you're right, people shouldn't judge unless they major or in our cases Master in both. problem lies that you call a master a 4th dan and up, we call them a master at 7th dan and up so the range of skill is going to be different across every grade from white belt through to grand masters. there are some extremely talented WTF grand masters and without them the art wouldn't have survived yet some were original ITF members

My personal opinion,and I might be jumping to conclusions again, is that the N.Koreans want complete control of tkd because it's a korean martial art. I think they would love ITF re-unification if everyone else accepted their authority. If the other ITF people could not accept that, I think they would say no to ITF re-unification.

What you call the "real" Tae Kwon Do is but a fraction of the real Tae Kwon Do.
If you learn TKD at a gym somewhere outside of Korea, you don't even know what Tae Kwon Do is at all! By creating the competitions etc, they took away the core and beauty of the art, and that's the Tae Kyon part. The killing/breaking might not look/sound beautiful, but it's the heart of the art, shame they took it away!

It's the fact neither WTF nor ITF are the "real" TKD, you can shout all you want but that's a fact, and you training under Kuen Sabumnim Hwang, with all due respect *bow*, doesn't change a tiny bit about that.

Boxing is a sport and an effective fighting style, Grecco Roman wrestling is a sport and an effective fighting style. ITF tkd is both a sport and a realistic effective fighting style. You can be both.
All ITF competitions include patterns, sparring and breaking, they are comprehensive. If by realistic you mean cage fighting, that would be a recipe for disaster. ITF tkd techniques are so powerful that no holds barred could be fatal.
But if you want to try full power tkd, be my guest
I'v just joined ITF from Rhee TKD and actually Rhee TKD is a more pure form than ITF. I'v also done WTF with my cousin in the Philippines and its way to sports orientated for me. ITF is a better balance but I'll always prefer Rhee at heart but I'll stick with ITF for now.
No denying their skills though. I saw Mark at the IIC and all I have to say is wow.
& to add, the other Members highlighted from Impact are great sparrers & performers of patterns.
there is one clear thing about ITF, we only spar at semi-contact because i believe there would be too many serious injuries and fatal incidents.
if you see some of the techniques thrown in this video, if they hit at full power i'd hate to see the outcome, lucky for the opponents these guys are controlled.
ITF sparring shows the true natural & purpose of the strikes, just watch the last kick!
u know that the only reason its called semi-contact, is because of the foot and hand pads and that ur not ment to knock them out. iv seen some ITF fights that hit alot harder than WTF (which is ment to be full contact) isnt this vid a world championship or something? i agree with u that WTF is ok for a sport but its a bit bring when u get 2 counter fighters. is that the 540 jump turning kick? realy awsome vid tho

whatever you think about wtf, itf for many people is the ugliest combat. u can't punch, u can't kick, wtf specialised in kicks, like box in punching. u wanna be good in everything, so u have to train as twice as we do. 6 hrs of kicks(wtf training) + 6 hrs of punching (box training) everyday, than u gonna die from exaustion or become better than in kicks than wtf and better in punching than a boxer. u have a secret way to train?
