  • Can i use this to create an acapella?

  • i still hear abit of voice, though

  • ......-_- this is wack doesnt work on my songs

  • What if I want the vocals to use and not the instruments?

  • maybe it works for some songs but it aint working for the one i want.

  • Ah I misunderstood this. Of course your description says it better but the title says rip. That to me means pulling the vocals out so they're on their own.

    Still cool tutorial.

However there is an add on for Audacity that can do this for you automatically it's called Center Pan Removal.

  • I know another way ScratchedChalkVideos to make an acapella but takes some time & it seems that because my videos that have those features have 5 star rating because they think that I'm a bass riping champion use the equalizer to find out what the sound frequency is that cuts out the music like what some people did to Daft Punk's music like one more time, harder better faster stronger & around the world.

  • i did it but the music didnt get removed. it madde the music and vocals really like robot voice like...so what happened?

  • @benjharmon same!

  • can you do this with a wav file?

  • Is there any way of doing the opposite? Removing the instrumental and leaving only the voice? If you know ow to do it, please tell me. Thank you!

  • lol now i have vocals without instrumental music :O lol xd nice vid anyway

  • Dude You Have It Done

  • This only works if the vocal is in one channel, you're just phasing the track out with itself....

  • Very many.mp3 's that are in stereo , have vocals on one channel. It's made like that so the song will sound more "interesting" when hearing on earphones.

  • It goes really quiet and it wont work...this doesnt work for me at all

  • zomg thank you sir.

  • This does not work...I think the person has a diffrent, older version! It works for me, but i cant upload it to you tube! It pisses me off!!

  • Ummmm... yeah, no. This didn't change a thing for the vocals. The entire song stayed the same.

  • thank you sooo much!!

  • OMG! Thank you very much!

  • awesome!. thx man. ^_^.

  • my songs won't play right. They jyst are a high pitched noise for about 2 seconds. What am i doing wrong?

  • Are you using mp3? Or are you using m4a or acc, the iTunes format? Because the m4a is not supported by Audacity, you'll have to convert it first with something like MusicMan.

  • every time i import a song it says mono what kind of song are you using? is it from limewire or itunes or something else?

  • this is for the instrumental not the vocal

  • Does anyone know how to get JUST the vocal track?

  • erm i do this and get the instrumental not the acapella. If this is not for acapellas and is for instrumentals then i don't get the proper instrumentals cuz i dnt get the bass beats

  • made me a goood tune jus lyrics

  • Everytime I try to import ANY song, it says it can't work. Can somebody here PLEASE remove the vocals from, and post on youtube Ding Dong the Witch is dead, Were off to see the wizard, In the erry old land of Oz and I I were king of the Forest from the Wizard of Oz?!PLEASE!

  • if your importing a song that you purchased from itunes it won't work, cause it's a protected file. At least, that's what one of my programs do. Hope that helps!

  • how do you use amplify to make the loudest parts disappear?

  • u can't that's why they are the loudest parts

  • Didnt work :(

  • all of my effects are disabled. do you know why?

  • You first need to select the track (by clicking in it or by using CTRL + A)

  • Didn't work.

  • dont work :( well not for me atleast any help??

  • doesn't work with every music, i tryed 5 stereo musics and only 1 time worked.

    nvm, Thanks.

  • hey where it is suppose tosay "Stereo" on the audacity software it says mono instead...how do i change that?

  • @magicfreak: What? This video shows how to remove vocal, not everything else, what the hell are you talking about, his result is dissapearance of vocals, not instruments. O.o

  • how is it that these kids know more about this shit than us? im sure i got like 10 yrs more of age than this kid.

  • totally agree

  • Didn't work. =/

  • Attack. System of a Down.

  • I tried this and instead of ripping the vocals, it got rid of everything except for the vocals! So what happened? and how can i fix that?

  • Ummm, that's exactly what this video is teaching you, to remove the music, and keep the vocals....if you want a karaoke version of a song, look for "vocal REMOVAL audacity" here on youtube. This is more useful when you want to remix the song, because you are able to remove the music and keep the vocals!

