in the same ranks of my dying bride anathema and paradise lost if their style hadnt taken a dramatic turn, dont get me wrong all of the above mentioned names experimented but ultimateley their roots are what kept them original. old pyogenesis and new sound like two different bands.
Tim Eiermann and Wolle Maier formed alternative rock band Liquido (propably you know their only-one hit song 'Narcotic'). Btw, I saw this band live last saturday on student's open air fest in Warsaw.
About another their bands:
Tim Eiermann: Immortal Hate, Agoraphobia, Act of Grace, Gut, Dystrophy
Joe Proell: Immortal Hate, Gut, Nunwhore Commando 666
Pit Muley: Immortal Hate
Roman Schönsee: Dystrophy, Danse Macabre, The Bloodline, Satyrian
This is why I don't trust doom metal anymore. Look at Paradise Lost, Celestial Season, Theatre of Tragedy, all of them end up doing this kind of crap. It's sad.
god damned, you're right, though there are always bands that keep up their style (Novembers doom for example) lots of bands start to get progressive worst.. it's sad.
The "Rise of the Unholy" single is actually two songs taken from the demo. I have Pyogenesis demo, "Ode to the Churning Seas of Nar-Mataru," and they actually evolved from Swedish death metal to doom/death on the "Sacrificious Profanity" single. The new doom/death sound became apparent on "Ignis Creatio" EP.
I own all of Pyogenesis' albums and their best release is "Ignis Creatio." They never came even close to topping that.
pienso que tu pyogenesis es totalmente asquereso!!Paradise lost por ej fue mucho mas pasable su"evolucion"..pero este de hacer death metal a un alternativo punk rock me parece horrible..parece green day con my chemikal romance ..musica muy mala!!
the boys have the guts to do whatever they want without fear of alienating old fans... that's cool and should be applauded whether you or me like all their albums... My personal favorite is Twinaleblood.
Wouldn't it be great if Tim,Joe, and Pit formed their own band called Ignis Creatio and continued where they left off from Sweet X-rated nothings. In my dreams maybe.
Most underrated band ever.

however, this happened also to Entombed... which i was also dissapointed :(

Because Nuclear Blast is just a shitty major label that just cares about profit!
