@JoshPower152 Dung beetle is Lucas's interpretation of Claus before he dies. He still thinks Claus is a robotic monster, and that's what Dung beetle is. Tent person is Claus as an angel, because after he dies, Lucas forgives him and sees him as an angel.

@AceHank2001 It's the enemy. The background is what they WANT you to think the enemy is, so if it was in the final version, the black box would be invisible. The same was done in EarthBound, as Giygas was a background, and his enemy sprite is invisible.

@Plantazm005 originally mother 3(as well as Earthbound 64) were supposed to ditch most of the quarkyness of Mother 1 and 2 and were going to be much darker games. As Earthbound 64 it was supposed to follow the same style as Ocarina of Time(i.e. be true to its series but have a much darker theme and design).
