There's a big difference between the audio-animatronic figures at Disneyland that go through pre-programmed movements and robots you could actually interact with like in this movie. Besides, nowadays, a "Westworld" theme park would all be in virtual reality.
@newguy33X Also to answer your question: Oppenhheimer played character parts on TV regularly, including once or twice in the role of Dr.Rudy Wells, the inventer of Bionics on 'The Six Million-Dollar Man' tv show. He also did many cartoon voices in mostly action oriented 70s cartoons.
Yul Brynner was bad ass in this movie. And creepy too. Whenever he was on foot and not wielding a gun he always walked with his hands on his belt. No matter what.
B production movie can be masterpiece which this movie shows.Yul Briner has sparkling eyes in this movie and way he walk is robot himself.10 years before Schwartzeneger and Terminator.....

3:55 Absolutely priceless scene. I love how in those few seconds the main character realizes 1) his friend is really dead, 2) this is no game anymore, and 3) he's next.
@hockeyspuds No I can't and a remake would be out of order! I'm now sick and tired of all the unethical untalented Hollywood writers bring up classics just for the sakes of CGI Dolby3D and Dolby cinema digital sound! Enough is enough!
I can watch the original in stereo played back in Dolby stereo pro-logic and its just as exciting.
I remember seeing this movie when it first came out. It is a great piece of work. It also features and old western backlot that was destoryed a few years ago at Warner Brothers. Laramie Street, this was the location of those classic WB westerns that were shot there to include Lawman, Maverick, Sugarfoot, and Colt .45. I've got to see if I can get this on DVD !
they was a story in the 2000ad comic,
where robot run amuck in a theme park

The director looks like Peter Fonda in Futureworld (Westworld Sequel) 1976 movie.

And this is before he went on to work on a horrifying movie about another ill conceived theme park"Jurasic Park".

Is the narrator the voice actor for the "He Man" cartoon series?
newguy33X 8 months ago
@newguy33X If the narrator was Alan Oppenheimer (who played the Chief Supervisor in 'Westworld'), then yes it was.
