  • Curious that most of the scenes picked to "remember" Scotty, show him drinking and/or drunk. Typical Scottish sterotyping. When they get around to making a tribute to Kirk, no doubt most scenes will show him bare chested or fighting or trying to score with some babe.

The original StarTrek could have been so much better, if done in the 80's with decent special effects and props. Looking back almost commical with the super cheesy set they had to use.

  • Classic!!!

  • Beautifully poignant tribute. Well done.

  • I always like that the Engineer of the ship was "Scottish".

"You didna tell im the truth, did you laddie boy?" my favorite Scottie line.

So much was summed up in that line....

  • Those who, and are many, were like Scotty made in America, die hards and stood and held the line in what the believed in , either here or someplace else. I truly think Doohan knew this and that is the great adventure. peace

  • where's the clip with older scotty on the ship by himself from?

  • @genericusername337 from star trek the next generation, episode called "relics" :) was a good one to.

  • @UmbrellaWatch oo ok, thanks!

  • This is so beautiful! What a perfect tribute to a fantastic actor and beloved character-

  • Kirk NEVER did find out "who threw the first punch"!! lol

  • I've put a video response which was the one I created back in 2007. Opinions welcome. We seem to like the same music choices! But then could anything else be used.

    Good job with this one

  • This was an EXCELLENT video! I'm going to assume that the 10 ppl who clicked "dislike" had a slip of their hands and were really aaiming for the thumbs up icon.

  • Addio Scotty sarai sempre nei nostri cuori

    falcoluminoso

  • James Montgomery "Jimmy" Doohan (March 3, 1920 – July 20, 2005)

Happy Birthday James, world war two veteran, writer, and actor. He inspired thousands around the world to take up engineering, and inspired millions to dream of the stars.

  • happy birthday Jimmy

  • Never, never insult my ship!!! Retired Navy. =Stefan=

  • FOR those of you who arr wondering: the song is "Wander My Friends", composed by Bear McCreary.

  • @enkratic Thank you

  • @enkratic from Battlestar Galactica, I believe? Great tune.

  • Could you tell me what the name of this song is and where I can find the lyrics?

  • ich vermisse ihn !

  • Scotty shall forever be plump so he can throw his weight at anyone who insults the Enterprise! One great way to push my buttons is to insult the United Federation of Planets by saying how they are the bad guys!

  • I liked the episode that Scotty wore the red shirt in.

  • whats the name this song? O.o

  • scotty makes my proud to be scottish. and drunk.

  • Thank you very much.

  • ?Does anyone know the name of the song that goes with this video clip

  • @ShaiSchiller1

It's called Wander My Friends by Bear McCrery. It's from Battlestar Galatica (the second version). If you haven't BG's sound track, it's some of the best music ever composed for a TV series.

    Scotty would have liked it.

  • can anyone tell me the name of the song that goes with this video?

  • Scotty you are the best.

  • That is awesome!

  • never notice how well he hids the missing finger on his right hand

  • @Kyoshiko You can't even catch a glimpse of it.

I all ways try to when I'm watching TOS. XD

  • Isn't the music like the Adama theme from the new BSG?

  • good song

  • A awesome tribute to one of star fleets greatest engineers....Scotty!

  • The best engineer the Enterprise ever had, nobody can hold up to him, no LaForge, no Belanna Torres, nobody!

  • Search 'Star Trek and idea' to see Scotty's best idea ever.

  • Scotty was such a babe back in the day.

  • Please, please... Doesn't anyone know what episode the clip at 1:57 came from?

  • @666DILLINGER to my research no... Scotty does not die in the movies/series themselves...

  • Comment removed

  • @luigi19987 which episode was that?

  • @blackfoxwho it was in the second series episode the changeling

  • What episodes are the clips at 1:06 and 1:57 from?

  • I love the video, may I ask what's the title to the music?

  • Scotty was the best. - Godspeed.

  • that was great. made me sad

  • does he die or something?

  • @666DILLINGER Yes, James Doohan died... did you miss the memo? All those Original Star Trek cast members are getting up there in their years... We need to enjoy them while they're here, because when they're gone, *tear* they're gone... :)

  • @McKenzielja oh right im not a star trek fan at all but yeah. did the character die?

  • Respect Scotty / James Doohan. Best engineer ever. We miss you.

  • Best Tribute ive seen. I love the music also it really fits Scotty.

  • What's the theme?