  • any way of removing just the guitar-part of a song? =P

  • not working for me....

  • I did the part that you said to put both parts of the track on mono, but everytime I do that I can't hear anything. Before I put them on mono I can hear it. Did I do something wrong?

  • Same here.. That's exactly what happened

  • The gray box on the left of the sound: how do you make that appear?

I can't seem to make it pop up. And it's getting soo annoying.

    Appreciate the help. =]

  • it produces like, a guitar-only version of the song...coo anyway

  • kid u r ace

  • Can I download this video for my friend?

    He needs it really important.

  • That's great and everything, but you just taught how to REMOVE vocals from the mp3. RIPPING them would mean removing everything except the vocals.

    Pretty useful tutorial anyway.

  • how to you remove the instruments and just keep the vocals, i want to know, and how do you do that with hip hop songs or rap

  • no instruments in rap lol cos it sucks

  • there definatly is instruments in rap boi get ur fact straight

  • there isnt, its just computerised drum beats, no guitar, no screamo, no bass, AND NO REAL DRUMS!

  • There are no good or bad genres of music.

The only difference is which genres each person likes.

  • how do you remove the instrumentals but keep the vocals?

  • Do this, and then do inverse with instrumental and normal version of the song? I guess :D

  • Sweet System of a down song =D

  • is there any way to remove the music? xD

  • is there any way to remove the music and keep the vocals?

  • Thanks Man Kick ass program

  • aaaaight ill try this one :) thaks

  • all my songs say mono how do i get stereo songs?

  • Download New songs...

  • It works. =D Thank you very much.^^

  • hey man how to you remove the instruments and just keep the vocals

  • Are you from Minnesota? lol

  • It works :D!

  • is it possible to do the same trick here but for guitars? cause im looking at trying to make myself backing tracks to play to with my guitar but i cant seem to find any video's that explain how to do it. thanks =]

  • i am trying to find a kind of program that can operate with windows without requiring any extra hardware where i can separate all the audio tracks in an mp3, guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, etc, whatever instruments are used in the song and manage them however i want; possibly quick and easy. can anybody enlighten me?

  • you can highlight track and go to edit then duplicate to get 2 versions of the same track which can easily be turned into a stereo track.

  • it dont work for me. can you do this for me. i need akon. right now.

  • Is there anyway to remove the music but still have the lyrics in?

  • thats what hes doing lmfao

  • Oh my god, You sound just like the Little Kid Mayor in Fallout 3 Lmao.

  • hey dude a tried makin ma own beat and then wen it came to putting vocals on it a cudnt hear myself properly so how do u do it so u can hear the beat and the vocal loud??

  • Dude can ya tell me how to make an acapella with audacity??

  • Thanx!

  • Nice! I tried one of my favorite mp3 songs didn't work but to my rendition "love song" it works. You are right "tnabeatswwe and ScratchedChalkVideos!!! It depends to the recordings. My rendition mixed with 2 tracks only. The first track is a jam track (minus one) of "love song" and my voice on the 2nd track mixdown all together. Thank you very much especially to those have sensible comments, you rock!

  • Thanks ^^

  • I had an mp3 file (Afterlife my Avenged Sevenfold) and when I did this, it removed the drums. o_O

    Some mp3's have different tracks.

  • Thanks a bunch. Your tutorial is the only one that has worked. All the other one's i've tried just made the vocals sound like the singer was under water. Thanks.

  • i can just choose: 'Remove Vocals' @ Effects

    only quality sucks now

  • where is that?

  • A lot of times this won't work for songs with a lot of base in them. If your truly desperate, go buy a media editor, much easier ;)

  • its interesting, this did not work for me. but if i pull my headphones halfway out of my new ipod nano, it rips the vocals! (and it sounds awful!)

  • your track is real distorted

  • Most songs have two seperate channels, one with the music and one with vocals. When he does this it basically takes out the vocal channel. When it doesn't work for you, that means either the mp3 has been compressed into one channel, or just didn't have two seperate ones in the first place.

