  • what software do you should i use

  • Comment removed

  • hey this is an awesome vid learned a lot thanks for the upload

  • so you can't mix multiple songs with this? is it not compatible with a laptop for software programs?

  • @bittersweetness321 it is if you have timecoded programs such as serato or traktor

  • tempo shift means that you can adjust the tempo (or bpm) of the song without effecting the pitch. sometimes when you try to match a slow hip hop track (75 bpm) with a pop track (110-115 bpm), the hip hop track will match, but sound really chipmunk like. tempo match allows you to match songs that you want to use without loosing (to an extent) the pitch of the track.

  • what does this cdj cost ?

  • not every CDJ has vinyl mode! i think the CDJ 400 onwards does though

  • I can only get like 80 songs to an mp3 disc. How you get that many?

  • @32JSE he said he has lots of samples, or either he uses very low KPS tracks, but not sure why he would want that....

  • @EananC Yeah, i noticed that i can get around 40 songs when the songs are in 320kbs.

  • 1:25 REMIX!!!

  • get to the fucken point please we dont need the history just how to use it bro

  • Comment removed

  • can it read dvd's with music on em? or just cds?

  • just CD only

  • @destremie just cd's

  • You're backwards on the function of the master tempo. When this is set you can adjust the bpm without changing the pitch (or octave) of the track. This is especially useful if you're playing a track with vocals if you need to speed up the track without chipmunking the vocals.

  • Great Video. Thanks for posting. What kind of mixer do you recomend?

  • personally i reccomend the xone :92 - or at least a djm800

  • @Nygel36 they are really valid mixers, but they are too prefessional for a beginner, obviously. buy a behringer djx 750 and have fun.

  • its cost about 3000$ for a set , a mixer , and 2 mk2

  • with tempo he means pitch i guess..

  • please tell me

how much $ is the pioneer cdj800mk2 $

and also what would a good mixer cost

  • cdj 800s are about 6 to 700 each. Pioneer makes the best mixer for djing if you're not big into scratching. So any of theirs are good.

  • If I'm not mistaken it's between 600 and 800 dollars

  • bpm is tempo...im confused

  • bpm is beats per minute. Pitch is the % tuning you need to adjust bpm. So obviously, if you are playing one track that's 120bpm and mixing in a track that's 135bpm, you are adjusting the pitch to the negative side for this.

  • i got mine brand new for £850 off ebay, for a pair

  • Thanx for bumping the music during your explanation............... We all completely understand what your talking about.

  • Great Vid!

    Max

  • lol you can fit fuck all 320s on a cd mate, who wants to hear lesser quality sounds?

  • i love my cdj 800s there reliable and good for scratching i can use these for 8 hours straight (i actualy have) i just purchased another pair of these 3 months back

very good decks would recommend these to anyone. wait about another 2 months pioneer coming out with something better tho

  • in the cdj800 I miss the 3 effects(wah etc.) from the cdj200, they were pretty important

  • you should had the music from the CDJ to do this..

  • the master tempo locks the KEY of the tune not the pitch. it locks the KEY and lets you change the pitch while the key stays the same.

  • the tempo changes but the beats per minute don't? haaa. u mean the pitch stays constant but the tempo/BPM alters

  • thanks for the good, overall review

however BPM and tempo are one and the same

  • so it keeps the tempo but changes the BPM heh? LOL ...........

  • what is an average to good mixer that will work well with these specific turntables (that isnt too expensive)? thanks

  • buy a behringer djx700,its basically a pioneer djm 600 but 1/4 of the price :)

  • dont!! its shit

  • i have a djm 800 myself but he says he doesnt have buch money, youo can pick up a behringer for 100 dollers,it will do

  • and 1/10th the sound quality and durability

  • basically a pioneer?

yeah. and a ford is basically a ferrari

  • good basic turorial

  • selber du arschloch"!!!

  • man ignore all those mean comments, there is people out there who dont know how to cue or have to start from scratch so this is helpfull thanks

  • Master tempo is a way of making sure the pitch of a song doesn't change when you increase the tempo/beats per minute. And only the CDJ 400 and up have a vinyl mode, the CDJ 200 and the older discontinued models don't

  • not true.

it sets the vocals and all the sounds so they dont sound like chipmunks when you speed up or the other way around. so you can basically play hip hop at a 140bpm with normal melody and sound

  • lol noob

  • well sorry for not acually using the most redundant feature to ever be incorporated to a cd deck

  • see that's the bullshit. you all want to be DJs but don't understand how important it is to be able to adjust the TEMPO of the song without altering the KEY of the song. just because you're only playing other people's music doesn't mean you don't have to know about music. Djs ARE musicians.

  • too bad you don't know how to spell though, eh?

  • is there a reverse button to play a sond backwards?

