Great form great exercise, this is even a great exercise with minimal weight. The pull/push movement make "white-twitch" fiber muscle fire in a way you can get from single movement exercises. I have been Clean&pressing for 2 years now and it have transformed my body( along with yoga, for flexibility) I wish I knew about this exercise in my early 20's. Keep up the good work!
Hi Ghost, yeah, I should have done it with a pause - i watched the vid the other day in slow-mo and there is a tiny leg push, although it is really small.
I've gone up to 115kg on powerclean and press before.
I posted that vid about 12 months ago, about a month after that I tore a big ligament in my left shoulder - game over! :P
I was training for the British Bench press champs at the time, I was 6 months out pushing 162.5 - 165kg unequipped at 22 years old at the time. I was looking to get up to 170 - 175kg for the comp.Considering that the British U23 record in my weight catagory is something stupid like 155kg, I would have smashed it! >:(
Very nice lifting! The tiny leg drive can make a huge difference - with tiny leg drive I can put up about 50% more weight than strictly. It'd be nice to see you work on your form and give Oly lifting a go... we need more ridiculously-strong lifters!
i just hit the exact weight 2 weeks ago. that form looked good. people who scream rounded back have obviously never tried a heavy weight on this movment.
I can only deadlift 375lbs but I can speed deadlift with 225 and maintain a perfectly arched lumbar for several reps... I don't see why it would be impossible for this guy, who's obviously way stronger than me and most people, to be able to do it.
225 is so light anyway that it'd be hard to get injured from a slightly rounded lower back.
Your back should stay tight no matter what the weight is. If it rounds, you're at a greater risk for injury AND you'll start missing lifts altogether since the bar will end up out of position.
@mduxburygrip
That is a Push Press, NOT a Military Press.

Great work man. Like the smart guys say, please look after your back. I didn't, and have 2 herniated lumbar discs as a result.
I wish you great achievements in your lifting to come...tough guy :)

Htae to burst your bubble, but that was a Push Press, not a strict Military Press.
You clearly engaged your legs on the drive.

Umm... on and off for a few years - I'm getting back into it after ruining my shoulder in Jan (again!!)
I've decided heavy weights are evil - they just make you break!!!!!! he he! That's a word of warning!

oh ffs stop bitching about his clean form, at least he doesn't take it from a rack, gees.
why don't all you form nazi's post up video replies of you lot clean & strict pressing your bodyweight overhead let alone 100kg.
for the record i'd love to see the poster do the press with a pause after the clean so their isn't even a hint of leg drive - just so it is 'pure' ;)
..7650nokia ??

tht does not look like 100 kg it looks alot lighter?
chazmf 4 years ago
I'll take that as a compliment I think!
It's definately 100kg - I've got 2 20kg discs each side - if you look really carefully you can see them!

HOw does the weight on a clean determine the position your back should be in?

I was only messing around but, yes, need to keep it tight, even on the 'light' weights :D

very impressive man, what was your best clean and jerk and snatch when you was oly lifting
jamwithtupac 5 years ago
Military press 225? Wow.
Your clean form was very bad though. T'wasn't as bad as these fools who "deadlift" the bar for their bicep curls with the most possibly rounded back.
MaxThonder 5 years ago
That's impressive ;) .. looked quite easy ! Have you tried maxing all out ?

Your back looked rounded while lifting it off the ground but still good.
