Dude, your name is Jagaurclaw. You probably wear shirts with packs of wolves on them with a crescent moon in the background with some lighting bolts along with your sweat pants (you probably have two pair, one casual, one pair for special events) and a fanny pack all while living in your parent's refurbished basement. Are there conspiracies and global companies that fund politics? Sure. But the comment you just made is one of the most asinine comments I have ever read in my life.
Yes, it is. I thought that was just a gimmick of sorts, but it's TRUE. The first five minutes has very important plot points. Brilliant of the director to do that. Have some of the most important things happen BEFORE the main credits.
what do you mean, they used to have a MKUtra program, they still do. ANd Sinatra, a programmer. (God will not be blessing him) It's classic, when they say in the movie that alcohol rehabs are mind control fronts, why do you think the movie starts go into them, and return "fine" in 30 days. Their programming is just reinstalled. Palease, Brittiny spears, a mental case one day, just fine after 30 days. this movie is a classic.
Its a creepy fact that this film came out just a year before JFK was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald...but even creepier is the fact that the two star roles in this film are played by Janet LEIGH and Laurence HARVEY
In real life i was a manchurian candidate in the late 1950's the CIA had a brainwashing program called MKUltra i was in montreal at the time i have just put up the first part of video itis called Ravenscrag
lulvis: The score was done by someone else - at least the score of the movie was. I love Bernard Herrmann though. He scored so many of Hitchcock's movies, and did the original, less well known theme for The Twilight Zone.
oh, yes; sinatra was quite an actor; catch him in "from here to eternity", "the man w/ the golden arm", and of course "the manchurian candidate"; it was only through sinatra's muscle that "the manchurian candidate" was ever made; this was in the old days, before he lost his political marbles and started playing golf w/ nixon and agnew; back then, he was quite the leftie, God bless him, and he was always an advocate of civil rights, even in his republican days.
she just wasn't "box office" in those days, though she's great in the movie; sinatra's first choice for the lansbury part was lucille ball, who would have been absolutely mind-blowing; unfortunately, she turned it down; just think—if she had taken the part, the world might have been spared "here's lucy"--
It wouldn't have been believable; Lucy playing such a witch. Personally, I prefer Here's Lucy or The Lucy Show, OVER I Love Lucy, any day of the week.
I saw this on TCM a couple days ago and Robert Osbourne said that Frank's first choice was Lucille Ball, but after he was shown a video of Lansbury in another role (i forgot which), he insisted that Angela Lansbury play the part of Raymond's mother.

I was surprised that Patty Duke beat out Angela Lansbury for Best Supporting Actress. What were they smoking?

President Kennedy was looking forward to this movie, and he asked Sinatra who would be playing the mother.

Which only shows this was nothing more than an preview, well-coded, for the assassination of JFK, with LEE HARVEY Oswald as the Candidate.

Lansbury wasn't really a big name then...
...and Frank Sinatra ran like a girl.

the frank sinatra Character was from New Hampshire. We still have the kind of culture here that cuts through nonsense.

Why wasn't Lansbury's name in the trailer? That's wrong...

Mybe she was a surprise character. The film already had star power. But what a performance- its got to be one of the best ever.
