palm pilots were waaaay ahead of their time. they had this shit back in 1997. HP really could have beat Apple to the smart phone renaissance. Should'a could'a would'a I guess.
Actually Pocket PCs are more prone to freezing when you really want to do something.
And the Newton was not a Palm, Palm is a company, the Newton is a PDA by Apple, which apart from handwriting recognition it was way ahead of its time with internet browsing, PCMCIA slots, 480x240 screen, ect.
Infrared travels that far? LMAO!! They must be joking. Still cool. I see that more as BT. On today's Palms, your device would crash in a similar situation. LOL. I own a TX, I should know.
It really depends on what you're doing. My TX crashes for me occasionally, but usually only because I'm using Opera Mini or LJP. I don't ever remember having it crash on anything else (those are both memory-intensive).
True. This week I've been using handmap and it crashed some times with the heaviest maps.
BTW... I check my gmail account with my TX. I received a mail from youtube 3 hours ago in my palm. When I arrived home, I opened the link and here I am replying ;)
Oh, and I tested the IR with another palm. It can reach long distances if there light conditions are good (ie: dim lights) and if you aim them correctly.
Oh, yeah, I check my gmail through Opera Mini on almost a daily basis, as well as check my swbell email and make a visit to Facebook. Palm is very underrated as far as webbrowsing goes. It's not perfect, there are a few pages I can't access, but it's pretty good. From what I understand, the next OS is going to be fantastic, too.
Thanks for sharing this, which in my mind was the best Palm commercial that I've seen and remembered. I've been talking about it for years and now, thanks for sharing it! It's my favorite.

Yeah, what a piece of shit, palms where great but I recently opted for a pocket pc phone instead 'cause newer palms were very buggy.

Crash? I own a T|X and it hasn't chrashed in a month, not even a soft reset. I've installed a lot of programs and didn't have any problem.
