Lugansky is one of my favorite live performers. He knows how to have a little fun with his technique for the sake of visual entertainment (like all the "bouncing" at 4:23-4:46) without looking completely ridiculous (*cough* Lang Lang *cough*). Not to mention that he is, as the commentator said, "outrageously talented."
@drnairb Actually, bouncing with hands is not for the sake of visual entertainment, but it is for the sake of proper technique. Jumps can be done much easier and accurate if you 'bounce' them. Even though the moved distance is greater, the the hands move faster.
this is not like me to say this... but I feel this is too fast... which i probably will change my mind soon, because I am learning this piece, and I will probably end up changing my mind and wanting to play it this fast, but the initial reaction to hearing this was thinking it was too fast.
how he played final in this temp? oh my god! if I heared this concerto in live I'd die of feelings!!! c'mon lugansky!!! you great!!!

Around 1:02, it sounds like somebody in the orchestra dropped something. Clumsy, mighta thrown the boy off his game.
