@chemicgod he meant defensively and this was 2008. Inge was one of the best defensive players in baseball in '07 and was even more incredible in '06: his UZR was 19 and his TZL was 36(!). Wright hadn't started his defensive decline yet, but Inge would've been an upgrade over anyone. He was a decent all-around player until last year too, so I remember liking the idea at the time and I obviously love it now if the Mets could've gotten him for the guys mentioned (even the venerable Aaron Heilman).

Maybe I was assuming too much, but I'm pretty sure he meant Inge was a better defensive 3B, and there's no doubt that was true because Inge was one of the best defenders at any position in '06 and '07. Why does Mike love Inge so much? He's not even a good hitter. He's a lifetime .236 hitter with a .306 on base percentage who averaged about 16 HR a year.

Mike's flat out wrong, Inge never had "98 RBI's" in his career. The most he ever had up until that point was 83 rbi in '06. He had only one other year over 80 rbi, 84 rbi in '09.
