  • Wow, i am just in awe of all the original boys !!, thanks for posting this treasure of San Soo history, it's a real gem and a pleasure to watch, thankyou.

  • thank you for posting these

  • I was taught all these techniques by Master Rick Insley. The 70's were a great time, and for San Soo. Great days to remember- some very good memories. Thanks.

  • i saw a rear naked choke in there.... ive never seen chokes in san soo before...

  • This video clip is from the early 1970's... Not from the post 1993 era powerfully ushered in by Gracie Ju Jitsu .

Chokes predate organized combat styles and systems... the early San Soo folks used this stuff on the battle field. Everything was allowed. If a technique could help you stay alive and helped you dispatch the enemy, it was welcomed.

If a new technique is developed today, that meets the criteria just mentioned, a smart warrior or fighter will welcome that also...

  • i know chokes exist in pretty much every culture around the world...just like chokes and submissions existed here in the US in the form of Catch as Catch Can but i was just saying i never saw them practiced in San Soo...in my personal experience or in any tape ive seen except for this one so i thought it was pretty cool. I'd like to see how they would transition to the back to get the choke or if it was practiced like a walk up rear attack...

  • At 4:30, there is a punch to the opponents left kidney that allows the transition to the choke in this particular case... and you are correct, it could come as a result of a walk up rear attack... and numerous other ways, also.

  • A good example of the principles of technique being applied from the early days of Kung Fu San Soo. Please share more footage...
