What's going on? Just admit that he did well.. It's not asking you to write down BJJ history via Wikipedia, or whether or not it's effective in the streets....
I personally don't think BJJ's ideal in the streets, though.
not ideal cuz a street fight starts standing up. once it gets to the ground which most street fight do, then u get to dominate the other guy. if u know bjj u can manhandle people in fights
i'm not saying this is a bad technique, i'm just criticizing the ones who do not know how to do something else. if it goes wrong, u're fucked against a good oponent. did u never asked yourself, if it's so good, why don't u see this in high level tournaments? besides that i would think twice before doing that on a dirty concrete ground.
oh u have a dick? fuck me, it's hardly to belive. better stay at your kindergarden-butterflies in the air, when grown ups are talking. didn't they teach u that in kindergarden?
tipical bjj match: noone knows shit about throwing.everything they know is pulling in the guard and flying armbar. before u ask, i'm a black belt judo and purple belt bjj
The gracie combatives videotapes don't count as REAL BELTS dude
I don't remember but I'm pretty sure you don't get your Blue Belt until 15-16 i think
In a fight/competition any technique isn't going to be pretty most of the time unless ur opponent makes a really stupid mistake like extending his arms when mounted.
Personally I wouldn't use it unless I'm against somebody who doesn't know much/anything. Too much risk of failure IMO but I guess the Plus would be if you miss he's in your guard.
nice, but he tapped a blue belt, when im guessing he should have been in the purple belt class. these instructors hold thier guys back so they can dominate tourneys, ridiculous shit
you can show a whitebelt how to do it but he isnt going to tap out a bluebelt in a tourney. they guy pulls it tight, hes an advanced blue belt. but most likely should be purple and his held back jsut to win tourneys. guys do that so they can do fancy shit like this too
A white belt could catch a black belt with a flying arm bar. Belt/Experience is not everything.. its all about who makes a mistake first. Just cause someone is a black belt does not mean they do not make mistakes. When i was a blue belt i tapped purple belts all the time.. and even a few browns. Only black belt was the instructor.. and no i didnt tape him lol. What im saying is just cause he pulled off a flying armbar to a bluebelt does not mean hes automatically a purple belt..
Very Unlikely. I have been doing BJJ since 1995 and it is too rare to see a black belt get caught since Brown Belts and above know when your setting up for one. I can understand a white belt with proficient leg lock skills just because BJJ practitioners only started really seriously learning and defending leglocks when GOkors guys started to win BJJ tournaments back in 1997-1998. Now it is a must in BJJ. Blue belts it is quite common for a blue to tap a purple.
Ive seen a few white belts pull this off in comp, and allot of us can do them in training, saying he should be purple based on one move is pretty stupid.

flying armbar is a showoff indeed. especially if you are levels above your opponents. only on competitions where slaming is not allowed.
oh, to the flying armbarsfans here: try to do it on the streets on concrete hahahaha

If I had no other choice and was getting beaten standing, why not go for it? Possibly a bruised back but you're breaking the guys arm.

A lot of MMA guys that do flying armbars don't have any of this belt system drama and they still execute effective armbars.
