  • Beautiful! Every single video of her performing at the end she is always smiling <3 I hope to follow in her footsteps one day <3

  • paloma herrera is about ten times better.

  • @xoxoceridwini Herrera better than Nina?! Yeah, no way.

  • As danceiz mentioned, her shoulders irked me a little. Her turnouts, I found just fine, though. Overall, however, this woman is flawless. ♥

  • amazing how she suspends in the air in her grande jetes

  • osipova is better

  • Nina's not bad but her glissades are kind of... flailing around everywhere, but then again, I'm not one to judge. I feel like her technique might not have been as good as some others and she's a really good dancer but she might not be suited to this particular piece. I love Paloma Herrera's version, though!

  • I have seen better but it does not mean that she is not good...

Her grand jetes, specially starting with the right leg, she shows the left in the air is

not too stretched out..... But Maya Plisetskaya did not have her technique and she

was a wonderful Kitri as well....

Russians are good at jumping but were never good at turning, or course, with some exceptions.....

    I like her...

  • She is so beautiful!

  • She is a good dancer but she doesnt have that spark to play Kitri.

  • her glisades before the sotashas look so spazy and wild. I have seen much better

  • ニーナのキトリが最高です。 しづか

  • She just flies with her grand jetés xD I loooooooove her!

  • Beautiful! none better! Brava!!

  • PALOMA HERRERA IS SO MUCHHHHHHHH BETTER

  • i could have been more impressed, but she is a very good dancer to be sure.

  • Ella es bastante buena pero le falta un poco de trabajo todavia en la parte de los hombros y brazos y limpiar un poco mas esas glisade y ese jetté pero está muy bien.

  • ♥ u nina!!

  • she's just magnificent (: she really shows that quixote spanish style

  • she's good but her arms are floppy when she does are Jete

  • There's always room for improvement. Yes, I can see that she's a respected professional ballerina. But I also think that her shoulders are a little too far forward, and that her feet aren't as turned out as they could be. Just my opinion.

  • Poooosh, I'm totally nonplussed that amateurs would so cavalierly assess a prima ballerina's technique. Any fool can see that Nina has gorgeous feet and shoulders and arms and hands ... and what a smile, such personality, such a treasure. ♥ Nina.

  • @DrVivianBell amateurs...yes but people know what they like or don't on an instinctive level. I know next to nothing about ballet, I am not ashamed to admit it. That said after watching countless Kitri's this morning on YouTube and I will admit I've been a bit obsessed, I will say that I don't enjoy watching this dancer.

I can't tell you why, I can only say for me she is not fluid. She looks mechanical on some level, like she it dotting i's and crossing t's.

  • @julielvsliason

Hmmmm, you have a point about our gut-level responses to art and artists.

Perhaps you'd be better convinced by a younger Nino dancing Kitri? Search "Nina Anashiavili - Don Quixote Act I Kitri's Entrance (Bolshoi)," uploaded by LuoCatherine. I suspect the video isn't as readily chanced upon because of the misspelling of Nina's surname.

What a smile, such personality, such a treasure. ♥ Nina.

  • @DrVivianBell Yes I do agree that watching a different performance made a difference. Thank you for that advice.

Also I greatly appreciate how respectfully you replied to my post, I appreciate your gracious response very much and I respect that you didn't insult me or put down my intelligence just because I saw this dancer and her abilities differently. My mother would say you have class and I learned something by looking deeper.

    Respectfully.

  • @julielvsliason

My pleasure. Enjoy your exploration: There is a trove of wonderful performance videos on YT.

  • @DrVivianBell Please. Start researching. She is no where a prima ballerina. A prima ballerina must be told so by a ballet master.

  • @2princess4ever Research? Dear, perhaps you have been on a different planet. On second thought, perhaps you ought review the annals of the Bolshoi.

  • @2princess4ever For your information, principal dancers of the Mariinsky and the Bolshoi are all called "Prima Ballerinas", although that title is rarely used in non-Russian companies. The title you are referring to is "Prima Ballerina Assoluta."

  • I don't like so much her saut de chat.

  • her feet aren't that great but she's a very lovely dancer

  • her shoulders are a little too forward for my taste.

  • Perché nella prima parte quando riparte a sinistra fa passo passo Grand-jetè piuttosto che glissade grand-jete????

  • Brava!

  • she is so beautiful!!

  • neither is her expression. Check out Paloma Herrera!

  • Is this variation also called kitris wedding?

  • Thank You Nina for all the years of assoluta dancing. Here you play with tempos, coquette with shoulders and arms (very andalucian, very Kitri) You had lightning and fire.

  • i dont like it how she throws her shoulders back when she jete's its... ugh

  • her turnout and shoulders aren't doing it for me

  • @danceiz4me and you can never be like her! Nina forever

  • @balletboy89 well, you've never seen me dance, but okay thats cool.

i think she has wonderful personality on stage though, but her arms bother mee.

  • @balletboy89 danceiz has a point though. I dont know about her turnouts but i dont like her shoulders either.

  • @balletboy89 You are crazy, she is an amazing dancer, and she is still dancing now. She's my director and she still takes class, and does special performances. A pleasure to work for, and a very caring dancer. Try to dance for more than 30 years, and than I wont have anything to say to you, until than i would advise to not critique principal dancers.

  • @danceiz4me really? maybe that's why you're not in the Bolshoi like she's now.

  • @danceiz4me

really? i rather like her shoulders (broad & robust); she also has a beautiful smile.

  • Вот -это БАЛЕРИНА!!!!!С БОЛЬШОЙ БУКВЫ!!!

  • I love her. Love her love her love her. :) She's my favorite Kitri, EVER.
