Apparently Ali G is upset about the comic-to-film adaption.

If you're going to criticise the film for not being true to the comic, don't bother with the visuals. The film adaption heartlessly condensed the storyline and either diluted or changed Moore's underlying message. Now if you think Moore's anti-US, anti-Christian, anti-capitalist, neo-anarchist message was unfair and stupid (as I do), then that isn't a problem, but many of Moore's worshippers are naturally going to be upset.

i know what your saying about the costumes and i agree, however despite the fact that Night-owls costume is really super flashy, it doesn't take away from what watchmen is as a comic, and watchmen as a movie is a different thing entirely. when watchmen was released in the 80s it was a critique of the superhero genre AT THAT TIME. so take watchmen as a film NOW, and look at the costumes and every one is riled up because they look like todays superheroes. think!!!! that is the point!

I have read the novel many times, and I too, am not exactly happy with Ozymandias, but I do understand the choices that were made when making his costume. His costume has does not have an important role int he story, it has an important role to his character. But I think they really emphasized the whole egyptian warrior theme,the molded abs and nipples were the way armor was back then, and his cape is very, very bright in the new trailer. In fact,he looks nothign like this photo in new shots.

But I think the problem was that Lucas tried to hard to convert everything to the 1950's era by including Aliens and nuclear bombs. But the action sequences were classic Indy and Harrison Ford was as good as ever.

Love Silk Spectre, her alone will attract new fans to the Watchmen. Rorschach is chillingly close to the novel, while Nite Owl has been given a much needed redesign showing his comparisim to Batman which was the intention. Comedian looks ace but not sure about Ozzy, bit too similar to Nite Owl with the body armour and Goode is too young and light weight to portray Veidt.

The reason Snyder is doing the costumes in this way is to comment on the disconstruction of super hero movies when the comic commented on the disconstruction of super hero comics. Hence why Ozy looks like he is from Batman & Robin,why Nite Owl has high tech armour to comment on Batman's cloth and spandex cloths in the comic to high tech armour in the movies.Silk Spectre costume comments on superhero woman into movies how they are made to look sexier with tighter clothes.

The Comedian wore SEVERAL COSTUMES in the comic and in the scenes I've seen from this movie! This is his Battle Costume, which is different from the one he wore in the "Crimebusters Meeting" scene which you commentators are ATTEMPTING to talk about! Why focus on this one as though this is the only costume he'll wear in the movie? Also, Nite Owl's costume is SUPPOSE to resemble Batman's, as it did in the comic, and while Nite Owl ATTEMPTED an exoskeleton ala Iron Man, we didn't see him wear it!

Yea, from what I understand the makers of the movie are dead set on making an adaptation that Moore actually likes (not gonna happen cuz he won't watch it) so thats good news. I'm just afraid that Moore's stuff is so literary that no film could could contain it. V came close in some ways. Frank Millers stuff works well on screen because its cinematically inspired anyway. I'm not sure how Watchmen will work outside the confines of a comic page.

As far as i know, Alan Moore wrote Watchmen as an indictment on the superhero genre in the 80s. Maybe Snyder's using the overstylized costumes as his own case against the superhero movie genre...it might work or it may be another LXG fiasco, i don't know.

My opinion though was that grim and gritty superhero comics entirely missed the point on what Alan Moore (and in a sense,Frank Miller.) were trying to convey as storytellers.
