OMG. I have looked for this for years. I had no idea of the song's name or the band's identity. All I had was some snatches of lyrics, the bass line and addled memories. It was Aristrurtle89's comment that Google picked up on and here I am. Love it.
@miragefoto There was an ad campaign on TV around the time this came out using the slogan Eat Yourself Fitter so I guess it came from there (unless the song inspired the ad campaign of course). Ironically the ad campaign was banned on the grounds that eating yourself fitter is a contradiction in terms. As for the rest of it ... well - it is what it is.
Peely had this played on Radio 4 as one of his Desert Island Discs.
Can you imagine the diabolical torture this fine upstanding sandpaper-across-genitals tune inflicted on the R4 upthemselves cucumber sandwich brigade nationwide.
@oodled Don't know if its an urban myth but I've heard John Peel fainted the first time he heard this, he was so excited and overawed - could be true. Anyone know?
@johnnyvicious2 Apparently, he stated on air that he had fainted and that his producer had had to resuscitate him. Regardless of whether it happened or not it seems plausible as it is a kick-arse track.

More great lyrics in this one song that most other bands manage to pen in a whole album.
