For a dummy...I'm not sure how this works. In this video the cracker finds matches. But are those matches performed for known e-mail addresses the cracker has input; or has the cracker simply searched a hash list looking for any matches it may find, but that can't be used because the corresponding E-mails weren't known; or, is the cracker finding matches that CAN be used, because the correspodning E-mails r attached to the matches?

I don't even have my own computer; that's why I'm a dummy.

iv used password, password1 and pass word as my password for years, never had any trubble.

as far as i can tell, from friends whos been hacked, theyv been to a website that look alike facebook and that kind and written in their password whiout knowing.

i think most hackers crackers or whatever use that method to just fish for password and usernames.

heck soon whit all the cloud virtual machines they could probebly just simulate one and onec they get your username and password they get access.

You are wrong about the 7 million years. I calculated your result. It gave 128 different charters. and l0phtcrack can hack without trying big and small charters. This is the same. So in mine calculation, you need maximal 68 charters. Which brings the time down to 13 000 years. If you have 8 charter password. It will take only one day!

We must help the 15 year olds out there become computer hackers. it is not a bad thing for me as i always loose my keys and forget my password but still, was this really on tv. not saying it isn't interesting just kind of shocked if say a video game can be band and this isn't something is weird going on.

Aren't Active Directory passwords salted? So l0phtcrack will not work instead, you need john the ripper.
