  • Well i don,t know wts gnna happen to owen now he is just finished now

  • too short and it's english

  • i thought the title said micheal own goal vs argentina

  • wait was that in the same game that beckham got sent off?

  • Never fulfilled his potential, but a good goal nonetheless. Great run.

  • Yes my son, that one's for the Falklands!

  • Kau kn sllu di hti, gol gol mu kan sllu di knang. . . .

  • Owen was the best in England until he left us Reds. He's with scum united now and guess what - he's now a bench-warmer and fills in for the other players when they play Benfica and Galati.

A brilliant player who wasted his final years

  • He'll always be the face of England

  • Amazing!!! I remember as if it was today. I was 17 back then and I jumped up from my couch screaming " WOOOWW".....and I´m German.

  • Lol i thought the title ment his own goal against England

  • @Flygerianmc u r stupid

  • The most undeserved recipient of a premier league winners medal!!!!!!! Even Wes Brown and David May did more to win their medals and they were shite. He plays the odd game here and there while spending most of his time sitting on the bench or laying on the operating table then picks up a medal at the end disgraceful!!!

  • Splendida gol

  • Top comment is a fucking idiot and not a liverpool fan.

First Rafa didnt want Owen to leave , owen found out Madrid were interested and he wanted to go , its his carras and gerrards book , and he admited he wanted to go.

he left liverpool in the summer of 04 , and liverpool won the europeon cup in may 05 .. he could have won the biggest prize in club football but decided otherwise. since then it has been downhill , boasting about his PL medal is his best after scoring 1 goal all season.

  • im argentine, but this goal was amazing,

  • I still think he should be playing for England, at international level he's miles ahead of some of the shite we have playing up front

  • @Fiakosorio England slaughtered the Argentines when they tried to in invade the Falklands, Argentina went bye bye...

  • Argentina 2 (4) - England 2 (3).... Argentina go avanced to Quarterfinal, England Bye bye...

  • Glory Glory! One of the best World Cup goals in history.

  • 23 people are Argentinian.

  • I can't believe that only this year he won his first BPL title. I'm a man utd fan, I loved Owen at Liverpool and I still do at Utd obvs.

  • big big big owen one of my favorites of the england national

  • lets be honest he had one decent season at real and then his carear went drasticly down hill maybe rafa did right just like torres now he seems to be heading the same way as owen once them injuries take a yard of pace out of a striker there not the same

  • @dannymb86 but if he hadn't have gone to Real, and played for 3/4 more seasons (for example) at Liverpool he'd have still been on top form. Injuries ruined his career, that's the bottom line. He was undoubtably prolific and lethal.

  • @10stokesy not really he had a full first seaon at newcastle b4 the injuries set in and wasnt to clever for them, obv the injuries didnt help but as with any player like owen who relied maybe a tad to much on his pace hes at his peak at 22-24

  • Greatest stiker ever.

  • i cant believe this goal has been voted the second best goal of the world cup, there are others so much better than this.

  • @argentinodiegomarado Oh really? how about Maradona's goal, wasn't it similar? And how about all those players that chase him and are nowhere about to stop him. He is the best

  • splendidagol

  • Miss the days when he was banging them in, it's not fair that such a talent was destroyed by injuries and alex ferguson

  • Splendid

  • the england team was quite good in those days.

euro 96 was a great tournament for england, but personally glen hoddles england in 98 i thought was better...especially as it was away from home, and against better opposition. and glen hoddle was sacked or forced to quit wasn't he??? since then england turned boring, and one demensional, except for the very very very odd match... they looked very good against ghana, mind. england just need a good defensive midfielder. Barry is shit

  • @Sponheimsquarepants he was basicly given the oppurtunity 2 resign b4 they sacked him for comments he made in the media, in a disscusion bout disabled people he said he believed they where being punished for bad deads in a past life, not really a clever thing to say lmao

  • What a feeling he would have felt at that time. At such young age playing for his country. It was not his skill that led him to the goal but it was pure determination from Owen. He almost tripped after being tackled but he still went on and scored the goal. The celebration clearly proved that and I'm sure he knew it's just an beginning !

  • splendeda goal

  • why do brits hate Owen so much, he clearly was one of the best footballers they've ever produced and if it wasn't for his knee injury arguably the greatest and most talented.

  • good striker, but needed the ball played for him to run on to it and england of late just lob the ball up field like they're scared of it...

  • He runs as if Bastardo wasn't even there

  • We are never going to have a player quite like Owen again :(

  • @smileyTn7

i agree,he was the best striker.i will love him till i die

  • Fuck!! I'm getting old, i remember see that goal live

  • The Golden Boy...what a pity for the rest of career...

