I am not very happy about CFL because three times CFL already burn out and smoke into air. Mecury vapor air that make my left eye become blind for 45 second and restore my left eye to see again for first time. I hate CFL because of mercury and HIGH EMF! I bough LED light without Mercury and some other low 25 or 60 watt incadescend light bulbs. CFL is very dangerous because fire and smoke mecury vapor into air. BAN lousy CFL!

Mecury vapor air that make my left eye become blind for 45 second and restore my left eye to see again for first time. I hate CFL because of mercury and HIGH EMF! I bough LED light without Mercury and some other low 25 or 60 watt incadescend light bulbs. CFL is very dangerous because fire and smoke mecury vapor into air. BAN lousy CFL!

@ASLforever100 We have been using CFL bulbs all over the house for about 4 years. Not one bulb has burned out! I dont like the LED bulbs because they cost more, and dont put out quite as much light!

@OldTimerGuy58 @OldTimerGuy58 I use low watts from 25 to 40 watt for bedroom for incandescent light bulbs. I have LED with plastic bub (not metal under Led bulb) for outside and overnight without burn or hot. I leave Led light on day and night for room.

General Electric is the largest producer of these CFL light bulbs in the world. They are produced very in only China. GE has a very strong lobby in Washington which may ( and you can bet on it ) have caused this to become law. GE invested in the future by using payola to pass this law.
Everyone who has used these bulb knows that they do not light a room anywhere near as efficiently as an incandescent bulb.

I hope Canada has a system in place for the disposal of all those CFL's. When the public starts tossing millions of those in the trash, and they break. The combined mercury content of all those bulbs is going to be a public saftey hazard.

@Vethraxx at the Local Dump the workers say "Toss and RUN fast" now that is beyond careless, its insane for the workers who stand there all day and demand nothing from senior staff. I spoke to the person in charge and they said that Recycle plants have more material to use then they can process, sometimes 80% recycle goes to the dump. If thats true what firm is going to want to separate Mecury & Glass? would think the CFL industry whos likely too cheep to bother raising their costs to do so

Fact, Florescent tubes which contain over 120% MORE mercury then CFL's have been in wide spread use in the USA for over 70 years.! Since the 1930's billions of fluorescent tubes containing as much as 25+mgs of mercury each have been dumped into our landfills and all of a sudden now you're concerned puleasee.!

@Vethraxx A few facts that GE don't want you to know.. CFL's only contain 1.4mgs of mercury while the average 4 foot fluorescent contains as much as 12.5mg's
The average home has 8 "4 foot fluorescents" Each one of those tubes contain 120% more mercury then a CFL. There are 100's of millions of additional 4 and 8 foot fluorescents in use in offices and business's. 100's of Billions of these Fluorescent tubes have been dumped into our landfills over the last 70 YEARS.!

Another thing they forgot to mention is when they are disposed they leak mercury into the ground water. If they break in your house, mercury dust.
