hi nice tank i doesnt matter how many fish you have in a tank as long as u have good tempered fish and take care of their water correctly also great tank very nice also i have my betta in a 10 gal with 2 cory cats and 6 neon tetras so 9 fish total! but all in all very nice tank.
This gets me SO angry! First of all, to have a female betta sorority you need to have a 10 Gallon. Otherwise they are stressed out. Then you need to have 5 bettas (maybe 4) for them to get along and not be stressed. :P And the big one looks like a male.
@maisydog13 You know what gets me angry??? When people (like you) tell other people how to run your fish tanks. See, not ALL fish are the same. Maybe your fish get stressed out in a small tank, however my fish are happily living fine together in a nice 5 gallon tank. All fish are different. All fish think differently about each other. Maybe your fish are super spoiled and need to have such big tanks and large quantities of other fish in 1 tank, however my fish do not. U run your own tank

@maisydog13 PS- If you feel so bad for my fish, why don't you go to Thailand and help out all the other betta fish who live in a half gallon puddle in Thailand, where they are perfectly happy in their NATURAL habitat. So you can either go to Thailand and pay $500 for a plane ticket to save the bettas who live in a puddle or you can just run your own tank your way and let me run my tank my way.

@Kitsune Dragonscale refers to betta fish that have thick scales that have no opacity, generally a little bit metallic. You know how many of the white betta fish generally are sort of opaque and you can see beneath their scales to the veins and other bits? You can't do that with dragonscales. Female betta can be dragonscales just as easily as male. Although the one in this video looks like a normal opaque Cambodian pattern. White, opaque body, and red on the fins.
and yh you are correct with saying that your tank has alot of places to hide but to correct you...3 fish need aproxx 35 gallons :) so yh....but 5 gallons is amazing for 1

@RettroTopp Well I may or may not be wrong but Petsmart said that it was a female. If it was a male though I probably would have had baby bettas by now.

Live plants aren't really my thing because they make lots of algae and things like that, i have PLENTY of food for them including freeze dried bloodworms, Omega betta food and top fin betta food and tetra betta flakes and now i only have 2 bettas so the size tank i have is appropriate according to petco and persmart veterenarians.
theres always one female that would always try to be the bully or the dominate one... as long as theres alot of hiding spots for them.. it would be okay
congrats on getting you some bettas. good job with the tank. im a betta breeder, always like to see youngsters takng interest in bettas, aquarist hobbys and fish or fishing in general. i was just a guy with a betta long ago too now its flourishing career. before that loved to fish as kid fished 7 days week and did it as living, ended up a captain and biologist at sea etc, so never know where where it may take you 30 yrs later, but loving fish always a good thing. take care!

"Dragonscale" bettas are male, for the record. The only ones in PetSmart that aren't males are the ones labled "Female Betta."