  • Doesn't work well at all when you use Offspring songs, all that goes away is mostely the drums exept the Hi-Hat

  • Um is there anyway to keep the voice n mute the music? would it just be the opposite or something?

  • i get complete silence

  • ok so how do you remove the music from the backround so it's just someone singing

  • it really helped but my song was now or never and it still has a little voice but thanks anyways

  • THANK YOU

  • Mostly works well, also it seems it just cuts out centered tracks & leaves left & right tracks, so when I try to work out a song on guitar doing this, most the lead tracks are cut out.

  • Will never work. Lot's of artifacts and bad sounding music. My suggestion: If you wanna get rid of the vocals in a song, turn down the volume till its gone.

  • How do I copy the same wavelength in audiacity? cuz my mp3 files has only one wavelength but others has two wavelength in the same place. pls. reply & help me

  • When you export it as an MP3, it combines the two wavelength together, so don't worry ;)

  • wow it works

    thank you

  • this bullshit doesn't work! If it cant work for rap songs then whats the point?

  • and what if I want to remove the background music and keep the vocals? just the vocals? :D hm? do you know how to?anyone ?

  • its actually easier than removing the vocals, you need an instrumental only song and the normal song with vocals, line them both up in audacity and then invert one of them, the music will cancel out because they're inverted but because one has vocals, the vocals will be left. Done.

  • gotts give it to yah mann...for free this isnt all that badd and you are a smart kid thanks for that help

  • what does LAME mean?

  • LAME is the name of the company that created the MP3 file.

  • Lame stands for

    Lame Aint an MP3 Encoder

    Fo' Sheezy.

  • when i set it to mono on a rap song it cuts the beat out to. why?

  • Cause it's on both channels the same beat, when you have drums, one drum is more on left, seccond more on right and then it doesn't cut it...

It cuts just the same things on both channels

  • when i set mono on there dont come eny sound what do i do ???

  • can you make a video on taking out the music and having the vocals only.

  • you have to do the same as this tutorial, once u have the vocal, import it to ur vid editor and ur music video also, mute ur music vid and there u have it! its only ur vocal..its not complicated..im being honest

  • i also just want the vocals to play. can you make a video of taking out the instrumental.

  • Not possible, with out screwing up the music :o

  • can you do this the other way around?? like remove the instrumentals/background music and keep only the vocals??

but anyway thanks. i needed this haha

  • Nope

  • omg he does :o

  • lol?

  • yeah rap don't work very well.

  • Yep, too much base, all the booming :P

  • im trying to edit an sound bite that i converted to MP3 and all that junk and i want to get the laughing and back ground noise how of it..i just want to hear the voice (its a stand up comedy thing) if you want me to send you the file or if you have a tip...please answer back

  • No one seems to be helping me out.. Im wanting to Rip the vocals.. meaning Have JUST vocals.. no music!! How can i do that?

  • Can't, you'll need an expensive media editor.

  • good song, attack by soad!

  • mhmh :)

  • yoyo it dont work for me i still hear the voice and when i hit amplify it just makes it back to normal. can i make acapellas here??

  • can you take vocals from one song and the instrumental from another to combine one song on audacity?

  • That would be extremely tough to do, you would have to go out and buy yourself an expensive media editor to do that, sorry :(

  • im thinking about buying one for remixes :)

  • you can but i have no clue how, and u can get it illegally ^^

  • good shit mate

  • u sound like ur 10.. cool tutorial! :)

  • you're an amazinq help!

    thank you :] x3

  • No problem :)

  • No problem :)

  • i dont think rap/ hip hop will even work....to much stereo being used

  • when i press play it zips throught the entire thing in like 2 sec when the song is 4 min.

  • huh nvm i got it fixed

  • CRAP! it doesnt work. ima gonna go do something else.... NOPE! This medthod definitly doesnt work. AND NO ONE ELSE HAS A DIFFERNT METHOD.

  • That's doesn't works. I used 2 pac - Thug mansion and nothing change :(. Please help!
