The word Farsi comes of Parsi, which comes of Parti.

Farsi is a relative new language, which some people in Iran (which has a new history, about 150 years )talks, around 25% of the population, and rest use Aranic, Turkish, kurdish, balouch and pashto.

Iran was a part of Ariana (Ariana covered Iran kurdistan, balouchistan afghanistan and tajikistan). but a important part of Ariana calls Khurasan, which is a part of afghanistan now.

this book is hilarious. you don't have to be iranian or american to enjoy it. her second book, "laughing without an accent", is very funny too. i hope she continues to write more about her wonderful family!
