A regional policy pool would probably work best because it would take into consideration the cost-of-living aspects of each region. There is no reason that I can think of as to why a regional policy pool would not be better for policyholders & employers within the existing private insurance system, other than a resistance by the insurance industry. There would be minimal government involvement & cost other than hiring a firm to create the policy pool databases & regulate their application.

This is where a national, state or regional policy pool would be more cost-effective. If Congress could only agree on this one issue and force insures to adopt a national or regional policy pool, we could save billions on health care and everyone would pay rates that are similar and fair.

However, what Congressman Price and the RSC don't understand - they are just as wrong as the Democrats for not finding true solutions to the sky rocketing cost and need for Health Care Reform. Of course the fact that Price received nearly $3million in political contributions from the Health Care Industry opens ones eye that he doesn't want Health Care Reform any more than the Democrates. They just want to enrich each other and the industry over what is needed for America.

"Democrats are spending money we don't got" is exactly backwards. Republicans put us trillions of dollars in debt by giving huge tax breaks to millionaires and invading Iraq. Then they put the economy -- and with it, the tax base -- in the toilet by deregulating everything in sight.

Health-care reform is about regular people not having to give their money to millionaires.

Your point about entitlements being forever is a good one, though it applies equally well to tax breaks. Both stay in place until changed.

But you're wrong to characterize my objections as envy. This is about fairness. All Americans pay for the research and infrastructure that enables a few to capitalize and get rich. For example, rich folks get richer, and regular folks lose their jobs, when a factory is automated. But we all paid billions for the research that enables this.
