at my local gun shop they have it at 450 bucks. is it worth the money? my dad wants to get one but he thinks 450 is a little much. so far were looking at either this gun for 450 or the mossberg ar22 for 250 bucks....any suggestions
@bowhunter42995 Dont buy the mossberg. Look at the reviews all over the internet it is total crap. The M&P 15-22 is awesome. I just bought the MOE model for 500 shipped. It is a fun gun to shoot.
I like my 15-22 a lot! Last month I was shooting targets about 20 minutes out of Reno at this common shooting place. This man shows up with a beretta m9 and he began setting up his targets. He tells me how my gun is fit for women and children only. I asked if me shooting him in the leg wouldn't phase him then... He left me alone after that :-)
Just bought one of these last week. Man, we've gone through half a case of ammo already. Its a blast to shoot, very easy to control and pretty accurate.
any experience with or any thoughts on the CMMG Quebec-A 22lr rifle. I had seen your review on the m&p15-22 and had thought "Now there is a great first riffle purchase for me" But then someone told me about the CMMG and that for just a few bucks more, I could have the ability to upgrade to a 5.56 by purchasing just another upper reciever, so that sounded like the better buy, but there isn't a whole lot of information out there on this product, so I just kind of wondered about it. Thanks!
Not saying these guns operate bad but they take all of the fun out of getting a .22lr. why buy one thats already decked out? customizing a ruger 10/22 is a blast. imo the m&p-15-22 goes against most of the reasons for getting a .22lr.
@GunWebsites he is kinda right a ruger 10/22 is pretty fun... to cuztomize and all + if i was to get an AR it'd be in 223/556 or .308 just my 2 cents i don't really get the whole .22 lr AR thing just my opinnion...
PLEASE RESPOND I shot my first gun today i shot a ruger mark2 .22 cal handgun. Is this the same amount of blowback. or is it more blowback because the range i go to has this exact gun. ,thank you
Well to all the people asking why not just buy the Real AR. The best thing about the .22 is you can buy 500 rounds for $20.00 vs $200.00-$400.00 so that is the biggest incentive.
I have one that I've been shooting and having a blast with. My only question is I keep having ammo get caught in my magazine. I'm currently shooting Remington viper ammo and I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on a smoother loading ammunition.
I'm looking to buy one of these and was asking for a rating from 1-10 it looks like a great firearm but is it worth it or shall I look for another AR?
@dukeANhammr I fired one of these before and the magazine slides in pretty easily. The only thing tho to the maker of the video do these jam a lot? Cuz the one I fired jammed multiple times.
@dukeANhammr i just went to look at the s&w and the colt, not sure if its just the weapon they had for display but the s&w had a fairly easy mag release and insertion wasnt too bad.
the colt on the other hand, i had to practically yank out of the lower reciever... >.>
got one of these rifles recently. prolly the newer version with the extractor fixed. awesome plinking rifle and in a pinch can be the only thing standing between you and an attacker. bigger caliber may have more knockdown power but a .22 can kill just as quickly. and with minimal recoil chances are you wont be missing..
@DTHRocket lol no ahaha even is m16's go the only models that could fire full auto was the A1 and A3 which was a variant on the A2 it would be cool though haha but I doubt the barrel could withstand full auto maybe burst
@DTHRocket actually it can be converted in to full auto by buying a speacial spring that goes somewhere im not gonna say cus it is illegal and it is a federal offence converting a semi auto rifle into full auto.
@DTHRocket If someone who actually wanted to have an AR in mil. spec. .223 or .5.45x39 purchased this gun it would cost $550+ to purchase a new upper receiver to allow .223 or 5.45x39 to be shot thow this weapon. Why not buy the .223 or 5.45x39 "real" AR and then decide. Same price in the end.
@tjhooker18 Yeah I've learned a ton in the last few months. Little did I know back then that the cost difference between semi auto and full auto is like the cost difference between suborbital and orbital trajectories.
this gun is descent. I picked one up for 300 dollars, i wish i could at 150 but 300 is still a great price. I like it, it is very reliable and it is a great one to add to the collection.
@McDangerously It's so fun to dump 25 rounds out in under 3 seconds! hahaha, yea it is great. I emptied a full mag accurately in like 3.35 seconds and all shots were on target, gotta love 22's! :D
I bought one of these used for 150 dollars, bought about 450 .22 rounds, went out to an abandoned quarry and set up some targets, had some fun for about 3 hours. first gun ever.
A .22 hitting a person anywhere would drop them in pain or death. Recently on the news here is GA a woman got out of her shower and a man was standing in the bathroom and told her to go to the bedroom and get all her jewelry . She came back with a Walther P22 and laid all 15 shots into the guy. Of course killed him but it goes to show you what a .22 can do.
I was thinking of either getting this or the ruger 10/22 and put an archangel stock on it. Can someone tell me a little info about either of them? Thanks
.22lr are the more sadistec guns, why? becouse the bullets rarely will go through you, a literally surgeons or Dr.s will not be able to remove them, this bullets are tiny and will stick in to your system, i know people that claims to have bullets in their bodies, just becouse Dr didnt found them, they move inside you, if you're lucky you may live your entire live W/O complaints, but is they touched a liver or other organs man you will not last long....dont listen to me, i'm just saying

