-"Now I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction." -1 Corinthians 1:10.
We need to be focused on the things of Above, not the things of below.
Mark Schultz is a good singer, but to me this sounds like nither a positive or negaive war song.... my problem is that Christian singers are not leading the way in anti-war songs, anti-globalism songs, and the such that is destroying our world, our country, and the Christian religion... Non-Christain singers such as Linkin Park and such sing these songs... my thing is.. is Christain music become to politically correct??
@bigbadmamajama11 Really? The point of this song is not to take some political stance on war. The point of the song is an emotional story that Mark wrote a song about after reading letters to his great grandmother from her sons in WWII. Why would any christian artist want to make their songs have an agenda? This is one of Mark's best songs and a fantastic song. non Christian music, of course has agendas or some type of point to make (most of the time). Christian music isnt about politics.
@palmcroft6 LOL to hate war is not a Political stance.... Christians are peace makers that is what Christ came for right....Peace for us.. Peace from our sins to be free... not to police people and kill and our Political leaders who "are not really Christian" to hide behind our bible and use it for war propaganda... Christian does have a agenda to reach people to worship GOD to say what we Chrisitan feel and about our faith...Have you not read Pslams??
@bigbadmamajama11 Sorry I left that last part with not the best wording. But to be clear, when I said Christian music doesnt have a point to make, I was referr or war or political party or anything like that. Of course the mission is to proclaim faith. Also, since when does being a Christian mean you have to hate war? I'm a Christian and I am certainly not anti war. Does that mean I'm using the Bible as a platform as war propaganda? Does that mean I'm policing people around and promote killing?
@palmcroft6 Yes that is correct we are made Free from this terrible world through HOSANNA death on the cross... that is why we must stand up for what is right... drop the trying to join the norm or the political correctness because we have nothing and will never truely have nothing only what has been given to us so graciously through Christ... Christians must start standing up for what is right and agiainst the socalled elite rulersofthisworld(Satan and Watchers free-babylon cronies)
@bigbadmamajama11 Yes, we need to stand up for what is right. But that still doesn't answer my question. If you say part standing up for what is right is discouraging war, am I a bad person because I'm not anti war? Where in the Bible does it say that if you follow Christ you have to take a stand oppose all wars or your just "joining the norm" and being "politically correct"? Besides the point of this song is not meant to be about the idea of war, its a story of a mother and her son.
I'm an A1C in the usaf as security forces, and we listened to this song every sunday in church during basic training, and it killed me the first time! By the end of basic, we were all looking forward to listening to this song, so if any guy tells you that he didn't cry the first time he heard this song, he's lying! lol
I was in the US Army in 1960 and mdy mother wrote me all the time while I was gone. When I heard Mark sin gthis song at a concert in Freeport, Illinois, it brought tears to my eyes, remembering my own mother and the way she felt when she saw me step off the plane. Mark keep it up. Also, folks, when yo see a serviceman, say thanks and then thank Jesus,
the story behind this song is that Mark´s grandmother´s son went to war and her greatest fear was that the captain would step down from the car and give her a letter that says you son died in the war, but he didnt so thats good right?
I once heard of a man that gave his life so that all others could LIVE his name was Jesus, We owe a debt to him for this.
I once heard of a man that gave his life so that others could live and find this man name Jesus, I don’t know all their names, but I do know that we all owe them a debt to.
Don’t let these sacrifices go in vein, love your brother, hug a soldier, find Jesus he is waiting for you!
This song touches me because I was in the Air Force and my mom used to say what a father that I would make some day...make it home my friends...make it home...whether here or with the Lord...make it home...
Hello, I'm in the Navy. And I just found this song. You know its funny cause my mom writes me letters all the time and tells me to prey every night and that she is proud of me and all that I do, even though I fight forever one else... I guess what I'm trying to say is that this song really touched home with me. So Thank you Mark! :)
great song, a war does need to get addressed though, Christian vs Christian, some that would dare to call SCC, Newsboys, and other trash. Beware of 250 brent lane in pensacola, florida
Hello, I was looking at the comment you made on "Letters from War". You had something like Christian vs. Christian, with references to Newsboy and SCC as trash. Was wonder if you could clarify for me. I do not see what you mean by "trash". Thanks
ok I didn't notice the computer must have froze while typing and didn't see it didn't get everything typed that I was trying to type. I don't think SCC or the newsboys are trash however there is a place and some christians who sadly do think that way and one dares to call itself christian and a college that is in pensacola, florida. I don't like christians saying or calling contemporary christian music trash just because they don't like it and may only like hymns. the place in pensacola
bans klove and power 88,seriously it is messed up and they ban headphones so you can't listen to it in your room if you wanted to and other people in your room don't like it not to mention the cds wouldn't pass sadly.I in no way meant to give the impression that contemporary christian music is trash, been listening since the 80s,know of michael card and steve green, twila paris and then scc and mws, newsboys,dc talk, petra, others came along in time and now there is well a ton lol,no complaints
