not a big Jude Law fan myself, but this has got to be my favourite scene from one of my all time favourite films...I can't say enough about this film, or how great the actors were, so I will leave everybody else to it : )
After watching the entire film, one MUST come back to this scene. Armed with the knowledge of Bosie's tumultuous relationship with his father, this scene comes alive. His eyes, expressions, and yes even his weakened voice take on a deeper meaning. He's singing to his new savior subliminally; baring his otherwise guarded soul for one short vulnerable moment to say: "I needed you, you love me, you came, you're here". I would've fallen for Bosie, too.
@goldbert789 Se llama "ah, leave me not to pine" y está en la obertura de la ópera "Los piratas de Penzance" (creo que la òpera también lleva el nombre de "el esclavo del deber")
please does someone has this song in audio or in mp3? I've been like a fool loking for it, and I need it please. If someone has it, please tell me how to get it or ask me my email adress to can send it to me . thanks
HEY,JUDE!!! He's singing "He loves ME..." b/c it was ALWAYS about HIM! lol
Jude is beautiful and magnificent as Oscar's much-beloved spoiled -brat tart boyfriend! Such a gutsy actor. I agree-his best-but least-known part. This went to my favs:)
Interesting, when you read of Jude Law's accomplishments you never see note of his portrayal of Lord Alfred in "Wilde", he did a great acting job in this film.
He really is killing, though not the best singer in the world... :-) I think he sings "He loves me" instead of "thee" because he adresses Oscar. Maybe the other people weren't supposed to notice.
This movie is why I'm a Jude Law addict (and wouldn't mind to be his next nanny...;-).
I've finally changed it. I've seen the movie (once again...)subtitled into Spanish and it says "él me ama" besides I paid attention to Jude's lips (oh! his lips!) and he's evidently pronouncing an "m". On the other hand Oscar loves him and he is there! LOL!!!
It's both "He Loves Me" (In Mabel's part, sung here by Jude Law), and then "He Loves Thee" in Frederic's response to Mabel (Second Verse, which wasn't used in the film)
Well, it was certainly brave of him, but he really can't sing.

Amazing performances by both Jude Law and Stephen Fry as Wilde. Fry even looks like Wilde.

Stephen Fry was dreadful as Wilde. Awful actor.

@Vockuah Who would YOU have cast in the role, instead?

@Vockuah if you have the time to criticize others, why don't you do it then? if you can't do it, then shut up.

I can't get his singing out of my head now, damn!
I think Jude even did a better job in Wilde than in The Talented Mr. Ripley.
I admire how natural and comfortable he handled the homoerotic and nudity scenes. He 's very professional and open-minded. I love him so much.

My, those lips.

The fact that Judes voice is not the greatest makes his character of Boise abit more sweeter then the real fella was.

I'm pretty sure Bosie is singing "He loves me - he is here" not "He loves thee". Please adjust this on your notes. :)
radic888 3 years ago
I was almost sure of that, too. But the words of the song says "thee" so I don't know what to do! LOL :)
darkly63 3 years ago
In the actual show it's "He loves thee". Which makes more sense, because it's what nature is singing to Mabel (who sings this verse)
