Funny. I've lived in the Bay Area for nearly 40 years(my entire life) and I've never been t the top of Telegraph Hill. Of course I've never been to Alcatraz either. It's probably because I never drive into the city, I take BART. Then the last thing I wanna do is walk all over the place. Tourists.