Third, it's the point of a good self defense bullet to expand and stop in a person, not usually to go through them, leaving a hole for them to bleed to death through before they stop attacking.
@x82ndODSTx I just purchased the Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 MOE and also purchased an Aimpoint PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic) red dot sight. Probably one of the best red dot sights you will find for the price. I think it was about $400.
so im looking to get either this gun or the Colt M4 .22. What would you guys recomend if im looking for durability and something that will be reliable, any opinions?
@TheRickIRL .22 ammo is very cheaply made, you will find great variance in thickness of brass and this causes a lot of issues with certain rifles preferring certain brands of .22
I just got mine last month- I Love it! I've fired 300 rounds with no failure to eject at all (so far). The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) recently re-classified the 25 round mag as a "prohibited" device here in Canada since this mag is interchangeable with the M&P 15-22 pistol version. Here in Canada you can only load a maximum of 10 rounds in a pistol. It sucks big time but it's the law. I purchased some plastic 10 round restrictors from Tacticool22dotcom to fix the mag issue:-)
the good thing wit one of these you can just pop a few hundred rounds off and not really worry, can't wit a AR-15 without burning a hole in your wallet : )
I own this rifle. I enjoy it alot. I have no problems with magazines jamming, or any cycle malfunction. I use CCI ammo. My 8 year old loves this rifle. A good learning weapon as well as fun for small game hunts and just trail hiking. Though it will never hold a candle to my AR, I still like it very much.
dont get me wrong .22s r cool to shoot but only for awhile...I've purchased one for my 12 year old a couple weeks ago...but now it just sits in my safe...he prefers my AK47 and M16..which is killing me in the wallet because ammo for .22 was so cheap...oh yeah im not claming to be an expert, does r your words....im 37 now and been shooting since i was about 9years old...and believe me theres always something new to learn about firearms and im still learning........GOODLUCK MR.(SUPER)JEREMY25
Just got one last night, very nice, very light and very accurate right out of the box. Fired 50 rounds at indoor range, standing with stock sights about a 1 inch pattern. Very economical to shoot compared to my other guns. I'm sure my family will enjoy this gun on the range. Thanks for the video and review.
.22's r a joke......but ammo is really cheap to buy, but it gets pretty boring shooting a .22, it s like shooting a bb gun.....if u can afford it go with a .223 instead....NICE LOOKING RIFLE THOUGH....
@fourpointohh hahahaha.......instead of a .223? hell yeah, any day of the week.....dont be upset brother ur rifle still looks BAD_ASS....probably get one for my son when he turns 13.......
@Titan9mm .....you dont know how to appreciate the value of a real gun. the 22 is one of the most loved guns for people to ride around on strip jobs with where im from. (east. ky). from shooting snakes to rabbits or rats, squirrels, coyotes, you name it. 22's are one of the best calibers ever made. its nothing like shooting a bb gun. you obviously dont know much about guns. your prob a city slicker who hasnt shot many guns but thinks he knos everything about them
