I have taken a few still-images with and without IR-blocking filter plus red filter. It images without the IR-blocking filter (but with red filter) does appear to have better contrast!
Try removing the IR-block filter, to get more light from the IR where contrast between moon and sky is even better. Colors might get strange, though. Image might also loose some crispness due to chromatic aberration of the scope. But worth a try.
