There's no way he can actually hear that single wedge monitor with the volume of the guitar. Then again, it's hardly surprising that a terrible daytime TV show doesn't have PA equipment to keep up with a 120 dB band.
I've seen Dino J a couple times, it's alway soooo fuking loud! First time I was up front stage left right by the massive house amplifiers, five songs in I had to move cause J's guitar was so loud it was making me dizzy! My eyes were vibrating, it was absolutely amazing!
WTF? I actually signed up for a youtube account to write this. What is one of the best bands, and guitar player of all time playing on Jenny Jones? I actually had to be in school at this time in the 90's. Now his hair is down to his belly, and pure silver. God, have the times changed,. They've opened up for Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, I've seen'm 3 times,. quite under-rated.
I remember seeing them do 'Outta There' on Letterman when 'where you been' came out. They had enormous silver chimes onstage that Paul Schaffer was playing. Anybody remember this? Doesn't seem to be on YouTube
Awesome shit... Appreciated and well received; but, can someone please upload one of J's most amazing feats: "Over Your Shoulder"!!! PLEASE?? Over Your Shoulder, NOW!!! Thank You...
I remember seeing this episode. The weirdest part was afterward when it was revealed having Dino perform was all just a ruse to lure Mascis to Jenny's studio for an awkward confrontation with Lou Barlow and then all hell broke loose during an ambush paternity test with a groupie they both dated.
lmfao this bands only followers are burn out highschool dropouts that wanted to make it in music. The singer sounds like he has cotton in his mouth. Haha
@MegaHegira "Bands" is the plural form of "band" as in multiple; in this case "band's" is possessive. We're not talking it's (contraction for it is) and its (possessive) . atroce. ATROCE. Il periodo veramente bruttissimo dei dinosaur jr. neanche le canzoni belle gli veniva più bene. sentire questa versione di out there mi spezza il cuore. C'è voluto il ritorno di Lou per fargli tornare un po di senso.
Oh wow this was in November of 97, about a month before the broke up. luckily they are back together with the original lineup. I've seen the renunion band and they are still amazing. If you can see this band live, DO IT!
They each pocketed 200 dollers for doin this crappy show!!!!!! So whats everyone gotta say about that???? (btw that would be 350 in todays economy)!!!!! Rock on!
Crappy show --- you better believe it.. Great band ... definitely .. how the hell did they wind up on this flippin' show???? Thanks for posting robot.
I love Dinosaur Jr. I recently had the privilege of seeing them (original line-up: J, Lou, Murph) live and my mind was completely blown, my ears ringing for days afterward. Fantastic. However... this performance is horrendous.
i love dino jr and this very well might be my fav album EVER of any band but if i was 50 yrs old and not a fan and had never heard the album version id think this was the worst song and band in the history of music
well, the crowd of mostly 50yrs old fogies certainly we're clapping along in either appreciation or amusement. at least j can play an instrument. most of these emo jackoffs can't even do that. as long as people think you're trying, as j appears to do, then that is good enough for most people who are already stuck there to watch white trash skanks drag each other across the stage by their hair plugs
At the start of the the clip there is some footage from the first Dino performance on this show, "Never Bought It", where J used his blue sparkly Fender Esquire, that's what nicolasdelcastillo meant
yea dude these vocals arent the best, in the other recording of the same [performance they did awesome though. weird. I saw them about a year ago and the guitar drowned J out, mine as well if his voice has gone that far downhill, but he was never all that good a singer anyways.
ya j sounds like shit. people in the audience were laughing at him i think. i love dino though. jenny jones was a drummer in a "punk" band fyi. thats why she had a lot of bands on her show i think. she liked to help out musicians.
im glad people compared these to nirvana i would never have found out about them if they hadnt. these guys rock! the bass is a bit quite in this vid mind.
I remember when this showed up on the tele, just happened to have Jenny Jones on. When she said Dinosaur were playing I was like "WTF?" Trully, trully strange booking. Andrew%#$^$%&#*#%^*#!
Emo sucks. What does that have to do with this? It was what? 1994? 1995? It was the post-Nirvana "let's jump on the bandwagon and call ourselves grunge" album.
Dinosaur Jr. sounds nothing like Nirvana. J's vocals in now way shape or form resembles Kurt's and Dinosaur uses several intricate solo's and rarely use powerchords, completelly different from Nirvana. If Dinosaur being a Nirvana wanna-be just because they're the same genre then I guess every major rock bands are Beattle and Elvis wanna-be's? Secondly, Dinosaur Jr. was around WAY before Nirvana. They released their first EP in 1985.
Right. This was the surreal post-nirvana explosion period when all the left of the dial undergound mainstays got major label record deals. The buttholesurfers even got signed. I was using DJ's appearance on a daytime talk show to date the clip as pre-emo.
OOOOH!! Okay I see what you're saying, You were more or less referencing that Jenny threw them into her show just so she could be "hip" or whatever. And that's right, alot of big wig's and TV personality did exploit the crap out of the movement, which was one of the leading factors in Grunge dying out because none of them REALLY wanted to be in the spotlight, so they reverted back to the underground. Grunge didn't die, it's just where it should be..the underground. :)
This is so great. Was Jenny Jones the coolest bitch on the planet? Perhaps executive decisions were out of Jenny's hands at this point.