  • @SmashingMercury yeah, it must have been shit to win almost everything there is to win in the game, score 40 goals for your country and play for Real Madrid, Liverpool and Man United. I bet the poor cunt cant sleep at night thinking how he'd have turned out if he was as good as Defoe, Bent and Heskey.

  • Wayne Rooney tried to take mastering lessons from Michael Owen but failed really badly

  • @resilienceman Because rooney is a greedy fat money grabbing granny shagger, A class of his own..

  • I wouldn't say he was the best but he was world class undoubtedly, really sharp.

But his game was all about quick feet and not silky skill, so once the injuries slowed him down he became average.

  • Was potentially one of the all-time greats, but sadly unlucky to be born with glass tendons, which killed his pace and skill from his early twenties.

  • @CodeTwo2 yep agree just like ronaldo, both suffered early chronic injuries which stuffed their careers.

even though they make more money than you and i in a week.

  • Owens biggiest mistake was leaving Liverpool.

  • that's better than Maradona's

  • @BarriosGroupie .are you insane?it was a great goal but maradonnas was from in his own half and passed 5 people i think.lolmessis was also better than this ablbeit vs a very poor getafe side.

  • Very few goals have ever made me leap out of the chair, drop down to my knees and drum the floor with my fists while shouting 'YEEEAAARRRGGHHH!" This one did that.

  • awesome goal bt i don't see why fifa considers it the 2nd best goal of the century i had seen better

  • @Melgas14 i totally agree

  • this guy needs to play for england again. forget heskey and rooney, put him and crouch up there.

  • @1zv hahahahahahaha

  • Pongan el gol de Campbell que era el 3-2 a favor de Inglaterra y fue anulado injustamente por el arbitro pretextando carga indebida al arquero Roa, cuando ni lo toco.

  • the only reason he scored is because ayala, the last defender sux. he destroyed argentina (and also i think was playing in valencia) on every championship he played. remember the goal from bergcamp... owen was fast when was young, same a rooney. when they get older they are useless...

  • @maria790609 Ayala was easily one of the best defenders in the world for about 10 years. For pure defensive ability superior to the likes of Cannavaro or Vidic. Ask any Valencia fan. The reason he scored is because Owen was on absolute FIRE at this time in his career.

  • Owen was the greates finisher, what goal scorer...

  • the most respected striker of his era...point blank period

  • we germans kicked you out of the world cup :D

  • @styleproductions1 and we're gonna do the same with you HAHAHHAHA ...BYE BYE

  • @styleproductions1 Well not really Germans was it? A Turkish midfield and Polish forwards did well against England admittedly but the German defenders did not have much to do in the multi national team the German federation fielded.

  • @tigerarmyrule .lol and what about enlgand you idiot? lennon, swp, johnson, etc are not ethic english.

  • @987costa My dear chap I know aht many "england" players are not in any ethnic sense English. However that does not mean that the "German" team is not in fact Turko Polish as much as "German". In an era of mass migration national teams in sport are redundant and meaningless since in effect nations bound by blood and ethnicity no longer exist.

  • @styleproductions1 Our octopus kicked you Germans out of the World Cup :D

  • Owen's biggest mistake was Real Madrid. Should he maintained at Liverpool, his career might not be blurred like what happen nowadays.

  • @darkstar3x16 broke his leg in the 06 world cup didnt he?

  • What happened to Michael Owen anyway?

  • @darkstar3x16 he left liverpool went to real madrid and was never the same player...ohh and fuck loads of injuries

  • Why is this chosen as the second best goal of the century? I've seen many better ones.

  • @livingeasi. Pretty much any professional player can score a goal from long distance. It's when a single player dribbles and weaves his way through the defence all on his own and finishes with a goal, it's true class. Search "The Goal of the Century by Mandonna" He does the same thing here but sprints sixty metres right through six players and scores, all in ten seconds.

  • LOOK AT THE PACE!!

  • back when Owen had pace. What a brilliant striker he was from 1997-2002.

  • Robert green is a retard

  • gosh we need him now if only he was in his prime now

  • Owen will sadly never be as good again like he was during his Liverpool days.

  • he was 18!!!!

crazy! i was skipping classes in high school when i was 18

  • amazing at 18 years old he outskilled exprinced footballers

  • Wish he was going to the world cup!

  • In response to TheAdawg12345 - Owen didn't make a mistake leaving Liverpool. His problem has not been his decisions about who to play for, but his injuries. I really like him as a player and enjoy the great goals he has scored, but the only reason I haven't seen more of him is due to his bad luck with knocks etc. I also really felt for David Beckham when his injury excluded him from this World Cup and the chance to break the record.