@Titan9mm 22 is the most popular cartridge in the world. Ask any REAL expert. mast if not all of them wiull tell you if they had to have ONE GUN ONLY, chances are they'd pick a .22. Don't believe it, go to gunblast.com. See what he says. And I don't know too many guys who have access to guns like he has.
Also, The Best Defense TV show guys all say the same thing. One gun to have? The .22.
I have the Magpul MOE versions of this little rifle and have been extremely impressed with it. This is doubly true considering that when I bought it it only cost me slightly more than a case of 5.56x45mm ammo ($465 out the door)! I've been using Federal's high velocity, copper plated hp ammo in the 550rd bulk box with almost perfect reliability. So far I've put 3 boxes (1650rds) through the rifle with only a handful of malfunction, all of which were ammo related. It's a superb little rifle!!!!
@DonBeppo Cool. What brand of ammo? My little plinking rifle is a Remington 597 and it's pretty fussy I don't think I've ever gone through a 30 round mag with it jamming. . Makes a big difference what ammo I use. I'm definitely going to be picking one of these up.
@SilverstoneZED Win, Federal and a few others. No real cheapo stuff, though. But I should have added, when I first got the gun I had several misfeeds and a few times the extractor tore off the base of the cartridge. I sent it back to S&W and whatever they did to it, I haven't had a problem in well over a 1000 rounds, now. Good luck. It's a great gun, and VERY accurate.
Mil-Spec or not. A head-shot is a head-shot. ;) It's a nice rifle for sport/recreation, ammo is cheap, and it makes a great urban sniping rifle. (just kidding)
I placed a US Optics SN-4 w/ circle dot reticle on it and target aquisition is extremely fast at distances of up to 200 yds.
Sorry if this is has been covered but is the 25 round clip come with them or do you have to purchase it? I ask because I was looking at it on a site and it said it came with a 10 rd clip.
@accusynca Some come with the 25 round mags, depends on which state you buy it in. S&W sells them, though. And by the way, they are called MAGAZINES...MAGAZINES...NOT "clips"!
Can you explain what you mean by "mil-spec"in this context? Do you mean that it's built just like .22s that I'd find in the "Sandbox" being used by real "Operators" to shoot al-quieda squirrels and Taliban wabbits?
@GunWebsites dude; no reason to be so sensitive. I'm just funnin' you about how over-used the term mil-spec is, and how its definition keeps getting broader for the sake of marketing. Chill-out...it's just friendly banter.
Try not to take yourself (especially your online-self) so seriously or you'll give us gun guys a bad name.
LOL .. you dropped a rude comment that was replied to.
I could care less how you perceive the term 'mil-spec' is used in marketing .. but nothing about your comment implied that was your intent
How about you get over yourself and quit being so sensitive to the replys to your comments ?
IMO the only ones giving anyone a 'bad name' here are the judgmental pricks who think they are "elite", and feel the need to scold / mock others who are pursuing their own interests
@GunWebsites Mock: Yes, Scold:No. So, for the mockery, I do apologize. It's clear that neither one of us should consider ourselves "elite." Now, since you brought it up, the term Mil-spec is originally used to denote standardization objectives by the DOD. See MIL-STD-961. This little .22 is more of a look-alike than mil-spec. I thought it would be important for folks to understand that, since the video is a product review. It's not even an AR15. So, is this mil-spec by the definition?
do this vs 22 ak

