  • Aerosmith did a great cover on this one!

  • This song would be later be performed by Eric Clapton and the other members of the Who in "Tommy" starring Roger Daltrey, Oliver Reed and Anne Margaret.

  • I love a song that just makes ya get up and dance at 3 in the morning, not caring who wakes up!! :-D

  • this is the best version.

  • D harp key of A

  • Best version ever - no cover could ever stand up to Sonny Boy

  • @extremesniper007 The Who are I feel a tiny bit better but that's just my opinion and to be honest they're both incredibly good

  • Real music

  • aerosmith's cover is also good

  • If someone is not getting their mechanical royalties, they signed a bad contract. No matter how famous (or good) they are.

  • Sonny Boy Williamson: God to all aspiring harmonica players. Amen!

  • Mutleybird! Thank you so much man. I owe you. I already downloaded The Larks "Eyesight" from your site. That record sends chills down my back. I think I ought to thank old Ike & Bess Berman too for starting Apollo records and for recording such talent. Not to minimize Sonny Boy - also a great rendition.

  • who has a copy of the Larks Eyesight to the Blind, 1951. That's an incredible recording. It's also on Apollo.

  • @jerseyguy242 - I have it on Viddler. after the .com, is : explore/mutleybird/videos/35/

  • What key is the blues harp in this?

  • Somebody please post The Larks Version Apollo 427 from 1951....

  • i like the who's version better

  • wow, don't even sound like him singin.used to his voice when it was all raspy and that. not that this ain't good. Hear that solo? mercy!

  • As a harp player. Little Walter and Sonny Boy are the true originals that I tip my hat too. This is one of my favorite Sonny boy tunes that just gives me them good goosebumps every time I hear it. I hope I do it justice on stage some day.

  • SWEETNESS....:) Thankyou! Blessing's, Peace,LOVE,Light! :)

  • And what does this song have to do with a "Deaf, dumb and blind boy" to qualify for Tommy?

  • @fessormojo It's in the lyric- 'Every time she start to lovin the deaf and dumb begin to talk' then 'Every time she start to lovin she bring eyesight to the blind'

  • @fessormojo In the context of Tommy, it's sung by a pimp who claims his prostitute can cure Tommy.

  • "Man in the next room a-dying...stopped dying!" If that isn't the ultimate testament to a woman's

power, I don't know what is. My favorite lyric of all time!

  • But the Chess version is better--be great if someone would post it already.

  • @TheIsraDave The Chess version is under copyright by Universal Music Group, and they have been known to knock whole channels offline for people using music in videos that they own. I would post it myself it wasn't for that.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • @randomandrare I see. Too bad.

  • @randomandrare I am sure Universal Music Group is making sure that the Sonny Boy Williamson is getting all the royalties too - yeah right ;-)

Thanks for posting... I haven't heard this version before.

  • @saratogasavoy You're very welcome. And I couldn't agree more with your comment!

  • @saratogasavoy I think Sonny Boy Williamson has passed on..........

  • @tommyau2006 In any case the Chess version has also been up on YT now for about a year.

  • @randomandrare hey this is my email:Maychild8@gmail.com. can you send it to me?

  • @TheIsraDave I have the full Chess set on cd but don't know how to post from cd to youtube. Can you help me?

  • @tommyau2006 Sorry, don't know how to do that, but I'm kind of a technical muff. Must be someone who knows.

  • @tommyau2006 you have to create the vid first with windows movie maker or whatever vid pro you use then upload your movie from your files

  • @TheIsraDave I prefer this version but dig em both. Chess had better sound.

  • this is a greaaaatttt track!

  • To think Levon Helm grew up on a diet of Sonny. Lucky man.
