I do not agree that someone can be saved by seeing God through nature. God is not fully told out through nature. Only Jesus could full tell out God (I.e. Love, Justice ). Nature only shows a few of God attributes. Secondly if God visited one person why doesn't he visit everyone? If thats the case whats the point in missions? The problem here is you borderline universalism.
Each man and woman is entitled to some form of salvation according to their faith in Jesus Christ and the gospel. In Alma 40:11 God assures us of this: 40:11 Now concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection. Behold, it hath been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body; yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil, are taken home to that God who gave them life.
If Jesus was a "Prophet" then you would agree that he was speaking the TRUTH when he said that NO MAN (or woman for that matter) comes to the Father but by ME. We don't know if she confessed Christ before dying but let me say this... Many "good" people won't go through the gates just because they are good. Remember that our own works and righteousness is as filthy rags to God. We all need Jesus.
Jesus was a prophet just like abraham, moses, david and Mohammed may peace and blessings be upon them on. he was no god. yes he is the son of mary which got pregnant with the will of god but make no mistake oh christians that he was no god. there is only one god.
thats your interpretation my friend of a book that has a zillion version and a book that was rewritten numerous times by greedy church clerics for financial gain. God amighty doesnt need a son or partners . he created you and me and this whole world why would he need a son or change the world to flesh.
if he created the universe which u can't even comprehend the magnitude and greatness of it all u think about is flesh because you are a closed minded individual. think outside your man altered bible for a minute and think for minute if that makes sense from a rational point of poiunt leave you biased religion out of it for a minute. i thought so.
Wow, Shawn answered this beautifully. We do not earn Heaven by our good works, that is true. It is only by the grace of God. We can't know how people might know some measure of God's grace, even in imperfect ways. Besides, a Jew is serving God according to His word. It was Jesus who told them to obey his word. He simply had not revealed Himself as Jesus yet.
Shawn is right...I forgot to mention that we don't know what she did or didn't do from the information provided....so I was commenting based on the idea that she died without Jesus...she might very well have been saved before she died.
I think Jesus met her (on the other side) and she accepted him and was saved. Your good works that you sow do not save you but they make it so you can reap good things.
1Pe 3:19 through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison.
I have no reason to believe all men that die do not have the same treatment as those in prison. Who's life did not permit them to know God or whose circumstances have not brought them to Jesus yet.
Could you please provide even a scripture to support your ideas? 1 Peter 3:19 won't do it. Jesus is the only way to heaven. After your dead it is too late.
Peter 3/19 says that Jesus preached to the spirits that had already died. He preached to people that did not know God. There would be no reason to preach to them if there was no passable way for them to accept and believe and be saved. I see no reason any person would not have the same chance to accept Jesus if there life and circumstances did not permit them to know God.
This is what happens when we get our theology out of the comic strips instead of the Bible. Pathetic. Jesus preaches to those who die without the opportunity to hear the gospel in life. Why not just light candles like the Catholics and get them out of purgatory? ROFLOL
This passage in John has absolutely nothing to do with the heretical idea that people who die will get a second chance to hear about and accept Jesus as their Savior after they die. That is bizarre and goes beyond rationality or reason.
For a Christen to be absent form the body is to be present withthe Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 There for it makes sence that Jesus (in John 5/25) is talking about those peopel that are in prision. The vers makes it clear that only those that hear will live.
Dude, I know its a parable. You were supposed to read "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead" and realize even if Jesus descended to hell to preach, they still wouldn't be persuaded.
If you recall the Rich man did realize his error. He even wanted someone to warn his family. If the Rich man is capable of realizing his error after death than I believe others would be able to also however this parable has nothing to do with Hades. I will explain.
Hebrews 9/27 Is a verse that is explaining how no one is mortal. Everyone must die. Everyone will be judged. Sometime after we die the judgment will come. I believe you are attempting to make the point that our eternal destination is immediately appointed for us after we die. However i will explain why that is incorrect.
When Jesus died he went to a place where the wicked were. 1 Peter 3/20 "who disobeyed" Jesus also preached the Gospel to them. Psa 145:20-God will destroy the wicked. If there eternal judgment day comes right after they die then Jesus could not be talking to them because they would be destroyed. They would not exist. However they do exist proving there day of eternal judgment has not come yet.
The rich man represents-The Church feasting on the bread of life while (Lazarus-Gentiles) are starving for the crumbs of truth that fall form the Churches table. It represents some in the church (back then) and (some today) that would walk by a beggar on his way to church and not help him.
WOW! Talk about eisegesis. The Pharisees thought that wealth was a sign of God's blessing (like the health & wealth preachers of today) but Jesus shows them that it is the poor who are blessed (or who ever has faith and is known by God). The rich man has ZERO repentance. Some one just two weeks ago posted a John Macarthur sermon on this, you should hear it. You're WAY off in left field in your understanding of this story.
WOW I got this explanation of this parable from Pasture Doug Batchelor. You can watch it on youtube if you like. It is called- AmazingFacts-The Rich Man and Lazarus. My point is that someone can not use the Lazarus parable as if it was an actual event in order to prove a point. Whatch the video and then get back to me. God Bless.
They don't practice it *anymore* because another "prophet" came later and said it was wrong. Contradicting prophets. So does God contradict Himself or does He just change His mind, calling what was once acceptable and good "sin" later on?
some LDS men practice it spiritually - they marry and seal to a new wife when the first one dies.... so polygamy is not behind the LDS church, never has been.

There is a false premise here....that anyone is good.
Nobody is good enough to warrant Heaven...period.
The only way to Heaven is the same way for everyone...by hearing, and responding to the word of God.
I'm sure that this person was (by worldly standards) a great lady...much better than most...but is that the standard that God judges by?
NO...
die without Jesus...get what you deserve
Die with Jesus, get mercy.

They don't practice it?
I thought that they could be sealed to multiple women for eternity.

Actually....the words are...
"...they don't practice it on this earth...."
It's still an Eternal Principle....practiced in the Celestial Kingdom....

some LDS men practice it spiritually - they marry and seal to a new wife when the first one dies.... so polygamy is not behind the LDS church, never has been.
Woodruff who made up the 1890 manifesto even got married to one more wife after the manifesto... and back then, they looked forward to it becoming legal again...
