Interesting but it is all speculation and fiction, in the powerful imagination and dreams of Michio Kaku. I may agree with the arrogance, pride and war freaking nature of man as a hindrance to a high level of transition, but, I have seen the light in Christ. Read Colossians 3:1-17, and see how Christ Jesus reveals himself to man, yes, to all mankind, as we open our hearts and spirit to God.
Once we can travel to other Universes we shouldn't move to fast, for at that point the faster we move the closer we near the end. If there is an infinite number of universes there will be an infinite number of civilizations, most will be socially advanced but some will be malevolent down to pure probability as it is possible hence it must happen.
so as we advance, we become more noticeable & we contact others more fast, which means we'll be destroyed by a hostile civilization sooner.

@Wingelite, Think of the 100s of 1000s of species that have become extinct in the last 1000 years. The odds have it that humans are going to go into extinction having been around an unusually long 500,000 years out of the 5,000,000,000 Earth has existed. We've overstayed our welcome!
I extremely urge everyone who is interested in this direction see; The Venus Project, which proposes a global Resource Based Economy. The Zeitgeist movement is the activist arm of this project. The resources of the planet must be declared the common heritage of everyone and everything on earth if we are to ensure our own survival.
All this is is human anxiety for the future. In other words, it's pointless to ponder about it. This commentary only makes sense in the present of the past. Basically, to talk about the future is only contingent through the perspective of the present of the past.

