  • This doesn't sould like a rare track. It sounds like you only are palying either the left or right channel of the recording. Old records generally had the vocals on one channel and the music on the other.

  • I quite enjoyed this, but I'd love to know just how many people were doing back up vocals. I've read that Phil Spector sometimes had a lots of session singers, icluding Cher I believe, on many of his productions.

To me though, Darlene Love will always be the voice for Sppector

  • It's not the power of her voice, which is scary, it's also that she seems to have a natural style and ability to phrase.

  • Look at that waif-like face!! My God! She's such a beautiful, sweet looking girl. Phil had to be out of his mind being privileged to see that face in front of him.

  • ALL they did is cut out the Music Track, NOTHING MORE! It is not any special version...

  • this is an awesome version!! I love the big hair!!

  • Ronettes were the best of the girl groups!!

  • Love this!!! The last of that Frankie Lymon school to be a hit!

  • i live for this music i drive a 66 pontiac and still living in the past and love every minite thanks man for posting .brillant

  • Love those voices, awesome!

  • Did you see that picture at 1:10?

  • Man...I tell ya...with all of this new high tech recording done now that makes anyone sound good...it's amazing to hear how good these women are...no voice shaping, no synthesizers...etc...

  • She's the very best yes she is!!!!

  • Thanks Phil.

  • Sweet!

  • Paul, I had no idea Darlene Love did background with BE MY BABY. Interesting!

  • This is not acappella. I can hear the bed tracks in the background.

  • This is so beautiful.

  • Wow, that is great version.

  • @WALTERBROADDUS ..IT'S MY PLEASURE & THANK YOU,,,,

  • @myraredoowop Is that box set available?? Where?

  • @Jody07984 amazon.com

  • @myraredoowop This box set, as described here, is not on Amazon, as you suggested, that I could find. All they have is the Philles label box set. I'd much prefer the outtakes, studio chat and alternate takes such as I've heard here on your YouTube videos. Isn't there a way to get a copy of that? I tried signing up for your radio shows on WKTR (?) so I could contact you there, but the downloaded programs didn't work.

  • @Jody07984 Hi. this is DJ Rick Ward The Adonis of internet radio NOT ME.

TEL ME WHICH SONG YOU LIKE & I will Send you VIA E-mail as mp3 ,

  • @myraredoowop Hi. I apologize for the confusion. I thought that the recordings were of you. Thank you for your generous offer! I was hoping to get a copy of the complete box set as I'm a big fan of those artists and Phil's work. I also love studio outtakes, chit chat etc. I'm sure I don't have to explain to you the attraction of that. Thanks, again.

  • I think you got what he deserved the way he treated people.

  • This is the best!

  • Effortless genius.....the ronnettes will never be duplicated

  • Ilove her voice, better than Agnetha from Abba

  • Wow Ronnie never sounded better.Rock On

  • The ultimate greaser chick group.

  • Phil took Ronnie out to Los Angeles (from New York) to record this at Gold Studios in Hollywood. Estelle and Nedra fulfilled the commitment the girls had made earlier and went on Dick Clark's tour with their cousin Elaine taking the 3rd spot. Cher and Darlene Love are singing background here and on the final recording. I often wonder what Estelle and Nedra thought, felt when this song made it to #24 and they weren't part of it? Phil jacked everyone around, and now he is rotting in prison.

  • @PaulDePace .yes indeed thank you,

  • @PaulDePace He's never getting out either! If there was any justice, Ronnie, Nedra & Estelle's estate should get the milions they are owed out of his money -- he's not gonna need it anymore! He screwed so many people over, but I personally hold him responsible for what became of Estelle. Now he's finally getting what he deserved for being such a evil, cocky little bastard.

  • @PaulDePace Just seems greed runs amuck in this business on the production and management side. Sad. Tommy James book "Me, the music and the mob" recalls how Morris Levy screwed with his acts.

  • @PaulDePace Would you say that Brian Wilson Of The Beach Boys was inspired by Phil as a Record Producer? Did any of his groups get any Royalties from their recordings since they have been featured in shows like China Beach, Goodfellas, The Wonder Years, The Pickup Artists, not to mention Dirty Dancng.

  • As indicated by Alice Cooper in Rolling Stones Magazine - Ronnie Spector is the perfect '60 voices!

  • What a gem!!

  • @aniagain1 .it's my pleasure.& thank you,,

  • OMG, Ronnies Voice......I Can't Believe what I'm Hearing!!

    Nedra, Estelle. Pure...I want more!!

  • What angelic voices! Never will there be a group like The Ronettes!

  • @DirtyRobot3 ..IT'S MY PLEASURE & THANK YOU,,,,

  • great pitch and that one in a million vibrato the background singers r jus meshed perfect

  • God, this is just sheer heaven!!!! Thanks, raredoowop, a million times over!!! Their voices are so sweet and just plain wonderful to behold without the instruments.

  • @coyotesong ..IT'S MY PLEASURE & THANK YOU,,,,

  • she sounds awful.. she is straining

  • @sierria64 Guy, you haven't heard very many pop vocalists sans instrumentalists I'm assuming. You are a minority of one if you think Ronnie's voice is awful. At 16 she could out sing just about any female from the 20th century not named Aretha Franklin or Patsy Cline.

  • @sierria64 ReallY?

  • A couple of street waifs from Spanish Harlem with a set of pipes that send you to a higher plane.

  • Brilliant and rare! Thank you

  • @MissyMagical ,,it's my pleasure.thank you..

  • Sublime!

The backing vocals on this belong to 2 other beloved legends... Cher and Darlene Love ... ooh baby.

  • Thanks for posting this very rare version, you can really hear their gospel roots.

    Heavenly...

  • @b0zac ..IT'S MY PLEASURE.THANK YOU..

  • @myraredoowop .......Where can we buy the CD set?

  • Excellent, such a rarity. Thank you so much!!!!

  • @rcentinella ,,it's my pleasure.thank you..

  • Much appreciated, thanks. But would that have been Nedra and Estelle on backing vocals? I understood that, although they sang on Be My Baby, it was just Spector's studio regulars on this one.

  • @promerops ,,it's my pleasure.thank you..

  • I'm a big french fan of the ronettes...The voices of Veronica, Estelle and Nedra are, for me, surely, the sound of the paradise...Thank's for this diamond...Merci au grand Phil Spector

  • @fransleeuw ,,it's my pleasure.thank you..

  • @ssaylor423 t's my pleasure.thanks,

  • Wow, this is awesome! Hearing all their voices without the music is great! I like being able to hear The Ronettes voices when they are not competing with Spector's "wall of sound". Thank you so much for posting!

  • @OVtigerstripe ..it's my pleasure.thanks,
