hey mate it must of been a hell of a bitch to get that round tube into the shape of the ramp, i just finished my ramp and all i did was get right angle made then tacked a strip of 3mm x 50mm sheet as the curve and it did all the work for me haha sure you had fun bending that tube
Just building the ramp is a great accomplishment (congratulations),. Everyone is going to have their preferences and opinions on angle and transition... so here's mine. That's pretty steep for standard FMX (39 deg), but an ideal angle for kind of a hybrid "do it all" step up comp/backflip (some as steep as 60 deg - or more) and fmx.
Really though, The commitment you have to building a ramp and not just talking about it .. (applause) good job.
@BBQchips112 how did you do your side rail bends? I've seen it done where you cut into the tubing every few inches halfway bend them closed and re-weld them. It kinda looks like you did that but not very many cuts?
cool dude! Last year i built a ramp in shop... made the supports out of 3" drill stem... didn't hold together too well. cheap ass MIG that our school has..
lol well thank you... and i have some things for you to do... 1st - consider the title of the video and why i have posted it.....2ed - learn out to type and spell your words right....3ed - go fuck yourself.....4th - it would be hard to be "doing sum jumps" considering it is not finished yet.... and 5th - Dont ever fucking tell me what to do bitch.
my angle is at a good 37 degree angle and i think when i build a metal one i'm going to go like 33-35 just so I don't have to get so much dirt for a landing lol and make it like 6 ft wide
o and the size of the jump is very important coorilation with the jump.... If you have a small jump with a very steep angle... DONT HIT IT GOING VERY FAST!!... It will throw your back end up and your going to eat it.... With the steeper angle... The jump needs to be bigger if your planning on hitting it with some speed... So if you want a steep angle on your tabletop to pop you up... the jump is going to need to be farly big so you dont end up going over the handlebars
thanks man that def helped, im gonna rent a bob cat some time soon and get to work on a few, im thinkin of buildin a fmx ramp with a dirt landing jum 2, just for fun. Have you hit this jump yet? Do you think it makes a difference if you build a wood or metal ramp?
naw not yet... its still being built... Cant wait until its done though...Metal lasts longer and is much safer... but a wood ramp is easier and cheaper to build. For the jumping exp. They are both the same.
I would just work with the dirt and play with the face of the jump to get it where you want it.... But be carefull. Go slow at first.... But i wouldnt go with an angle that is steeper than 40 degrees... Because if you do it will be alot more dangerous... Just fo the fact that its going to take alot to get the bike right when you land.
I would go with less of and angle for the distance.... The steeper angle you have to more its going to throw you up in the air.. the less of the angle you have the more distance its going to give you.... So on your table top if its going to be farly short... go with a little bit more of a steeper angle but if its going to be longer go with the lesser angle.... This goes for all of your jumps
How much air can you expect to get from a ramp this size? im wanting to add bigger table top jumps and doubles to my track but i dont know how to make the faces so that i wont kill myself by either over shooting it or coming up short lol
