@dronevalleykk youre not as smart as you think you are-- but you are a worthless peice of shit. Don't start shit with me: Your just another pussy bitching over me because you can't shut the fuck up when someone has an opinion. Learn to do that, and maybe one day you won't get your ass kicked ;D
I really miss, the special Helmet snaredrum sound and John Stanier, have always been a big inspiration for me as a drummer..And some of the simple hits or fill ins he make, is not as simple as it sounds..But we have to listen to the new ones (Hamilton changes pretty much in Line Ups), cause John doesn't return..But what a legendary band anyway!!! This nr. is one of my absolute favorites..Gonna see them in a month here in Denmark.. Never thought I should see HELMET.. Fucking Nice!!
I think Unsung is the only good song from them, honestly. Everything is great in all of their songs, until the singer just fucks it up with the his singing. Good thing they made Unsung a big hit, it actually made you want to sing it to yourself, and keep you listening. All their other songs are slow yelling shit. People are gonna start hating on me right after this, but honestly: music is my thing, i'm a Guitarist. Beleive me im not punk
@xxPunkoftheUSAxx You need to listen to their other songs more. I had this same problem when I first attempted to listen to Meantime. The "slow yelling shit" as you put it, will grow on you...
Never should the drums sound weaker live then the LP version, sadly the drums here are mighty weak sauce! Lack of tightness, cadence, and over all tone. Paige is spot on, the rest of the band here needs to listen to "betty" at least 100x more to get it right. Most bands can get away with this medicore of a performance, but not Helmet, who were known for their live supremacy, and being dead nutz every single night. Truly they were a super group, here they are brought down to being mere mortals
The drums actually sound OK here, it's the base that sounds washed out. Tempesta was a fine drummer for the newer version of Helmet. I wish he would've stayed on for another album.
@fabriceappy ....sounds like we are getting the board mix on this vid......woulda sounded more full in the room, live.....i like this shit......Helmet, Motorhead.....good shit
@bcastine1975 lol reckon tempesta doesnt have no where near the same groovy feel as stanier...unfortunatly helmet songs require the funky groovyness that only comes with certian people take you pick on tempesta pass or fail haha?
No way, Tempesta doesn't hit with half the force of Stanier.Stanier is much faster on the snare(see tomahawk mayday live),there maybe only handfull of people on the planet that can even duplicate his stick speed, and power, unothordox tempo, its not close.Tempesta isn't bad,but Stanier is a legend and continues to be in Battles by re-inventing how drums can be played.Tempesta is merly coping Stanier's beat,in SM's when tempesta got to author his own beats in helmet,it was basically pitiful.
Kristofer Steen formerly from The Refused probably the fastest drummer I've ever heard; my personal favorite drummer though is either Dave Lombardo (SLAYER) or Erik Sandin (NOFX)

Page is a great guitarist and composer but it's not Helmet without John Stanier.

1000% agree. Incredibly weak performance... The drums at the beginning sound like there is a tape problem ;-)

i think tempesta is a better drummer than stanier, the drum fills are very good, but both drummers are influental people