@daring72 All depends on how busy it is and how close you are to the other guys. Mine are fine.

TehNesher35 10 months ago
so im looking to get either this gun or the Colt M4 .22. What would you guys recomend if im looking for durability and something that will be reliable, any opinions?
carefulsquirrel 10 months ago
shit, there´s no recoil on that rifle!!!
rod3067 10 months ago
@rod3067 Thats because it uses a 22. shell.
you clearly know nothing about firearms
InjuryDrums34 9 months ago
@InjuryDrums34 i already commented that i´m new to firearms.
rod3067 9 months ago
You dont have the one with the blue spring, you will be sending that back to smith before long.
hamsoda85 10 months ago
@TheRickIRL .22 ammo is very cheaply made, you will find great variance in thickness of brass and this causes a lot of issues with certain rifles preferring certain brands of .22
UponGiantsShoulders 10 months ago
just got one today =D
c3po435 10 months ago
Do you still have to press the bolt release on the side to make the bolt go forward?
GatesOBabylon 10 months ago
Great video. I have a question...
...why is this gun so inexpensive? they are cheaper then most hand guns imo
Rohkus 10 months ago
@Rohkus It's cheap because it is a 22! I own one of these little beasts they are a blast :)
FordsAreSuperior 10 months ago
i am thinking of getting one for $469.99 is that a good price
mrexample99 11 months ago
@mrexample99 ya thats a pretty good averave price
nitrouscobalt 10 months ago
@mrexample99 Yes that is a good price. I paid the same price, And I doubt you will find one cheaper unless it is used.
FordsAreSuperior 10 months ago
I just got mine last month- I Love it! I've fired 300 rounds with no failure to eject at all (so far). The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) recently re-classified the 25 round mag as a "prohibited" device here in Canada since this mag is interchangeable with the M&P 15-22 pistol version. Here in Canada you can only load a maximum of 10 rounds in a pistol. It sucks big time but it's the law. I purchased some plastic 10 round restrictors from Tacticool22dotcom to fix the mag issue:-)
nexqunyx 11 months ago
the good thing wit one of these you can just pop a few hundred rounds off and not really worry, can't wit a AR-15 without burning a hole in your wallet : )
FJTNAT 11 months ago
I bet she's fun to shoot. Might have to get one at some point

Shott17 1 year ago
dont get me wrong .22s r cool to shoot but only for awhile...I've purchased one for my 12 year old a couple weeks ago...but now it just sits in my safe...he prefers my AK47 and M16..which is killing me in the wallet because ammo for .22 was so cheap...oh yeah im not claming to be an expert, does r your words....im 37 now and been shooting since i was about 9years old...and believe me theres always something new to learn about firearms and im still learning........GOODLUCK MR.(SUPER)JEREMY25

Just got one last night, very nice, very light and very accurate right out of the box. Fired 50 rounds at indoor range, standing with stock sights about a 1 inch pattern. Very economical to shoot compared to my other guns. I'm sure my family will enjoy this gun on the range. Thanks for the video and review.
surfrocketman 1 year ago
.22's r a joke......but ammo is really cheap to buy, but it gets pretty boring shooting a .22, it s like shooting a bb gun.....if u can afford it go with a .223 instead....NICE LOOKING RIFLE THOUGH....
Titan9mm 1 year ago
@Titan9mm would you stand infront of a 22 mr.9mm?
fourpointohh 1 year ago
@fourpointohh hahahaha.......instead of a .223? hell yeah, any day of the week.....dont be upset brother ur rifle still looks BAD_ASS....probably get one for my son when he turns 13.......

@Titan9mm 22LR is good for varmint hunting. Why you need an AR lookalike for gophers is beyond me but It'd be damn fun. :P
foist101 1 year ago
@foist101 well the 25 round clip helps.
SuperJeremy25 1 year ago
@Titan9mm .....you dont know how to appreciate the value of a real gun. the 22 is one of the most loved guns for people to ride around on strip jobs with where im from. (east. ky). from shooting snakes to rabbits or rats, squirrels, coyotes, you name it. 22's are one of the best calibers ever made. its nothing like shooting a bb gun. you obviously dont know much about guns. your prob a city slicker who hasnt shot many guns but thinks he knos everything about them

@SuperJeremy25 see how you like your ak when you wont be able to find bullets for it in 5 years..

