You really don't have to put Sonic 1 into the lock-on kit to get that. Matter of fact, any Sega Genisis/Mega Drive cartridge can do that as well (except sonic 2 and 3). That is basically a developers code you entered to find the lost Blue Sphere levels dropped from the game and more. Its just like the Konami developer's/debug code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start for you retro noobs).

EXAMPLE: connecting with pantasy star will not have the same level when you connect sonic & knuckles with Crusader of centy ( or Solei)

@ThePatrickinator actually, yes it would have altered the pallete of the game. hackers, to counter the issue, had to use the two shades of red from sonics shoes, rather than the original 3 shades of red used, and changed the color of his socks to blue

It was really annoying that they didn't make Sonic 1 work with Sonic & Knuckles! I heard it was a color palette problem! luckily thanks to a hacked ROM you can now play as Knuckles in Sonic 1! it is by far the best ROM hack I've ever played.

This Is A Game Call Blue Sphere. I Heard That It Takes 90,000 Years To Beat The Game From Start To Finish. There Are 23411487 Levels In The Whole Game. This Game Was Also Included Into Sonic Mega Collection Plus.
@Phoenix1251 You're probably thinking "WTF are you doing replying to a 2 year old comment", but if you took 90000 years to beat all 134,217,728 stages, you'd have to beat each stage, at an average of 5 hours, 52 minutes and 40.567836 seconds, so, basically, just under 6 hours. If it takes you 6 hours to complete a stage, you have some problems. It probably takes between 30 seconds, and maybe 3 minutes, so the total time would be no more than about 500 years, non stop.
I got the number from wikipedia a while ago and tried to figure out how long it would take to beat it.
If you were to get a perfect each time, and play NON-STOP.... it would take about 95 years. This is based on an average 3 minute time to beat each one.
Of course, when I did this, I thought a perfect brought you 8 levels ahead, but it's actually 10. So it would take a bit less than 95 years.
Lol! Reaching to that level of the game will be a world record not kidding ether. I reached only to level 502, and I still think this game is way to long to beat.
My opinion on here is not final, I'm thinking that this game is probably endless. Hell IF 99999999 IS THE LAST LEVEL, I would faint if I was right the whole time.

Each special stage (including the ones in Sonic 3 & Knuckles) is made up of 4 quadrants. Each quadrant has it's own unique layout and there is total of 127 layouts. Most of the stages have a different layout in each quadrant. With 4 quadrants, 127 different choices, and 4 different styles (all same, all different, half and half, and 2-3 same/different), you can create up to 2,038,438,443 custom stages!! This is what makes the game fun!
i remember I got this by trying to play streets of rage 2 through the sonic & knuckles cartridge, just to see if it would work. The 'no way' screen is basically what you get with any game but sonic 2/3.
Every memory of this game...man, Glacier2030, I could GO ON for days for real. My best memory is when my cousin and I spent summers just constantly playing sonic games. We beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles and we discovered Hyper Knuckles after getting all 7 super Emeralds...then we got Super Sonic, Hyper Sonic & Super Tails. Man, those were good times! Best game is still Sonic 1....gotta go with the original!

Yes!! I have done this before!! I've tried it with using other games too!! I think it worked when i put "Wheel of Fortune" on top of it. It did help some when i tried to get the Chaos Emeralds.....I spent days tryna figure out which game would get it to work and then I had Sonic 1 and that one had everything!! ^_^

@Phoenix1251 You're probably thinking "WTF are you doing replying to a 2 year old comment", but if you took 90000 years to beat all 134,217,728 stages, you'd have to beat each stage, at an average of 5 hours, 52 minutes and 40.567836 seconds, so, basically, just under 6 hours. If it takes you 6 hours to complete a stage, you have some problems. It probably takes between 30 seconds, and maybe 3 minutes, so the total time would be no more than about 500 years, non stop.

I got the number from wikipedia a while ago and tried to figure out how long it would take to beat it.
If you were to get a perfect each time, and play NON-STOP.... it would take about 95 years. This is based on an average 3 minute time to beat each one.
Of course, when I did this, I thought a perfect brought you 8 levels ahead, but it's actually 10. So it would take a bit less than 95 years.

Each special stage (including the ones in Sonic 3 & Knuckles) is made up of 4 quadrants. Each quadrant has it's own unique layout and there is total of 127 layouts. Most of the stages have a different layout in each quadrant. With 4 quadrants, 127 different choices, and 4 different styles (all same, all different, half and half, and 2-3 same/different), you can create up to 2,038,438,443 custom stages!! This is what makes the game fun!

i remember I got this by trying to play streets of rage 2 through the sonic & knuckles cartridge, just to see if it would work. The 'no way' screen is basically what you get with any game but sonic 2/3.

Every memory of this game...man, Glacier2030, I could GO ON for days for real. My best memory is when my cousin and I spent summers just constantly playing sonic games. We beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles and we discovered Hyper Knuckles after getting all 7 super Emeralds...then we got Super Sonic, Hyper Sonic & Super Tails. Man, those were good times! Best game is still Sonic 1....gotta go with the original!

lol i used to play sonic 3 and knuckles when i was seven so all i could do was get to act 3 and fail from then on. even hydrocity was tough on me! plus i didnt even know what the chaos emeralds were back then so when i found one of the warp rings i would fail every time cuz i couldnt do it. ah, good times...

Yes!! I have done this before!! I've tried it with using other games too!! I think it worked when i put "Wheel of Fortune" on top of it. It did help some when i tried to get the Chaos Emeralds.....I spent days tryna figure out which game would get it to work and then I had Sonic 1 and that one had everything!! ^_^
