  • I saved this one. I would like to know where to get Lucuma.

This looks fantastic. I have to watch my natural sugar intake.

  • Hi Ani~ My neice has a nut allergy. Any suggestions for cashew substitution? Thanks!

  • abyssquick-thanks for the correction

    i must be misinformed!

    will look into this more

    thanks

    ani

  • Ani, I love your videos. I use lucuma myself. In this video you say it is a root plant, which it is not (maybe you thinking about yacon?). Lucuma is a highland sapote species (pouteria obovata), very closely related to mamey and canistel. Lucuma naturally has very dry flesh, and so traditionally it is dried.

sorry for geeking out- pomology (study of fruits) is my profession., I grow all sorts of fruits. I love what you do here, yours are some of the best raw recipes out there!

  • Hi Ani! I can't get lucuma, agave or yacon where I am. Do you have any other recipes for ice cream?

  • Lúcuma isn't from de Andes of Perú? In fact in my country, Peru, Lúcuma Ice cream is very popular, probably the best flavors of all. Thanks for sharing.

  • gwenhwyfar187 - yes, feel free to use agave instead of yacon syrup. same proportions. will keep as long as any other traditional ice cream, say a month or more in freezer.

shockthesky - it helps to first grind your nuts in to a powder, then place in your blender when using less powerful blenders. :)

  • I went and bought lucuma specially when I heard about this! Is it okay to use agave if I can't get hold of yacon? And how long will it last in the freezer?

  • I found you really need a good blender to do this - my blender didn't really work that great.

  • That looks fantastic. I hope I can find the ingredients here.

  • OH MY GOODNESS. I absolutely must try this. I'm so excited :)

  • I bought yacon syrup and it tastes good

  • could you use yacon powder?

  • for some reason, the whole dried and powder don't taste the same as they syrup. the syrup is molasses-like, super good. haven't tried to make with powder, but i'd stick with syrup.

  • Looks yummy!!! Can't wait to get my hands on some Lucuma powder and Yacon syrup to be able to try this recipe for myself.

    Thanks Ani

  • I don't know if this posted already, but it disappeared. What is the website for the syrup and lucuma powder??

  • What was the website for the Yacon syrup and Lucuma powder?

  • I made this tonight. I have to admit...it is NOT delicious. It was quite gross. I had to add a lot of cacao powder, cacao nibs and some agave and it still was gross. I made a banana split out of it and put some pecans on top to mask the flavor. Luckily my kids loved it.

  • we all have our preferences...so glad at least your kids liked it!!

kids tell it like it is, they are soooo awesome

when i tasted this new flavor, i just loved it!

never had it before, and it's so caramel like...yum

    thanks for sharing!!

  • Just let it freeze in the freezer? no ice cream machine needed? unbelievable.

  • yup! i worked many years to get this recipe to work like this!! enjoy it!!!

  • wow amazing! i'm going to look for lucuma powder right away :D thanks for sharing!

  • where can you buy lecuma, yacon syrup - I promise there aren't any grocery stores in central Wisconsin that has anything like this -

  • Mmmm, that looks yummy! I've never heard of lacuma or yacon... must try :) Thanks for inspiring!!

  • Thank God for creating people like Ani Phyo! you are a goddess! you are so adorable!

  • looks good- I don't know how I would use yacuma and yacon in other than with this ice cream, maybe in pies and cakes?? Can they be used in the dehydrater? Any tips?

  • yacon syrup is like agave, won't dry well in dehydrator

    i'd just use blended

    ani

  • yum yum yum

  • Thanks Ani I will have to try this. Do you think tamarind would work well with the flavors to make it more tart?

    -Jared

  • tamarind would be interesting indeed

    that sounds good!

  • This is torture! I doubt I'll be able to find lucuma or yacon in Australia... but I'll try! It sounds so good!

  • Yum, I'm going to try this one. I have yacon syrup but haven't found ways to use it to suit my fancy. You look great in this video dear, healthy and vibrant... love the hair, the kitchen and flowers and of course that ice cream! Long live raw xox

  • i am going to try this for sure!!

  • i am going to try this for sure

  • This looks fantastic. Thanks!

  • delicious!

  • I've tried twice now within the last year to go "raw", and I always fall of the wagon. What am I doing wrong??

  • nothing, remember you are perfect the way you are.

    ani

  • This response was so encouraging to me. I am also trying to change to a raw food lifestyle. I fell off of the wagon today though. Your response made me feel better. Thanks.

  • I actually bought your book at random when I first heard about the raw lifestyle and I am so glad I found your videos. It's nice seeing you make some of the recipes that are in your book.

  • Oh I wish I had a vita mixer :-( lolol.. Looks great!!

  • yummers!!

  • WOW, that looks lovely! Thanks for the recipe :) Cant wait to try that! Is Lucuma sold fresh like say avocados??

  • i haven't seen it fresh just dried

    ani

  • Looks great!! Cant wait to try it!

  • This is definitely on my list to make, looks delicious. I'll have to get some yacon and lucuma, which just happen to be available up the road from where I live! :D.

  • I found the navitas yacon on vitacost, which is where i buy a lot of my raw goodies. they have fair shipping and excellent service, and I always save gobs of money. They don't seem to carry Lucuma however. :(

  • I love it Ani, I will prepare it this weekend, I think it is a fanstastic recipe for my 5 year old boy too!

  • I didn't know that about yucon syrup. I thought agave was awesome. I am looking forward to trying yucon. By the color, I imagine it has a richer flavor. Thank you! I think I will put my ice-cream maker to work on this recipe. :D Do you have a recipe for Taro ice-cream?

  • no taro yet...but that sounds really good!!

    ani

  • thank you for your reply :)

  • thank you for your patience, i've been doing my best to get back to everyone

thanks for enjoying my videos and recipes!

    ani

  • yummy video.

  • yacon is safe for people with candida. it is NOT food for candida like other sweeteners, and it promotes healthy intestinal flora.

this recipe looks great!!! mmmmmm thanks!!

  • This sounds great. If I can find the ingredients through the place I work I wouldn't mind trying this out. Kudos!

  • ferst

  • Great recipe!

  • If one had a nut allergy what would you recommend as a substitute?

  • oh, i'm so sorry, not sure what i'd recommend instead

wish i was of more help

    ani