how about your life. the one you are experiencing right now?
is it worth it the way you having right now. How would you like to find your self when you are to old and just about to die. What would you have in your memories. Would you be proud of what have you done?
Stop worrying about your self or the future.
Live now. This moment. Get fresh breath where ever you are. Live
i reckon all the brightest minds are sent away to mars and Nuke everyone else then their offspring can return in the future under one government and use budgets on science. I liked his episode of physics of the impossible with galactic colonization.
Or the other possibility, we destroy ourselves, but some survive. Build ships like Battlestar Galactica, fill them with people, send them off to Gleise 581c. After multiple generations, they will arrive and continue the existence of our species on a new planet. Only other thing I would suggest, is when selecting the people to go on these ships, only take those believe that religion, politics and everything else that makes people hate and want to kill each other is not worth bringing along.
The citizens in Star Wars are NOT immortal, neither are the people in Star trek. I think this is a bad analogy. The Monoliths could be considered Type 2 or 3.
Imagine how advanced our species would be if the TRILLIONS of dollars we blow on stupid wars was spent on space exploration and scientific discovery? That Supercollider in Europe costs less than one percent as much as our stupid wars in the middle east and the Moon mission Nasa wants to have but cannot get funding for would cost about one eighth as much as those stupid "bailouts" our government gave to irresponsible corporations.
Theory all right! i think the technology part is the easiest part, the most difficult part is to have everyone working in the same goal for everybody's sake, we are still to selfish for that. The rich governments don´t want to lose their advantage over much richer countries (speaking about natural resources) but with bad governments (whose mistakes their countries carry for hundreds of years),how would they keep themselves on top if they don`t produce enough for themselves.
He cites terrorists as the main opponents of a tolerant planetary society, but I would put dogmatic small-government advocates and war-mongers in industrialized countries in that group as well.
@Joeofiowa Unfortunately, as interesting and as smart as this guy is, he works for NASA; which has been controlled by the military for years. So you can't fully trust anything he says.
I think this guy is so smart , i agree totally , my theory is that we planted ourselves here back in time to grow and evolve back to a level 3 civilization to evade the end of time , way in the future and the cycle will repeat again and again.
to achive this transition you would need leadres without interests of their own but with comunal interest as a type of global socialism in wich the main interest is for the whole human raze uniting to achive the level one transition and i think thats gonna be hard as hell
@MegaChulo69 All countries unite, 1 leader...holy crap that would be almost impossible. It seems like we're hundreds, if not, thousands of years away from that. Perhaps if there is little time left and all humans know it, they would unite as one but keep their country seperate. KInda like United States. Each state holds its own,but all united to function as one. If humans make it to type 3 civilization, there is a chance that they would conquer for resources..
to achive this transition you would need leadres without interests of their own but with comunal interest as a type of socialism in wich the main interest is for the whole human raze uniting to achive the level one transition and i think thats gonna be hard as hell
This is forgetting the extreme cost of western multiculture... which is mostly about dragging for humanitarian reasons million upon millions of extremist bums to live in our backyards.
Rather than say take the most capable ones, those willing to work etc..
No, chances are we will simply bog down into inefficcient inertia before the long night of losing technologies will begin.
And quite unlikely fr a new rise, as the resources will have been largely spent.
The more I thought about it being impossible to travel faster than light somthing else dawned to mind. We thought the sun travelled around the sun. We thought the earth was flat. We thought we would never fly. We thought the sound barrier would not be broken. Light speed is just another obstacle to overcome.
if we took money spent on war, and spend it on science, we would 100's of years advanced of what we are now. the military industrial complex of the u.s. is the downfall of the earth.
so global warmming is good i think beucase then that means if we run out of power from fossil fuels then we can go to type 2 civilization to use the power of the sun and if the sun runs ouw we use other stars.
A super nova can destroy a type 2 civilization. Your just saying I can't be killed by anything if I just avoid it. NO SHIT. But a super nova is like a car accident. Very hard to avoid once your in it. A black hole can suck in a star a hundred times its own size. Not even light can escape that. Stupid logic.
@kitsune2222 to some degree you are right but the devices we use nowadays are very premitive and do not take in 100% of the suns energy. But maybe 100 years from now we might be taking 100% of the suns, but off the top of my head, cant remember, I believe we only get like 30% today.
we need to reorganize our government with young educated racist and ignorant free individuals who instead of pumping money on war and control of world oil, invest in science and technology, and the distribution of that technology.
lol the human race has lasted over a 100000 years, your statement is very naive. even if a massively destructive event occurred on earth, there will be people who will find their ways to survive. unless the entire planet exploded into tiny bits
@larry89 not entierly true if a n astroid 200km in diameter were to hit the earth it would be so violent it would vaporize all water on the face of the earth and it wouldn't rain back down for centuries because it would be in orbit of the planet. and if its that hot to do that to the oceans it would ignite every single living thing on the planet. the surface would be entirely lifeless because the only things able to with stand such heat live under ground. and planet would still be here in 1 pece
None of this will become reality, simply because of the growing control of world governments will cause the dumbing down of the countries population (to keep anyone from becoming to informed). You can see evidence of this all the time. By one hundred years, the average global intelligence will be lower than it is even today.
This guy would only make sense if mankind were to unite as one, not waste some trillion dollars each year on military equipment but on scientific research, development and global welfare. Humans are too greedy and egotistical to care for the better good of everyonelse.
I doubt fusionpower will become a reality until all oil and coal reserves has been depleted.
Yeah well the trillion dollars spent on military equipment could be what is required to defeat the elements of the planet that are working for its destruction.
some great points, but to have global welfare i would focus more on sterilization than feeding and helping those who would die out without our help... this artificial survival for useless eaters doesn't serve our evolution...
just as running out of whale oil led to ground oil exploration so goes your idea... we already are switching to solar and wind, etc... free market supply and demand will dictate our modus operandi for energy use... and we need to vote down our military budget!
@Xeno867 Dude, humans barely have 5 thousand years of civilization. Do you know what 5 thousand years represent when these are the first 5 thousand? Almost nothing! What I mean is, we are too young. We don't even reach the scale of civilization evolution. The guy does make sense, because he said that we´re type 0. It is normal for a type 0 to be greedy and egotistical. Thats why he said that most of civs don't reach type 1.
i hate the way ppl hate him cause hes an asian that sucks im an arabian i no how he feels i know ther is cool ppl from us uk but i hate those racist fags i have 1 message for them " get a life "
i mean i believe in jesus but im not a christian im a muslim but in our religon all those ho came from god we have to believe in like moses jesus and others
and mostly we have to believe in our god islam and our prophet mohamed
ummmmm well if he means starting from 2000 but he never said the starting year maybe in 2057 we are type 1 have you seen his future cities looks type 1 everything is ran by cpus 3d graphics the birth of type 1 civilizaion 2057 or 2050
If u raise a child well and allow that child to thrive. It just turn out to be a healthy intelligent adult regardless of race/creed - Dr Kaku is example of such adult.
I know many such adults - God bless them their parnets. We need to spend time developing our minds and serving others without victimizing ourself.
Yes, explore ur passions and contribute. Who knows, you could give us next
Interesting stuff, I believe we'll make it, even with all the empathy in the world. I see acts of kindness all around. It's a bit sappy. However, I'm willing to bet a beer that along with the persistence of the human spirit, love concurs all, and thats the main reason we'll make it.