  • yeah ive got em

  • Thanks for the tutorial, very useful. Just a note about the subject of increasing tempo without increasing pitch. It has a feature called pitch lock, which means the track can be sped up, but the actual pitch will not change. It's useful for speeding up slow tracks, ie hip hop funk, rnb etc without getting the helium vocal effect, hope this helps.

  • master tempo

  • does a cdj 800 can be connected to a PC like cdj 400????

  • bpm and tempo are the same thing

  • cool thanks bro

  • Thanks Man Good Video

  • Thanks for the video!

  • there's a pitch bend button, look to the right of the jog wheel, in the corner.

  • is there not a pitch bend button (+ -) option, in stead of using the platter?

  • thanks man,i have a question though,i just bought these 2 cd-players but now i wonder if it is compatible with my old mixer..i think it is ofcourse but i wanna know for sure..greetz Remy

  • As long as your mixer has RCA inputs it should be fine. If you only have 1/4 inch.. get some 1/4 to RCA converters, and there is no reason it wouldnt work :) What kind of mixer do you have?

  • i just looked in the booklet and saw that it has rca connectors so its fine:)dont laugh but its a JBSystems MX4 lol..thnx for the useful tutorial, its a weird feeling to say goodbye to vinyl in a way but as far as i can see it now those Pioneer cd-players are just incredible!i'll have to wait a week though, only one in stock:s but thnx again mate!

  • Hi, just thought I'd clarrify- the master tempo changes the speed (i.e. bpm) of a track without changing its pitch. It only really sounds good with very small adjustments. Big adjustments can make for some interesting effects but it will not sound like the original track.

  • Excellent tutorial!! Keep up the good work!

  • helped me alot thanks

  • $1500 for two cdj 800 mk2

im savin for it ! THNNX DUDE !

  • thinking about getting a pair of these to start out

can somebody give me a list of effects this thing has?

  • wow dude..

  • hahahah lion and tiger = Liger!!!! ;)

  • 400's are the creation for anyone starting out, hence the vast effects and cheaper price.

800's are to be bought with a sick djm.

I get a little confused when people compare just the 400's and the 800's. After all, there is no comparison as whilst they are both cdj players, the comfort such a diverse style respectively, there is no comparison. It would like comparing a lion and tiger.

800s for people practicing to get into clubs.

400s for people practicing to get their own style.

  • VERY well put wophina, thanks for the comment.

  • dang siva00 you sound like a total badass!!!

  • Have you heard his mixes you donkey, where the hell are yours

  • ahhhhhh im undecided about the 400's or the 800's. I have the money and i actually found the 800's for cheaper, the 400's are going for $629. each.. would the DJM400 mixer go well with these?? I am just starting out and these are my first cdj's..

    House ,Electro, Minimal.

  • I'd definitely go for the 800. The 400's are great as well, but are quite smaller than the 800. it doesnt geive you the same feel as it does with the 800, but thats personal I think CD-J 400 got those effects with it but with a decent mixer (like the djm 400) it's not really neccesary

  • if u can afford them, i wouldnt hesitate in going for the 800's, i wish i had the luxury of learning on a set of Pioneers =)!!

but then again, if u discover ur crap at it or u dont like it its a bit of a waste of money, thats why people start with cheap products.

I'd just go for a set of these bad boys....

  • I'm picking up a pair of 800's sometime next month, i'm tired of ordering vinyl online and waiting 15 day.

Thanks for the video, now i know what im getting.

  • Hey what would you reccomend, cdj 400 or 800? I know the cdj 400 have a lot more effects but are the 800s a better deck?

  • I personally favor the 800's. But you cant really answer that question, its like asking, what do you recommend, apples or oranges? Both the 800 and the 400 are great, just depends on what you feel comfortable with, or need. I personally dont need the EFX on the 400's, so i stick to the 8's

  • with serato out there, why would you ever use one of these? what are the advantages?

  • Serato is just a source. You still need either a turntable or CD player to play whatever tracks are loaded into Serato. Serato with CDJ's is just about one of the most epic setups!

  • just to clarify the master tempo for you and other viewers....

when 'master tempo' is engaged, moving the pitch fader will increase/decrease the BPM as it would normally, however the 'pitch' of the actual song doesnt change, i.e, master tempo will prevent the 'chipmunk effect' on vocals if the BPM has to be increased a lot to facilitate beatmatching.....

    hope that helps!!!

  • hey...you have same mixer as i had...i think it's too shitty for cd players... =D

  • aye, the mixer was a piece of junk, i tossed it out about a week after this video. Just needed something to hold me over

  • great video, the jogwheel sounds kind of plasticky, when you spin it especially sounds plasticky, is that so?

  • thanx for the video. I ordered some mk2's. I wana sell my cdj200's

  • How much did just the Pioneer MK2 cost ya? I really wanna get into mixing. Just watching you do your thing gets me really into it. Keep it up! ^_^

  • sup bebop00 - they are about 700 new, but sometimes you can find some for about 625-650 (new)

  • cool cool thanks Trevor

  • buddy please advise which one is better except the usb connectivity advantage out of pioneer cdj 400s and cdj 800s??? which one scratches better?? thanks waiting for your advise...