  • @woodygee I agree with you. I'm a Liverpool supporter and if I remember rightly Rafa didn't want him to stay at Liverpool so he had to go. It's shocking to think all he has won since leaving Liverpool is 1 Carling Cup with Man Utd and that he will never become Englands top goalscorer. He had that in the bag once. Injuries let him down and you can't blame him for that. Thats why even though he plays for a rival club I will always smile when I see he's scored. A model professional in my opinion.

  • @grahamcoo i love you for that comment because i fell the same for owen. and i wouldn't mind him coming to liverpool and being the role fowler once played. I'm a Liverpool fan in london and he was my idol growing up. but i alway wondered why he left for real madrid was it, him being fed up or rafa

  • @grahamcoo not anymore! premier league champ again!

  • @grahamcoo no. Owen wanted to leave for months and months. He was on the verge of signing a new contract but he put it off time and time again. He messed us around. Rafa didn't want to deal with him so he got rid of him before he was a free agent.

  • @grahamcoo he's finally got the league now too

  • @grahamcoo I am SO SO happy you mentioned the truth. Rafa destroyed his career. He would have won so many titles and noone could have stopped him and Gerrard, just like they couldn't do it before. I love Owen, and God knows how much I wish he still played for the team of my heart

  • @grahamcoo injuries are the result of being played too much at a young age.

  • @grahamcoo Agreed from a Chinese Owen fans.

  • i was 11 years old in 98... and owens wowed me with this goal... amazing.

  • It is sad what has happend to Michael Owen he could have been so good his greatest mistake ever was leaving Liverpool and Owen must know that deep down

  • et dire qu'il venais tout juste d'etre adulte...the real micky,i miss you :(

  • Love this, if you fancy a laugh try Englands worst haircuts, funny as hell

  • Maradona's goal is better than this. Owen Is a good player, but he are death right now.

someone can tell me how finished the game?

    JAJAJAJA

    PD. Im argentinian :D

  • @shuliishulii AHHHHHH it feels good to have the Fawklands

  • overrated

  • great image quality (?)

  • Sexy goal for a sexy man.

  • shut up you queer faggot

  • Amazing talent, wasnt he?

  • Owen would have been an amazing player had injury not plagued him, still though, for being 18 this clearly is an excellent piece of work, not many 18 year olds could pull it off.

  • this goal is so overrated

  • @MadMacanian Owen was 18 years old.

This was a world cup match. What makes it over rated?

  • he ways only 18 years old. That is an insane goal at that level for an 18 year old..

  • @uhtoni For anyone! :)

  • imagine if Owen had stayed as fast as that, and hadn't had so many injuries, he would have been amazing.

  • Falkands Islands Argentinas! =)

  • @SuperPatasa7 You can't even spell it right, so clearly you don't deserve them.

  • disculpa solo lo dije para molestar a los ingleses pero en realidad no tengo nada contra Inglaterra, no hay paltas, es más me caen simpáticos, saludos y abrazos... =)

  • @SuperPatasa7 My dear fellow, that doesn't even LOOK like english, you really need to try harder. I believe that gorillas have been taught hundreds of words of english, perhaps you should try their technique.

    All the best,

    Your Imperial Overlord.

  • yo se que puedes estar enojado pero yo también deberia pedirte que hables español... =)

  • Nope, I'm afraid no-one understands that anthropologically-stunted mewling - however, I commend your efforts in not giving in to the domination of the anglosphere.

    Unfortunately, you're doomed.

  • si me consiguieras un traductor... =)

  • @FactualTruthProvider You are probably one of the funniest people I've ever ran across on here. I'm fucking dying.

  • @SuperPatasa7 Well England stomped ur asses when u tried to take em, and they sailed from the otherside of the ocean. Plus the island is full of people who are English in background so no, no it isn't yours. It belongs to England.

  • Wow! Really? I didn't know that, thanks for that little nugget of information. Anything else you'd like to share?

  • I remember this match... I was 16, just got off work in a tornado, went home, and the damn power went out on the decisive PK. It was so cliche'd my whole fam just all sat there like WTF....

  • @funcdoktor Ha that's genius... At least you were saved from the immediate anguish

  • @spo0ny2k Lol... well that's the thing. I had no stake in who won, just wanted to see what happened in a very intense rivalry. Even this then-adolescent yank [yours truly] knew what had gone down in '86! The power going out on that last kick was the anguish!!

  • This was the best match I had ever watched in my life.