Who are the terrorist? As far as I know, it's our leaders. No human on the planet earth would EVER do such terrible things. WE know who they are and WE NOW need to stand up and take back the control my brothers & sisters
Terrorists do not care about type 1 civ. They do not even know what it means! Terrorism is only a kind of virus affecting current "democratic" systems making them evolve into either theocratic or totalitarian (in parts or in full), but they do not really threathen the global system as our world is only at a few years from becoming a type 1 civ...
Didn't M. Kaku say that a type 1 civilization will take a hundred - i.e. 2100 AD - years? If - and its a big IF - what he says is true then yes we do see signs of this type of civilization (GoogleEarth, Nanotechnology, the emergence of pan-national economic-political unions, Global news network, renewable energy sources e.g. tidal/wind energy generators etc) but its gonna be a long drawn out process alot of people are gonna get hurt. Quite a price.
It might only be flash in the pan at that. There are a number of people who would point out that if we achieve that level of power and resource consumption before we make a real effort to expand into space and reap the rewards of doing so, that lovely type 1 phase isn't going to last very long.
Wow, this guy is so ideologically invested it's ridiculous. To present future events and unforseen circumstances as empirical facts with neat categories is at the very least condescending.
I mean, do we really want Arnold Schwartzenegger and blue jeans absolutely everywhere, all across the galaxy? :)
the terrorists?? wtf this is silly,, another way the media infests ,,,the future is oneness and peaceful,,but that is the future the ones that are asleep really don't like to even establish,,they say ur a hippie or stop dreaming,,Well I say to those individuals, maybe you should stop dreaming and try n join the future.
The Terrorists exist, but not the way most people see them. I see the Terrorists as those fanatical leaders who turn the gun on their own people, while saying they are being protected. (Think about the Patriot act, and how that gives unbalanced powers.) The Terrorists in this day and age are the people who refuse change, thus, it is the Oil, and wepon manufacturing companies who don't want this new world to exist.
I think we are moving too quickly to space and will be one of the nations that destroys itself. If you look at history, empires end when their economies fail. With the government using tax money to fund space programs, they are not thinking of longterm economic benefits, which could ruin our economy. If left up to the free market, space exploration would become economically beneficial and although it might be slower, we would have a higher chance of success.
Interesting but it is all speculation and fiction, in the powerful imagination and dreams of Michio Kaku. This guy would only make sense if mankind were to unite as one, not waste some trillion dollars each year on military equipment but on scientific research, development and global welfare. Humans are too greedy and egotistical to care for the better good of everyonelse.
I doubt fusionpower will become a reality until all oil and coal reserves has been depleted.

you read my mind <.<

Yeah well the trillion dollars spent on military equipment could be what is required to defeat the elements of the planet that are working for its destruction.

Agreed... Unfortunately agreed.

some great points, but to have global welfare i would focus more on sterilization than feeding and helping those who would die out without our help... this artificial survival for useless eaters doesn't serve our evolution...
just as running out of whale oil led to ground oil exploration so goes your idea... we already are switching to solar and wind, etc... free market supply and demand will dictate our modus operandi for energy use... and we need to vote down our military budget!

Thats why he said that most of civs don't reach type 1.

some lyrics from PETS by PORNO FOR PYROS:
"Will there be another race
To come along and take over for us?
Maybe martians could do
Better than we've done
We'll make great pets!"

And I say, "Dismantle the Shinkansen/Bullet-Train !" Replace it, with horses, and stables at 20 km intervals. Then we might find Ourselves true....

Interesting. But at the same time you overlook appreciating this at a spiritual level or even a quantum physics level.

Michio Kaku is a god
I wonder if I can even be considered to work under him
Perhaps i'm under estimating myself and that i'd be a great contribution with his ideas.

Who knows, you could give us next
gr8 idea and Dr. Kaku may work with you.

Terrorism is only a kind of virus affecting current "democratic" systems making them evolve into either theocratic or totalitarian (in parts or in full), but they do not really threathen the global system as our world is only at a few years from becoming a type 1 civ...
sentrynox 3 years ago
AmNotHere911 3 years ago
It might only be flash in the pan at that. There are a number of people who would point out that if we achieve that level of power and resource consumption before we make a real effort to expand into space and reap the rewards of doing so, that lovely type 1 phase isn't going to last very long.

Wow, this guy is so ideologically invested it's ridiculous. To present future events and unforseen circumstances as empirical facts with neat categories is at the very least condescending.
I mean, do we really want Arnold Schwartzenegger and blue jeans absolutely everywhere, all across the galaxy? :)

If there are several type 3 civilizations how is it possible we didn´t see one of them? and how do they do to not disturb one another?

the terrorists?? wtf this is silly,, another way the media infests ,,,the future is oneness and peaceful,,but that is the future the ones that are asleep really don't like to even establish,,they say ur a hippie or stop dreaming,,Well I say to those individuals, maybe you should stop dreaming and try n join the future.
papertigerlove00 4 years ago
