*sigh* relics of power...... Really!?, i am sorry but war is not or ever will be DAOC2. Even if they wanted to they simply dont have the funding or staff to make such changes (EA allready fired 80% of there staff and cut there budget to near nothing). Besides the point its mythic we are talking about here. we are talking about a company who has failed at anything remotely resembleing balance in every game they have made all the way back to magestorm.
I think you should look at B.O's for the underdog realms. lets say order lost everything in every zone and dont have the man power to kill people with 30% increase + pots + group buffs + any other buff from capturing the zone. but B.O's are more catchable I think you should consider giving some kind of bonus or flag/buff that users can take with them to havea fighting chance on keep sieges. Your idea is not simple at all its simple when you say it though.
if you look at the video.. a realm most have everything under their control in order to own a zone.. So if the underdog realm takes a BO.. they can counter the zone flip.
one other thing is that you say that if these changes are made then it'll be the great game "we" all want it to be. I think you should restate that or just cut it out all together because although I like the 1st podcast I dislike the 2nd one its not that simple and giving 10% bonus to damage still doesn't sound like a lot of a incentive. it'll actually make the underdog side avoid the dominating side a lot more often causing less skirmishes and more midnight keep jackings.
yeah but you mention that if this idea is taken into play that it will be the great game we want it to be but i think there are some big flaws in your ideas. not that there bad its a good start but needs to be though through more thoroughly unless you already have a post that does explain it.
it would promote more keep defence. Because the realm would actually have something to lose.(the relics).
And if LOTD is tied into this same mechanic.. the realm with the most keeps control in a contested t4 zone will control lotd.. you will notice more defence.
I don't like the idea of giving one faction 10% to everything it's already hard enough to take a keep back. try having to take one back when the people defending it are insanely buffed. Guards are useless unless your talking about lord room guards. So I dunno this idea is very iffy relics doesnt sound like a good idea at all I think you should relook at the idea with out clinging on to DAoC.
the underdog realm will actually be able to take the keeps back easier. as stated in the video.. if a realm controls many keeps (over 4) the keeps are overall weaker. So a keep that would normally need 1 wb of players to bang the doors down to dent it.. you would need half that to dent it.
Also think about the tactical advancement of hitting all 6 keeps at the same time that are all 50% weaker
yeah but i don't think you realize that the keeps aren't what keep players out its the players. if theres buffed players with tons of damage and healing they'll obviouselly be able to hold of the zerg that tries to get in. I've seen half a warband be able to stop 2 full warbands. this will just promote more keep swapping in the long run.
I am curious why the third bonus for owning keeps is just bonus healing? If it were a bonus to magic period, it would be a pretty hotly contested keep. That is all - great suggestions!
These are amazing ideas. I never really thought about how the whole incentive is the player, not the realm. But its totally true, right up to the stupid city siege system (i.e. 'end game') rewarding gear.
Your ideas are amazing, both simple and rewarding to the realm and gameplay period. I played DAOC too, and am disappointed in how badly WAR compares to that game. But Mythic did make the New Frontiers, so there is hope they will wipe the current RvR slate and take your ideas word for word!!!!
Nice idea. I question the lack of a keep bonus that aids tanks, though. I know it's difficult to do with only three pairings. Love the idea of realm-wide incentive to maintaining keep control, though.
Yeah, I gathered as much. Melee DPS isn't what the archetype is about, though, although I can understand why you might be apprehensive about keeps giving a flat health buff to one side.
very interesting, I wouldn't mind seeing this

Would the BOs still have the same Sgt. buffs?

the MELEE DPS buff isn't a buff towards just the MELEE DPS archetype, any melee attack would have increase damage for anyone.
So tanks will get the bonus when they attack, heck, if a caster staffs someone, that damage will get enhanced.
Range DPS will increase the damage of any ranged attack.