  • Thank you for making this! Scotty has always been one of my all-time favorite Trek characters: friendly, professional, dedicated, able to pull of the impossible (in spite of protests to the contrary). Loved it!

  • Here's a' hoping he knows just how much we adore him, wherever we go after death...

  • Thanks for the memories Scotty!

  • Warp speed, Mr.Scott

  • Wasn't he actually born in Canada?

  • Did we know....

Mr Doohan- Veteran of D-Day Normandy.

Badly wounded crossing a minefield by German machine gunner....blew his middle finger off and 4 bullets through his legs.

Guy was a toughguy in real life.

    Salute.

  • @actonbath you forgot to mention he's Canadian.

  • Amazing. Scotty for Ever.

    Very Good Video 5*****

    Dennis

    West - Germany

  • wow..this is an amazing video. tears were definately present watching this. thank you for posting.

rest in peace, jimmy. we miss you.

  • Now that's a real man.

  • Almost made me cry - beautiful video

  • I hope you have more whims like this! I met Doohan once, this is a fitting tribute.

  • you don't mind if I ask the name of the song, do you. Forgive my ignorance if its some national anthem or something.

  • It's "Wander My Friends" by Bear McCreary, from Battlestar Galactica.

  • Absolutely brilliant. So well constructed and perfected expertly. As a Scotsman I can't think of better tribute! Well done and my thanks!

  • great tribute

  • That was awesome, but there's 2 things I would have done to make it just that 1 % better.

First is to show Scotty in the yellow uniform from "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and secondly, leave in the "Here's to you, ladds" part of the toast from Relics.

  • Yeah I remeber from him 1980's he was one my favs star trek char.. Great video...

  • You rock Scotty...

  • Who can't be moved by the ending when we see such a great man inevitably aged and left us eventually. We are so lucky to have such a brave soul once walking on earth!

  • Brings tears to my eyes every time.

  • same here!

  • very well done

I liked the toast scene from Relics at the end.

  • Maybe he was nerdy, maybe he was not so good at playing the Scotsman, or at acting altogether. Still, he set a standard in sci-fi and TV shows; and also managed to draw more admiration, and sympathy, than most of us will ever do. I liked him and his character very much.

  • lol, nerds

  • LOL, notice you never see his right hand. He had a finger blown off in WW2.

  • Beautifully done, very moving... love when he gives some of his whiskey to some huge Klingon! Ha ha ha! Scots ain't afraid of nothing ;-)

  • ha ha ha hello computer..brilliant...

  • super....love the bit 1.35 in wheb scotty gives the guy in a beard a scottish hello....ha ha ha

  • yeah.... reminds me of the first time my plane landed in Scotland ... some woman did almost the same w me cos i dare stand in the aisle in front of her, most surprising welcome i ever got anywhere in the world..... maybe the writing on the wall !

  • Btw, Im4out, the guy was lucky he only got a Scottish 'hello' & not a Glasgow kiss, wouldn't you say ?

  • I can not watch this vid without crying! I know I've commented before but this is just so Beautiful! The ending scene was done just perfect!

  • *Gasps* Not to get off of the Scotty subject but who was Scotty carrying at 2:08?

  • it`s the son of his sister, i think...

  • You did really a great video, emotional ;_;

  • Scotty the Miracle Maker

Played by the late great James Doohan (RIP)

  • Great Scotty Best Engineer ever

  • haha, this video brillent

Irish Bagpipes, Irish Actor, Irish Gaelic.

    all pretending to be scottish

  • *cries*

    such a beautifull video:)

I love how Scotty looked drunk in most of them

  • Oh Scotty, The Only Red Shirt That Mattered!

  • @AshiteruNeji So what? O'hura can go to hell? (no i don't know how to spell it, she's irish for all i know.)

  • @AshiteruNeji Uhura didnt matter?

  • @sjmore Uhura mattered... Fortunately this video isn't about Uhura... When Nichelle Nichols dies we can say she was the only red shirt that mattered... and when someone makes a video about the two of them (or the entire key cast) we can talk about how they were both the only red shirts that mattered...

  • I teared up and laughed at the same time.

  • What a devious grin he had on 2:26

  • That's one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen!

  • This video is truly beautiful.

  • where is 1:12 from

  • "I, Mudd."

  • were is 1:14 from

  • "By Any Other Name." Scotty was trying to get an alien drunk.

  • Oh, and what is the clip at 1:58 from?

