It is true that when you adjust fro a higher power to a lower one, the Dump light will come on, and until it goes off, you will have too much power for the new power setting. However, one of the features of the Alien Bees, the White Lightnings, and the Einstein, is that they will bleed off that excess energy internally within a matter of seconds or perhaps a minute (depends on the amount of adjustment), without the need to test fire the strobe.
i am thinking about getting one of these and your review helped alot! i was wondering if it came with the lightstand or did you buy one seperate? and if you bought the lightstand separate, which one would you recommend?
Unfortunately, it does not come included with a light stand, but the same come does make a light stand.
It's not too bad. I move my lights around alot and travel with them and they've been through hell, but they're still standing so I can't complain too much.
OK, I want to know how you managed to cut down the harsh mid-day ambient light. The sync speed on that camera is, like, 1/200 or 1/250. Not typically fast enough to bring harsh light down so far....
Very nice video bro, I am looking forward on getting some bees pretty soon and you help me make up my mind! Great Video and editing too! thanks a lot!
Maybe this is the best review I've seen.
1. Does it allow to sinc over 1/250?
2. Do they sell a 3000WS power batery? Because I'm shooting 8fps STROBED photos.
I'd like to point out that the Alienbee isn't more powerfull than the sun. You are just the scene a bit (Maybe with the shutterspeed).
I'd like to hear a response! In internet I cant find this much info you provided with this video!

@in2food its the mix of the extremely powerful flash, and the fact his aperture is at f/22. He even said he's at 1/125 shutter speed
