Liu Kang was apart of the Shaolin. As a monk he's strictly NOT allowed to murder. They explained why he does it in later games but I can't remember the explanation.

If you did this fatality on any stage other than the Pit, it was lame. On the Pit stage, you get a cartwheel into an ultra high uppercut followed by a lengthy freefall into a spiky floored doom.

Before anyone call this a lame fatality. Imagine why it keeps coming back. (MK, MKII, MKSM) This fatality is dangerous! You're uppercutted so high that you literally bust your skull open upon hitting the ground. The graphics rendered in the past do not show this. However it's common sense yall. Let Liu uppercut you that high and lets see if you walk away with a fixed skull. XD
