i like most anime in its original japanese language.too many anime shows get half assed english dubs. there are a few exceptions though.

as for the songs this is the only song that i think was as good in japanese in english. the japanese vocals for the other songs sound really off beat compared to this one. ive read that its really hard to rap in japanese due to the different sentence structure so that may be the reason

I really can't stand any,and i mean,ANY dubbed anime.They do a crappy jod dubbing them and it's just bad.like horrible bad. BUT this is the one anime that i enjoyed dubbed.really great work. Voices matched perfectly, song lyrics and performances were top notch and generally they actually tried to make this good. They team even won an award for its dubbing on Beck. can't argue with that...

it really depends on the series Beck is great in both english and japanese.

others like baccano! are made to be dubbed.

but then thier are those great animes that should never have voice actors that speak english fuck with them like fairy tial, k-on, zombie loan, tokko, and dbz. thier are more animes that should be left alone than should be or could be dubbed and not suck.

@idaho777 I thik a lot of that has to do with the fact that once they translated the words, the syllables in each line got altered and the rhymes didn't work out either so they had to alter things around a bit and it just didn't mesh. You can't really just translate lyrics in a song and expect them to it perfectly and rhyme. It's why the Japanese version of the Beck tunes don't bother me like they do some people.

Music ISN'T always about sounding perfect, or being the greatest. Beck in this show WAS NOT trying to win any awards. They were not trying to land on the pop charts, they were just trying to spread their name around. Under ground music is something EVERYONE critiques. Hell even some great hits have been quoted as bad sounding songs. Smells like teen spirit, A lot of Jethro Tull and Psycho killer by the talking heads. If you guys don't like it, go watch K-on or Nightwish live.

Beck can't possibly be "better" in English, you miss the entire point of the show! There are some critical things in this anime that can't be simply slapped with translations. Sure it's fine to dub most anime, but a lot of Beck loses its meaning in the dub... this is why it's usually good to read manga if all you want is your native language.

I think you missed my point. People say the dub is better but I think the dubbed voice and lyrics are awful. A lot of people don't like to watch anime that hasn't been dubbed, but I have no problem watching a story about japanese people in japanese.

i know that! always did!! i just had some asshole try to tell me what they said about lucille is true. that is the only thing that bugs me in this anime. they got B.B. Kings story all wrong, i mean they didn't get the name right and the guitar is different. B.B. King is one of my favorite guitarists and it is insulting to completely change his story!