  • What episode is the lip of him waving from? At 0:37?

  • Top notch.

The music was just perfect, especially when you see him waving at 0:37 and when the vocals come in at 0:51 and the bagpipes.

    Very well done!

  • Aw, darn. That was great. I miss him.

  • What is this song called?

  • Wander my Friends from the episode ( Hand of God ) Season 1 soundtrack of Battlestar Galactica.

  • What Episode is 2:09 and who is he Caring?

Poor Scotty *hugs* Dont Worry Scotty I love you

  • Wrath of Khan, his nephew just joined the ship and was killed at his post in engineering. "He never left his post" was his line,.And i miss scotty also, truly an inspiration to me.

  • I watched the Movie to cuz of this vid and when i saw scotty Caring him i gasped and started crying Poor Scotty I wish i could hug and kiss him to make him feal better TTnTT

  • vERY cOOL !!!...tHANKS...bROUGHT A TEAR TO ME EYE ! wE MISS YOU jIMMY !!

  • rest in peace Scotty

  • what did you guys think of Simon Pegg filling james' shoes in the new movie

  • he did.....he really really did, i was sceptical at first but then blown away:DD

  • Most of the new cast (Chekov didn't turn me on) did a great job including Simon P. But most impressive to me: Zoe Soldana's Uhura. Biggest pleasant surprise: John Cho's Sulu (long way from those "Harold & Kumar" triflings).

  • I LOVE YOU SCOTTY!!!

    He's so adorable and squishy!

  • ever since i saw scotty on star trek i wanted to be an engineer.

  • What kind of engineer?

  • the kind that works on the NCC-1701

    USS Enterprise!!!

  • Haha :)

  • And now I'm An industrial engineer

  • From one engineer to another;

    Bloody Marvolous!

    Good Bye James.

  • r.i.p scotty

  • What's the name of this tune? It sounds like Scots Gaelic.

  • i was wondering the same thing.

  • Cracking tune all the same

  • Awesome tribute - but I'm totally under a rock, when did James Doohan die?

  • it is an awesome tribute, for an awesome character...an answer to your question...July 20, 2005 (aged 85).

  • Oh - that's sad. Farewell James - you will be missed.

  • Comment removed

  • you know what you should do is when the new movie comes out you should use the clips from that movie of scotty along with these clips...

  • A beautiful tribute.

  • Beautifully done, people like you should be hired by hollywood, great images especially the last shot. Thank You for this vid, very nice.

  • this is so sad, lol. scotty's my fav character. i'm SO glad they chose simon pegg to play him in the new film.

  • That shot of Data and Scotty is just classic. To me anyway.

  • yeah it is a classic.

  • that was a very nice video

  • What a fitting tribute to the character Scotty and to a terrifice actor James Doohan. He lives forever in the Star Trek universe. Thanks.

  • He had some of Trek's best lines and moments:

"Laddy, don't you think you should rephrase that?"

    "Admiral! There be whales here!"

"He stayed at his post when all the other trainees ran."

    "It's green."

    May he rest in peace.

  • You've just got to love it when ever he says "laddy."

  • Indeed. That was the signal to get out of Montgomery Scott's face. Pub crawling your way through Aberdeen makes a man handy with his fists.

"Tribbles" was a great show piece for Doohan.

Kirk: You hit the Klingons because they insulted the Enterprise, not because they ... (insulted me)?

Scotty: Well, sir, this was a matter of pride!

And he'll always defend his lady's honor.

Good man, fine actor, great character.

  • Our favourite engineer is in heaven now, with the original enterprise and his "bairns". I miss him, he made me laugh, especially in the films, with the jail break and computer mouse and when he banged his head on the pipe.

RIP Scotty and James Doohan, im cryin here! xxxxxxxx

  • Live forever, Scotty. <3

  • what is the name of this song? it's beautiful, so is the video.

  • It made me very sad in the TNG episode where he was discovered in the transporter buffers of a downed ship. He was one of the only crew members of the TOS left alive at that point since he was kept in the buffers for several decades--practically outliving everyone else he knew...

  • omg you brought back my memory of seeing this episode... one of the best............. my god

  • Best engineer a captain could ask for.

  • Ugh, this is such a tear jerker! *grabs tissue* Loved it! Bravo! ♥

  • ahaha i love scotty!! i'm not scottish, but my dad is, and i wish i were! lol this is awesome!
