If I could go back in time, I would want to meet Karen carpenter. I'm 17 years old. She is the most amazing singer I have ever heard. I wish I could sing just like her. But it's impossible. Her voice was "practically perfect in every way."
The Carpenters' music is wonderful and I've loved it since I was a kid - my mom listened to it and I grew up with the songs of the 70's...to me it's the best time for music!
@lcd2201-yes, but if you've seen the video you know that she delivers the goods, unlike so many others who are play pop-star dress up but need auto tune to be tolerable.
when you have overbearing, controlling parents at a young age it changes your life. We develop our personalities before we are 5 years old. The lesson that all you parents of young children should learn is be good role models because if you don't they will grow up just like you. we are all one. peace.
Very touching commentaries about Karen ,especially at the end you can see tears well up in Dorothy Hamill's eyes, and when I saw that tears welled up in my eyes also. Miss ya Karen. Thanks for sharing this video.
Wow!, just another comment if ya'll don't mind.. I've expressed how I feel about her/their music.. but to hear such greats here to also be in awe say's it all. The Dionne Warwice one especially.
i agree she was to young but karen gave you the gift of your life if she hadnt had this terrible disease you mite never have seen sense and you mite not be here today because of it i wish she hadnt died either but she has probably saved alot of young girls and guys lives by doing so may she rest in peace
25 years and the perfect angelic voice lives on -- Viva la voce! And as Casey Kasem said, such a lovely, decent person through it all. Where is she now, in this dark age, when we need her? R.I.P.

I love Karen Carpenter. I'll never forget her. That voice, that beautiful, wonderful, words simply can not even begin to describe voice. Such a talent. I'd play her music all the time. I particularly loved Yesterday Once More. What a beautiful human being. I miss you Karen. I really do.
You know how you remember certain moments in your life, like when Kennedy was shot or when Princess Di was killed? You can recall exactly where you were and what you were doing. I remember the news about Karen's passing like that. THE voice will live on forever.
Karen Carpenter was a wonderful singer.... I got their Greatest Hits CD and I play it everyday..... Eventhough, I listen to a total opposite of that music, she was a VERY amazing singer and and AWESOME drummer....
Karen sang from her Heart & Soul. That's the key to an extaordinary musical performance. Her voice was warm, rich, melancholic & true. - pennymusicMama
I remember waiting for a new Carpenters release, as if it were Christmas morning! What an amazing gift to hear her take on a song - for the very first time! I'll always miss that excitement... You simply get lost in the perfection...
she is my favorite female singer... like pure honey and molasses!!!! i grew up listening to The Carpenters and practiced singing to her songs for hours. "Merry Christmas Darling" is the best Christmas song ever!!! Even people who don't care for "easy listening" can't help but love her!!
it could not have been said other than "Karen went to a place that's exactly the same in every human being" damn, oh yeah, instant radio..controlled..thx
My god, I will never get over us losing her; what an unvelievable talent, so pure and genius-listen to those first few albums and you will laugh at today's so called "talent"...Karen-we know.

If Karen Carpenter represents the pinnacle of musical talent, so-called "Badly Drawn Boy" is the opposite - he's a f***in joke.

Complications from Anorexia Nervosa (an eating disorder where the person starves themselves for attention and control).
Her heart failed due to some 13 years of starving herself (a heart attack).
