  • First!

  • This is were it all began legendary cutlerylover......

  • go to flintandsteel.webs.com

  • If your having trouble catching the spark, try putting one layer of char cloth over the edge of the flint and holding it so it cant move.

  • @ejbot Ps I started watching when I was 11 also but without a account!

  • crap, is this your first video?

  • holy this was a year ago and it still looks like the same peice of flint

  • lol, it is the same flint, I used it maybe 10 tiems since the original video, I break the kit out once ina while as a novelty but dont use it often..

  • the video isnt loading yet.... but nice jacket looks very comfy.

  • wtf when it played for me it was in fast forward lol

  • Awesome video. This is the first one I've seen using real, natural flint ( and not fire-steel).

I like your striker, I think I'll make one next time I light up my forge.

  • like it

but i still prefer the steel woll and 9v battery

  • is it my computer or this vid doesen't have any sound (I think I saw this vid some time ago and it had sound)

  • i noticed a plaster

  • is this your first video

  • hey cutlerylover!

if u didnt have charcloth with u, what material that could be found in nature could be used to start a fire easily?

(like birch bark etc.. i've always wondered what materials catch fire as easily as charcloth, but i couldnt find a lot of infos about it...:S)

    thx4 the vids, you rock!

  • wacth my video series on milkweed...But also cattails heads are good if youc na find any in the area...

  • Cramp ball fungus grows on Ash trees and horses hoof fungus grows on birch are both the best tinder for catching a spark without being treated but must be dry

  • I ahve found horse hoof fungus, but still have not seen any true tinder fungus in my area...I think, but could eb worng, but I think cramp ball fungus is only in europe?

  • True tinder fungus I have never seen infact I dont think it exists, they say its that clumpy twig stuff on birch and I have tried it and it doesnt work, the velvety part of horses hoof loosened up works well failing that if I was out in a survival situation I would go for the bow drill technique then make charred fungus and experiment, most bracket fuguses charred catch sparks

  • I beelive true tinder fungus grows on the bas of birch trees and has a tar looking blackish outside and a dep brown inside, many uswe to collect it for its cancer healign properties until it was ruled out as not very functional like many thought...but I agree in a true survival situation if I had to rely on nature with no lighter I woudl go with a bow drill or simple ahnd drill on various woods and other natural tinder...

  • The first video that turned cutlerylover into an internet phenom!

  • @xxmachinegunxx and he was just as Russian then as he is now!!!!

  • that doesn't look safe lol.

  • hmm this is cool and i have to say there is something else you can use besides those old flints and and steel its just use spark making no fluid bics ITS ALSO GOOD TO USE LINT FROM A DRYER it catches flame amazingly and its recycling to set it on fire YAY FIRE

  • he just wanted to show one method of fire

  • Gotta love the symbolism with this very first video ... something so small building up so much energy and catching fire.

To think your first vid didn't even have sound is nuts.

I know you hear this all the time man, but sincerely, thank you. Your effort and time with all your videos doesn't go unnoticed. Not to mention, you may easily be the nicest guy on Youtube lol ...

You rock my man, stay safe.

  • I appreciate it man! actrually I started this accoutn to make video on bushcraft stuff hense the 1st vid, I was really into it at the tiem, still am but dont focus just on that anymore...but because of ym love for knives it turned into a knife channel for the most part, haha...

  • What was your first vid?

  • this one, lol...here on youtube anyway...

  • Is this your first video?

  • yup, not even any sound, lol...Old camera...

  • coolio

  • wheres flint under your house, i live in connecticut and i wanna find some flint thanks.

  • I am sorry I have no idea...I got mine offline, but maybe someone can post a website or somethgin that will help you identify flint in case you want to search for it by your home...

  • where did you find the flint?

  • I got the flint off of ebay, I got 2 kidns in one auction for like $5 plsu shipping...I hate to pay for something that cna be found in nature for free, but I don't have any where I live, or least couldn't find it easily...

  • you gave up too easily..there's some flint right under your house.

  • Yeah, but how to I get under my house to get it?

  • you got a bandaid on your booboo ... lollololollol

  • haha, yes I do, you would think being such a fan of knives it would be a cut, but its not, actually I was trying to carve a bowl with whats called a spoojn knife, and I got a blister from pressing hard with the wodden handle, lol...

  • if that's not ironic, then i dont know what is lol

  • To easy.

  • Your right, its not that hard at all, but alot more fun then using matches or a lighter...Whats a little more difficult is the hand drill or bow drill...I am still working on those skills myself...Another fun way to start a fire is with a fire piston, I will hopefully get a video of that posted eventually...