  • If you are going to make a purchase based around the scratch feature, you will have better luck with the 800. The firmware is the same for both, however just the size and feel of the 800 is more natural - the 400 is more compact, but im sure some might prefer that over the larger, all prefrence i guess. If money is not an issue, and you have to pick between the two SOLELY for scratching, go with the 800

  • both are good players.

  • tempo is measured in bpm. pitch is the tone or key. so it is impossible to change the tempo without changing bpms. the pitch change will not speed up the actual song speed but it can give u the "alvin chipmunk" or the "slow motion" sound :D

  • the cdj-100's and 200's dont have a vinyl mode. not trying to call you out, just calrifying for n00bs,

    nice tutorial btw

  • good job ikrux

  • Your tempo lock keeps the tone of the music and changes your bpm (very useful)

  • hey man whats the best mixer u can get for the cdj 800 mk2 what mixer do u have???

  • The Best mixer as for me is the Pioneer Djm 800..Very good features.

  • its possible u need a spurmcell

  • yeah he needs to read up on what he was trying to say.

    he meant.

that when the master temp button is engaged, speeding up or lowering the tempo will not change the pitch of the sound.

so with that button on and you speed up the tempo, it wont sound like chipmunks

    get it?

  • i don't get it why ppl actually go for pioneers. these cdj 800 and the denon dns3500 are exactly the same price yet the denon 35's are way out of the cdj 800's league. i say add a few more bucks and get the denon dns5000 which can be compared to the pioneer cdj 1000's but at a better price!!! trust me pioneers are overated!

  • djsarge - i havent tried the denons yet, but ill definatly check em out! thanks for the comment.

  • i have denons there fuckin gay no club uses the rookie cdj denons

  • urafag - I tried them this week and was dissapointed in the platter feel and reaction with the sound. I agree with you, but not exactly the reasons you stated :)

  • yeh my mate has used dennons in a club . . . and he sed they suck balls compared to his cdj 1000s . . .

  • But if you see, i think pioneer 1000 are better, all famous Dj's use them, you can watch any video on youtube we can't escape them, they're universal players.

  • no dude.. i own both the denon 1000s and the 800mk2 trust me, mk2 is much much better!

  • Not really a good reason to get the MK2's, if you're going to mix live (I assume you wish to) you should ALWAYS use wav's and at least 320kbps for quality of sound.

  • good idea, but you should have let us hear the music, so everybody understands how this works.

  • Master tempo allows you to change the BPM without changing the pitch/key of the song. This is important if you do harmonic mixing, and need the songs to stay in their original key. Now you know :)

  • When You're rockin those decks it don't matta how loud they are!!! I actually like the fact that they're like that because you feel it when You push cue or play!!

  • I just got a pair, Thanks a bunch player.

  • is there any cdjs

that dont make so much noise with the buttons?

i dont fink it matters wen ur playin ryt?

  • the Pioneer CDK1000 MK3's dont make noise when buttons are pressed, there alot newer and better than the CDJ800

  • Its a good players but idd that noice is like the voice of my girlfriend...

  • Thank you soooo much for posting this. I've been watching the DJ Tutor too, and I was hoping he'd give a good overview on CD players. Anyway, can you do some more?

  • LOL. DUDE! i use the CDJ Turntables for clubs.....Read before you speak. but not bad for a tutoral :P

  • best place to get these is thomann

  • the problem with adding mp3 audio as part of your collection is that not all clubs gonna have the newest pioneer that support mp3...then your screwed

  • theAgent06 - if you have ur own cdj then mp3 wnt b a problem, the club may only provide speakers, but they are still going to play mp3 music

  • With regards to the 'Master Tempo' button: What it does is retains the KEY of the tune. What is a key? Look up harmonic mixing in youtube search. Most DJs think only about beatmatching. Fact is, without mixing in key, you'll never have what it takes to be a good DJ. So all you beginners, get your beats in, then move to mixing in key. Good luck.

  • The wide pitch is really good for doing cool crescendos and crazy tech house stuff (James Zabiela), also if you slow a song exactly 50% you have half time where 4 beat is now 8 beats long so you could slow a song down and mix in a new song at completely different tempos but still beat match them. Gabriel and Dresden did that in their 2003 essential mix for radio one.

  • Ahh m8 gr8 video im tinkin of gettin 1 now!!!

  • Very good video. Well made. 'Master tempo' lets you change the speed of your track without affecting its key (pitch). When 'Master tempo' is turned off, you're changing the speed of your track affecting its pitch also. Play a track and listen to the difference for yourself.

  • good beginners tutorial! maybe next time you could play some music to let people hear how the unit works?

all in all, easy to understand. thanks!
