This song would be later be performed by Eric Clapton and the other members of the Who in "Tommy" starring Roger Daltrey, Oliver Reed and Anne Margaret.
Mutleybird! Thank you so much man. I owe you. I already downloaded The Larks "Eyesight" from your site. That record sends chills down my back. I think I ought to thank old Ike & Bess Berman too for starting Apollo records and for recording such talent. Not to minimize Sonny Boy - also a great rendition.
As a harp player. Little Walter and Sonny Boy are the true originals that I tip my hat too. This is one of my favorite Sonny boy tunes that just gives me them good goosebumps every time I hear it. I hope I do it justice on stage some day.
@fessormojo It's in the lyric- 'Every time she start to lovin the deaf and dumb begin to talk' then 'Every time she start to lovin she bring eyesight to the blind'
@TheIsraDave The Chess version is under copyright by Universal Music Group, and they have been known to knock whole channels offline for people using music in videos that they own. I would post it myself it wasn't for that.
Aerosmith did a great cover on this one!

@extremesniper007 The Who are I feel a tiny bit better but that's just my opinion and to be honest they're both incredibly good

If someone is not getting their mechanical royalties, they signed a bad contract. No matter how famous (or good) they are.

And what does this song have to do with a "Deaf, dumb and blind boy" to qualify for Tommy?

@fessormojo In the context of Tommy, it's sung by a pimp who claims his prostitute can cure Tommy.

"Man in the next room a-dying...stopped dying!" If that isn't the ultimate testament to a woman's
power, I don't know what is. My favorite lyric of all time!

But the Chess version is better--be great if someone would post it already.

@randomandrare I am sure Universal Music Group is making sure that the Sonny Boy Williamson is getting all the royalties too - yeah right ;-)
Thanks for posting... I haven't heard this version before.

tommyau2006 1 year ago
@tommyau2006 Sorry, don't know how to do that, but I'm kind of a technical muff. Must be someone who knows.
TheIsraDave 1 year ago
@tommyau2006 you have to create the vid first with windows movie maker or whatever vid pro you use then upload your movie from your files