I read a lot of stupid comments on videos.. and I mean A LOT.. and this has got to be one of the most stupid..
GunWebsites 1 year ago
@Titan9mm 22 is the most popular cartridge in the world. Ask any REAL expert. mast if not all of them wiull tell you if they had to have ONE GUN ONLY, chances are they'd pick a .22. Don't believe it, go to gunblast.com. See what he says. And I don't know too many guys who have access to guns like he has.
Also, The Best Defense TV show guys all say the same thing. One gun to have? The .22.

if you have an fid that only allows up to 10 rounds mags is this gun still legal to buy since it has higher mags

@MAITZ95 they sell em at cabelas
fourpointohh 1 year ago
I have the Magpul MOE versions of this little rifle and have been extremely impressed with it. This is doubly true considering that when I bought it it only cost me slightly more than a case of 5.56x45mm ammo ($465 out the door)! I've been using Federal's high velocity, copper plated hp ammo in the 550rd bulk box with almost perfect reliability. So far I've put 3 boxes (1650rds) through the rifle with only a handful of malfunction, all of which were ammo related. It's a superb little rifle!!!!
futuresonex 1 year ago
i have that its cool, but sometimes the clips jam.
icekillertony 1 year ago
@icekillertony
learn more and that will go away
GunWebsites 1 year ago
@icekillertony Yeah, I don't think there is a .22 out there that has a mag that holds more than 10 rounds that doesn't jam.
SilverstoneZED 1 year ago
@SilverstoneZED I have several 25 round mags. I can run 25 straight through at rapid fire with no problem.
DonBeppo 1 year ago
@DonBeppo Cool. What brand of ammo? My little plinking rifle is a Remington 597 and it's pretty fussy I don't think I've ever gone through a 30 round mag with it jamming. . Makes a big difference what ammo I use. I'm definitely going to be picking one of these up.
SilverstoneZED 1 year ago
@SilverstoneZED Win, Federal and a few others. No real cheapo stuff, though. But I should have added, when I first got the gun I had several misfeeds and a few times the extractor tore off the base of the cartridge. I sent it back to S&W and whatever they did to it, I haven't had a problem in well over a 1000 rounds, now. Good luck. It's a great gun, and VERY accurate.

"Your mil-spec!", no "Your mil-spec", "Your mom's mil-spec", "my dad could beat up your dad", "MIL-SPEC!"
tobythomasjohnston 1 year ago
Mil-Spec or not. A head-shot is a head-shot. ;) It's a nice rifle for sport/recreation, ammo is cheap, and it makes a great urban sniping rifle. (just kidding)
I placed a US Optics SN-4 w/ circle dot reticle on it and target aquisition is extremely fast at distances of up to 200 yds.
Apolyion 1 year ago
Sorry if this is has been covered but is the 25 round clip come with them or do you have to purchase it? I ask because I was looking at it on a site and it said it came with a 10 rd clip.
accusynca 1 year ago
@accusynca Some come with the 25 round mags, depends on which state you buy it in. S&W sells them, though. And by the way, they are called MAGAZINES...MAGAZINES...NOT "clips"!
DonBeppo 1 year ago
Those two shots after he talked bout the milspec stock scared the shit outta me

Jesus internet wars are so damn stupid
kingmanted 1 year ago
Can you explain what you mean by "mil-spec"in this context? Do you mean that it's built just like .22s that I'd find in the "Sandbox" being used by real "Operators" to shoot al-quieda squirrels and Taliban wabbits?
rollmasterross 1 year ago
@rollmasterross
non-'tools' understand that is a description of the part, meaning a uniform size
You would almost seem witty, if you didn't look stupid more
GunWebsites 1 year ago
@GunWebsites dude; no reason to be so sensitive. I'm just funnin' you about how over-used the term mil-spec is, and how its definition keeps getting broader for the sake of marketing. Chill-out...it's just friendly banter.
Try not to take yourself (especially your online-self) so seriously or you'll give us gun guys a bad name.
rollmasterross 1 year ago
@rollmasterross
LOL .. you dropped a rude comment that was replied to.
GunWebsites 1 year ago
@GunWebsites Mock: Yes, Scold:No. So, for the mockery, I do apologize. It's clear that neither one of us should consider ourselves "elite." Now, since you brought it up, the term Mil-spec is originally used to denote standardization objectives by the DOD. See MIL-STD-961. This little .22 is more of a look-alike than mil-spec. I thought it would be important for folks to understand that, since the video is a product review. It's not even an AR15. So, is this mil-spec by the definition?
rollmasterross 1 year ago
@rollmasterross
The rail.. did you even watch the video?
No one ever claimed this as a "mil-spec" rifle.. obviously, since there is no such thing
the rail is to standard.. ie Mil-Spec