  • absoulely world class, in his prime he was the best

  • saf should use owen more frequently I think

  • @TolangJenny dam right

  • It certainly was spendid

  • splendida goal

  • @ghostfry123 splendigo*

  • owen is the best ....but at man utd ...saf is not giving him chances ...he is putting berba over him ..and saf is getting screwd every tym ....berba will never score even if there is no goalkeeper berba will mis.....glory glory owen

  • I love Owen but Berba is on fire at the moment and has always been a great player i dont know how saf is getting screwed by berba

  • i agree, and sadly its true. but berba does score some good goals, owens just gotta build himself up. look at the 95th minute derby winner. thats why he started the next game, and then got injured. But i got faith in owen, hopefully hell be there for england in the world cup also!

  • berba isnt meant for scoring, hes meant for making plays, slowing down the play, getting uniteds act togehter when theyre playing bad.and hes improing in scoring in the past weeks to, hat trick for bulgaria for eg...though i do agre about saf shold be giving owen more chances.

  • i dont know what manchester united you are looking at but the tov is on fire for us. hes earning his right to play and hes doing extremely well. i admit that owen isnt getting as many changes as he should be to try and get his true potential but i wouldnt doubt saf he knows what hes doing.

  • yeah because you lead a team to win two champions league, 11 premier leagues, 5 F.A. cups, and many more trophies .. You dont know anything compared to fergie, he does what he does, and you might not see it now, but tomorrow you will be like oh he was right!

  • 100% agree with you, Owen is still a world class striker, he needs more chances...not only that if he has a great season it will also be good for england in south africa

  • how would you deal with his injuries?

    - - he seems pretty hurt.

  • berbatov score vs wigan vs stoke vs sunderland and vs blackburn

  • "Splendide gol!"

  • owen the second best player alive ... after R9 the best of the history

  • retard

  • paha

  • WHO WON THAT GAME?

  • 2-2, Argentina won with penalties

  • arg

  • Argentina on penalties, lucky bastards, but looks like they won't be attending the world cup in South Africa so the jokes on them.

  • maradona's goal

  • fault***

  • Was the greatest goal in history, and you're point is?

  • i was replying to jakewalker16's comment and i meant to type "maradona's fault" but somehow i typed "maradona's goal", didn't you see my correction????

  • A hell of a lot of you Liverpool fans are incredibly bitter about this, you seem to be forgetting just how much he did for your club when he was there.

He had the oppurtunity to play for the biggest team in the world ( Madrid), im sure tiven the chance the majority of us would.

Im happy he is back playing for a good club, its good for the England team, he will score goals this season and will be in south Africa.

This goal is one of the greatest world cup goals ever as well.

  • Rafa asked him to be a LFC player, he chose mancs, that's too bad;[

  • how old is he?

  • I think Owne is 30-31 now.

and this goal was really beautiful as he kicked to the opposite upper corner after running fastly the whole defense

  • Owen:)

  • He's 29.

  • he is 29

  • i think he's 29

  • 29, 30 in December

  • 29 i thought

  • What was so good about this goal was that Owen was what? 17, 18? But also that it was such a great game. Sol Campell's goal in extra time tho should have been allowed.

  • best of the best

  • second best century goal? HJAAHAHAHAHAHA OMFG

  • all u liverpool supporters are the same when a great player leaves u. spiteful fucking cunts

  • EXACTLY, when owen was sucking shit in newcaslte, they didnt want to buy him back, but they spent a ridiculous amount for a 6month donkey.

And when united get him on free transfer, liverpool supporters act as if rafa benitez went to the end of the world to sign him, but he couldnt .

  • Well said there man.

  • back before he was a money grabing wanker glad he strugled after leaving liverpool just hope it gets worse for him. judas cunt

  • Owen's the reason why I started liking Liverpool like 10 years ago.. now he's at ManU .. contemplations

  • Yeah he was mine too, Now Ofc its gerrard

Take my hat off to owen tho, his coming to the end of his career and hasnt had luck maybe man utd, Which is a good team.. will give him the chances he needs to play his type of football

  • welcome to the best club in the world, Michael Owen 7

  • go fuck yourself barcelona pussy

  • shh fuckin jealous

  • lol whenever i read "micheal owen's goal" it makes me think it says "micheal owen own goal"

  • Owen is a natural goal scorer but he needs good service which he'll get at Man Utd unlike at Newcastle. I think he'll do well as a Man Utd player if he stays fit. He reminds me of Van Nistelrooy I know that sounds a bit weird, they dont score amazing 35 yard goals all the time but they always seem to get the ball in the net consistently.
