The only reason why I don't agree with the title of this video is because of the enactment of the wars measures act that he imposed upon the some 500 Quebeckers who were arrested and detained without bail. Otherwise he was truly a great PM.

Regarding Clark, I don't think he was a bad leader in regard to his intentions. He failed on personality and because he made the move to raise gasoline taxes significantly at a very difficult time. That move in itself set the whole population against him...and Trudeau flew back into power. Clark was NEVER tested as a PM...so I question anyone who says he was great.... He only lasted a few months... He had great intentions..but lacked the political knowhow to survive...

No one ever had the personal popularity that Trudeau ever had. It pissed off stoic guys like Tommy Douglas and such.. Harper and Stockwell Day try to be cool..but everyone knows it's a farce. Chretien actually had a decent amount of popularity because he was real and had a decent sense of humour... No REAL vision though since Trudeau and Diefenbaker.... Harper is killing us internationally...destroying a reputation built up over years and years of indepenent Canadian vision..

I can't think of a PM...except maybe Diefenbaker...who had the guts that Trudeau had. Even Chretien did his little bits of gutsy rhetoric...staying out of Iraq and calling Bush an idiot. That took gut...Harper and Mulroney were and still are the biggest asskissers around when it comes to the US. Harper can't decide on ANYTHING until the US makes a decision and he cowtows to it....Turner didn't have any confidence..... Mulroney destroyed any chance that Kim Campbell ever had.....

@BayviewFinch Oil ,natural resources explain how socialist Canada prospers while its workforce has a sadly low level of productivity relative to Americans.Trudeau was born into a rich family,did not have to work ,had no idea that markets work best work free of govt partnership. He actually took the time to do something that was long overdue. It wasn't until the 1980's that Canada was truly a sovereign nation from the U.K. Good for Trudeau being from a rich family. Good for him staying rich through his life. Good for him being educated. Good for him being physically fit. He was an exemplary politician.

He ruined Canada. It has taken Canada nearly 40 years to recover from his mismanagement. Ironically it was Chretien and Paul Martin who finally killed off Trudeau's economic policies and put Canada on the right path

@gaguy1967 Seriously, I am not a Liberal supporter at all. But, you are right about Martin and Chretien, they were good politicians. Martin was in a tough situation, the Canadian dollar was 62 cents and he managed to get the country in the black. Both him and Chretien probably knew Trudeau was a fool but they also knew many Canadians loved him. So, they used Trudeau's appeal to push through their more responsible and conservative fiscal policies.
